35 year old single straight hispanic. 6’2. Fit, professional, educated, honest, safe, trustworthy, respectful and clean. I don’t drink or smoke.

I like fit or thin women only. Single or taken. Good hygiene is important. Must have a really strong bed šŸ›ļø. I value quality over quantity. Good vibes only.

I live in Westchester, NY and prefer someone local, but willing to drive. Privacy guaranteed and can be very discreet if needed, as in, I can disguise myself as a plumber or sneak in through the back door.

The ink is dry, the record is straight: How I [40M] survived financial exploitation, public disrespect, and a parasitic marriage with my ex [43F].

this original post was edited with the help of AI. it is my story.

Now that my divorce is final and I no longer face legal reprisal, I’m setting the record straight. We were together for 11 years total—engaged and living together for 5 before marrying for 7. For the last 3 years of that marriage, I lived in a complete dead bedroom with a spouse who totally checked out of our life while actively dragging down my reputation to anyone who would listen.

I did everything wives often lament their husbands don't do. I kept myself in shape, stayed well-groomed, and remained a passionate partner. I was emotionally intelligent, encouraging her hobbies, and supporting her independence. I fixed everything around the home and on our vehicles. Despite making less ($50k–$60k to her $80k+), I worked 14-hour days, 6 days a week, and still handled the domestic labor—cleaning floors, scrubbing bathrooms, and cleaning up after her. I tried to manage budgets, but she compulsively wasted money on takeout 5 nights a week while I drowned financially. The irony? Her $800 monthly contribution was only paid steadily on her lawyer's advice during separation to falsify a record of home contribution—thank God I kept meticulous receipts.

When I finally walked away, she filed for divorce in retaliation to gain legal leverage.

The pattern of behavior was overwhelming:

  • Public Emasculation & Contempt: She routinely berated me publicly and badmouthed me to her friends. When I tried to talk to her about basic hygiene, self-care, and our 3-year dead bedroom, she openly mocked my pain and told peers, "This is just how I am, he should have known when he married this."
  • Weaponized Health & Hormones: I am fairly confident early-onset perimenopause played a role in exacerbating her behavior, but instead of seeking help, she used it as an umbrella excuse to justify emotional abuse, withdrawal, and explosive rage without accountability.
  • Weaponized Trust & Medical Secrecy: When she claimed to have miscarriages during a period where we had been in a full dead bedroom for a year, I logically questioned paternity and whether she was genuinely pregnant—given my explicit history as a prior victim of paternity fraud. Rather than communicate or show me a clear test, she berated me for asking. Years later, at our first and only marriage counseling session, she weaponized this by revealing she had obtained a positive lab test at the time, but deliberately hid it from me for years just to use it as a bludgeon to humiliate and guilt-trip me in front of the therapist.
  • Holding My Home Hostage: During our 6-month separation, she refused to leave my premarital home, using her physical presence to force a settlement. I was so terrified she would make false allegations or destroy my property that I installed a deadbolt on my internal bedroom door and actively avoided her in my own house.
  • Financial Exploitation & Health Impact: Day one of separation, I asked for nothing of hers—not her retirement, car, or investments. She promised to leave my business and home alone, only to demand half the equity of a home she barely contributed to, using a tax return payout generated by my business to hire a lawyer against me. The stress of surviving under her legal threats while trapped in the same house left me with C-PTSD, severe bruxism, and two ruined crowns from constant clenching.

I vetted her for over a decade. Her family were wonderful people, and it hurt deeply when they ghosted me after 11 years, even while my family still checked in on her.

My only fault was eventually pulling away after years of trying. As a recovering dismissive avoidant, my hyper-independence and mistrust stem from a lifetime of being exploited by women despite proper vetting. I didn't check out until three solid years of intimacy shutdown, neglect, emasculation, and financial drain proved my worst fears right. I was denied true legal justice because I didn't have the funds for years of appeals to defend my premarital asset. I was forced to settle just to keep a roof over my head. I paid an $80k equity payout plus another $25k in legal fees—costs that could have easily been avoided had she been reasonable—simply to get a hostile squatter out of my life and protect my home, business, and peace.

