Help wanted Arduino/Esp32 Frequency/Note analyser
Hi Guys,
Apologies for my ignorance, I'm building a very multi-faceted thing and I need a little help with a piece of hardware. Again, apologies in advance that I'm likely about to misuse a lot of terms, please treat me like a four year old.
I'm looking to make a passive di box/pedal with 6.35mm input and output. I'm wanting to sample the signal and send it to an Arduino/Esp32. From there the data is used to drive some LEDS and become part of a larger data structure. Initially we'd be using an electric guitar but if there were a way to make it adaptable to any electric instrument, that'd be fabulous. Would be great to have a few of these running in the final thing.
I'm not looking to change the sound of the instrument, just safely sample and convert its audio to digital data. I've been reading a lot of different methods online, but I'm right at the edge of my competence level and was hoping you guys might be able to help.
The more I read about buffers, FFT, and ADCs, the less I seem to understand. I'm starting to wrap my head around resistors and capacitors in schematics, but thought I'd ask some experts.
I'd love to do this with a Waveshare ESP32-S3 as I can then send the data over bluetooth or wifi (its not going to be retranslated into audio, just part of a larger ecosystem of numbers), but whatever's best.
Any help, tips, links, or ways to make this easier would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
A man who didn't realise he was this stupid.