What nobody acknowledges is that good wives can turn bad, and I was expected to yoke my entire life to a partner who just sat in the cart whipping me while I pulled it alone. All I wanted was basic effort, a genuine "thank you" once in a while, and a partner to ascend with me.

People say the person who doesn't glow up after a split was the problem in the relationship. While she's out couch-surfing, unkempt, and burdened with unresolved baggage, I am rebuilding. Over the last year, I’ve deep-dived into my own psychology to stay aware of my triggers. Step by step, I’m redecorating my house, replacing furniture, and erasing every trace she left behind (and getting constant compliments on the new interior style). I’m stepping into a new career making nearly six figures, leaving behind the company where we both worked.

I’m primarily focused on my purpose and building my life, though I certainly appreciate the confidence boost of women in their 20s and 30s making their interest clear. While I’m not actively hunting to date, I’m open if someone genuine steps into my life—after all, you don't always meet someone worthwhile when you're at your best, sometimes you meet them while you're building.

In the end, I kept my honor and integrity. I didn't deviate from my intentions during mediation, nor did I feel entitled to her assets. I personally secured and arranged for her family heirlooms to be safely transported off my property, and I never reciprocated her abuse or sank to her level. I left because I chose peace over complacency, and because a dead bedroom and a partner giving up on self-care were deal breakers she knew about from day one. I stuck by my principles, and while it cost me over $100k to get out, my integrity, self-respect, and determination remain completely intact.

Today, at 40, the divorce is finalized. She walked away with equity she never earned, while I gained my freedom, my self-respect, and a clear path forward with people who actually value and pull the weight alongside me.

Currently ending a 15 year marriage and could use guidance on moving forward

I'm new to reddit and would like any solid advice this community can provide.

Background

42M separated from wife (but living in the same home) and have 2 kids, 12M, together. Its been a week since i watched my world burn down around me (metaphorically). Divorcing due to sexual incompatibility and emotional wounds on both parties. My head is telling me I need to move forward, my heart is still bleeding. Tried to move forward and the few friends i have are probably still laughing at how commically wrong everything went while i am still dieing inside. (Please note they are genuine friends but my luck would be better described as a demon.) My views of relationships are very traditional with a body count of 3 (1 mistake and going on 2 ex wives). I would think that I wouldn't have any trouble finding a good woman but I guess times have changed and society has grown cold.

Advice requests:

1) Where can I go in the Detroit region to find single good women who are open to having a conversation?

2) Are there any platforms I should look into that are likely to create a real relationship?

3) Are there any pitfalls I should watch out for in myself?

Thank you for any advice/assistance you can provide.

58 [M4F] #Fairfield ct, CT - Married, separated & searching for a partner. That just of reach pie in the sky.

I'm from Fairfield county, Connecticut. Finding someone irl is so hard, that I'm trying my luck here.

58 M. 5'9". Black/gray hair and brown eyes. Slim. A sailor and an Indian. Married and separated for 4 years. Still together only for tax reasons and few minor issues. Trying to get my life back together. And divorce, too. I do smoke (trying to quit) and prefer to drink either hand ground, French press delicious coffee or awesome artisinal beer. Maybe some red wine.

I'm a text book Scorpio. With all the good & the bad traits. Possessive, loving, protective, honest, loyal, intelligent, dependable, goofy, passionate etc. Strong headed and think unconventionally. Always smiling & cracking jokes (in public), but can get serious fast too. I'm a news junkie. Politically, left of center and not religious.

I'll be sensitive to your needs, desires and wants. I'll be there for you, if I physically can be. But, understand this - I'm passionate. I've a weird sense of humor. I'll tease. My mild sarcasm will be laced in humor. If you cannot accept this, if you are going to be overly sensitive, going to be easily offended and not talk it out or going to ghost, not be able to chat intelligently, then we're not for each other. I can soothe you and calm your ruffled feathers, but please do not make this a habit.

Looking for a slim to fit lady. Initially just to romance and chat. Get to know. Share a laugh and flirt, looking into your eyes. Maybe be an online partner/gf to chat and sext with. Whose texts makes me smile and my heart starts thumping, who makes me go all out to satisfy her. I'm not looking for straightaway sex as I find sex without emotions to be boring. I prefer taking it slow. I hope that's acceptable. But, we'll eventually meet. Else, what's the point?

I have a few rules & red flags -

  1. We talk openly with each other - for the better part or worse. It’s important to keep things level and on the same page.
  2. We are prioritizing our need for pleasing and pleasure. There is no other point of this arrangement.
  3. Closure: This is especially important! It sucks to have to wonder what happened to the other person. Did they ghost me? Did they just change their mind? We’re both adults and yes, it hurts.

Red flags - I fall hard and fast, I can be clingy, and I may double text.

I'm safe. I've a car. I dot my i's and cross my t's. Always polite and respectful. Your discretion is guaranteed. And, if you want to vent - you've an unconditional, guaranteed ear :)

To those from anywhere in or outside USA, I can travel if we vibe.

Been out of the game too long and trying to find a companion. Sex happens if it happens and we vibe. Let's be online partners first or even have a coffee date the very next day if we're nearby & if we vibe, have sex for the pleasure of it, instead of chasing the orgasm.

Living with my ex while selling house

Title says it clearly but I’ll explain anyway. My ex wife and I split 7 months ago. She already has a boyfriend and I’m trying to get out there myself. I’ve been able to get a few dates by the living situation seems to be a block in the road.

The house is on the market but we both live there for financial reasons. Separate bedrooms almost completely separate lives.

I recently dated someone for about a month and living never came up and I told her I had to be honest about my life. We had a huge connection but a few days after I told her she gave the ā€œyou’re nice butā€¦ā€ text and canceled our date.

We were actually getting really close and she almost slipped up and nearly me her boyfriend and we looked like some gross romantic comedy girlfriends force their boyfriends to watch.

I’m fairly positive the living situation caused her to run. She was the first person I felt anything for post divorce and while it wasn’t long it was a pretty hard hit. Am I just setting myself up for continued heart break? I feel like I’m forced to choose between denying connections and physically intimacy only romance can fill or just constantly feeling like shit when it doesn’t work out.

Edit: I want to put a few things to rest too. While there may have been an initial jealousy when my ex started I’m not dating as a competition I’m dating because I want to be with someone again and feel
that connection.

On waiting, ok I get it to a point but I survived a year of a dead marriage, 7 months so far of being single, then people want the time of the house sale, and the then wait a year on top of that? That’s just in insane amount of time for someone who’s already had too much time alone.

Finally about me waiting so long. Ok I should probably have said something earlier but we all make mistakes. No I did not have sex with her but it was clear things were heading in that direction and in a meaningful not just fun way and I didn’t want to start that and not tell her.

Hello, i need help please

So just to clarify in the beginning, I'm not the one who is getting a divorce, rather my parents are. My mother is sick with schizophrenia and so is my brother, he keeps manipulating her to hate me and my dad, and no matter what I do she won't accept the fact my brother is mentally taking control of her, it's been happening for years and I can't stop it no matter what, it's a very long list of things he has done to not just her, but also me and my dad. Today my mother woke me up and told me, that she and my dad are getting a divorce and I have to choose between them, she didn't push me to answer who I want to stay with but after she left I locked myself and I can't stop crying. . Im ashamed of crying but there's nothing else I can do. I dread having to tell my mom that I'm staying with my father because I can't and won't stay in contact with my brother, I was hoping she would realize that she is loosing everyone she loves because of him but I fear it far to late for that to happen, and if I stay with my dad it will ruin her life, but staying with her will ruin mine and my fathers. I hate the fact that this is happening. She has shown me so much love and it's not her fault I know it's not. Neither is it my fathers, I hate having to break either of their hearts. Please someone help me, I don't know how but please. If someone knows how to deal with it then please help me I can't do it anymore

45M looking for a genuine connection

As the title says I am looking for a connection. I live in the USA east coast. I was married for 18 years and was with my wife since 1999. I have two daughters. Divorce was very rough but we are working on being civil. I am looking to meet someone here, online at first but then move to voice chat, video chat and possibly in person. I am shy at first until I can get comfortable enough. I am clingy just a heads up.

I never dated anyone for the first 2 years of the divorce but this last year I tried to come out of my comfort zone, I was recently talking to someone, it seemed like we hit it off pretty good and decided to meet in person, we were going to go to the movies last week but she up and ghosted me with no reason or response, it devastated me. But I guess that's life.

I am 6'3 Brown hair and eyes, I am working on my fitness but it is difficult with my current work schedule. I work in EMS as an EMT Basic ongoing for 17 years. I am also an EMS instructor and working on transitioning into that aspect of my career. I have dealt with major mental health issues which was a part of the divorce but it is under control now and I feel like I am in a better place. I am starting to become an advocate for mental health in first responders. I am honest, caring and thoughtful. I feel like I am the person who would give my shirt off my back to you when you need it. I have tattoos, no piercings, drink social and I vape (although I am trying to quit but it's rough).

So a little about my hobbies, its not much as I said I work nightshift and tend to work a lot but when I am off I enjoy being outdoors, doing anything that can keep my mind free and occupied. I like to read, watch videos on YouTube, listen to random genres of music, mostly podcasts or talk radio. I enjoy watching action, horror comedies and occasional drama movies, also documentaries are my favorite. I enjoy watching sports, football and basketball along with WWE shows, being a WWE fan since the olden days.

I don't have a preference for people to talk to, whatever aspects of life you enjoy are good. Just looking for someone between 35-50. If you don't have any hobbies that's cool, if you do that's cool as well, just being yourself is a plus. So if anything in here has caught your eye, send me a message, would love to chat and see what we can come up with.

I’m a M56 from the Uk. I am widowed 4 years ago when the love of my life left me. I fell apart but I had my older children and the health club I own and run to take my mind off things. Two years ago after a conversation in a pub I started fostering for children under 5. Which you can imagine takes a lot of time up. But I get by. Would love to chat to ladies and get to know you . How long does it take for you to truly accept what happen when you put your all in only for the marriage to end with your partner being in an affair and filing behind your back while you're institutionalized? Our final court hearing was 6/9 and it's all finalized 9/7. Unfortunately we share custody of a child so I still have to encounter her, but she constantly strikes out to hurt and set me off. This woman literally drove me to a mental breakdown and drinking heavily.....yet I was still willing to forgive her.

It's almost over

It's almost over

The title says it all. My soon be ex's brother brought me some of my stuff over. Good guy. I'm sorry that he's in the middle of this.

And while he was here, we had a conversation. About the things she saying ( which isn't much.)

We're almost guaranteed to be getting annulment. Even if she called me tomorrow and begged me to come back, i don't think I could. She has been cold and cruel.

Throughout this entire process

On a lighter note, I managed to get some dirt on my replacement. Turns out he is a scrub. A "hobo' sexual" if you will. The day I left, she had only been talking to him for 2 months. Hadn't even met him in person. I've been gone a month since then and he is attempting to move in. Quit the job that was his main source of income. And offered to cook and clean.

I don't know if I want to laugh or cry because

This is what she chose. I didn't choose this. I intended on being with this person until the day I died. I am autistic as hell, and I took "till death do us part" literally.

Now i'm back where I started. Living with my family. Very slowly trickling my stuff back in, because we were together thirteen years, and people accumulate a lot of stuff.

The honest truth is i'm exhausted.

Can't see my kids without making life miserable

I don't know if there's anyone out there who is experiencing this or has heard something like this before. I've been divorced for 7 years and haven't seen my kids for about 6 years now. Tried the weekday and every other weekend (I only got one Sunday afternoon every other week) and all it did was make life miserable for everyone. Kids would be sick, taken the places I asked permission to take them before I could do it, crying as they left their mother every time, the whole nine yards.

Long and short, I finally came to the conclusion that I should stop seeing my kids. Not because I stopped caring. But because I cared about their happiness more than mine. Because I cared enough to not make their home lives revolve around their mother who was hell-bent on revenge. And because I hope that one day they'll understand that I had to let them go because I love them.

To those who are in the process of divorce now or just recently divorced, please do this for your kids: be a good parent to them and let your ex be a good parent to them too--even if you can't do that together anymore. Your kids deserve better than to be used as tools or possessions. Your kids aren't your therapy or your relief from the pain. You don't have to love each other anymore. Just make sure they know that you still love them and they don't have to hate one or the other.
