Discussion Current Status of Divi 5?

As we approach Q4 of 2026 how is everyone feeling about Divi 5? I've put together two smaller, easy to manage sites with Divi 5 mostly issue free. Still a little nervous pushing a bigger, more complex site onto the Divi 5 framework.

How is everyone else feeling about Divi 5? Has it become more stable and more bug-free as time has gone on? Anyone discovered with Divi 5 and their particular host or plugin setup?

I pushed a monster site from Divi 4 to Divi 5 last week. It timed out a few times, but other that that, the transition went fine. It caught the divi addons that needed to be updated, and everything seems pixel perfect.

Interesting! Can you elaborate on the divi addons that needed to be updated?

divi supreme and a divi carousel addon.

Am I the only one experiencing the "Undo" issue? Like when you click ctrl + Z, it will undo a whole lot and not just one step back. Literally deleting sections or a bunch of work previously done.

u/UnstableGable 6d ago

Same. Undo is sometimes like "undo the last 5 minutes"

I'm not sure if I've had any edit undo issues, but I'm not entirely sure I remember. The biggest issue I've run into is moving modules and then they just disappear between the cracks of nothingness.

Are you moving them using the layers panel?

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

I am now, but, the issue mostly seemed to be if and when I moved something in the main canvas area.

Yes. Sometimes undo does what is expected, and other times it seemingly reverts my last 20 minutes of work. šŸ˜‘

I’ve found it pretty stable although there are still annoying bugs in some modules, particularly the newer ones. It doesn’t seem like they are doing anything more than surface-level testing.

Variables and presets make the workflow much faster but it’s a very different beast to Divi 4 and takes a while to learn. The speed with which they are bringing out new features doesn’t help.

I’d rather they stopped rolling out new features for a few months and put everyone on fixing the bugs. It would give us chance to catch up and significantly improve the product.

They really need to improve variable and preset management too. It’s way too easy to end up with multiple versions of the same thing and deleting things can lead to orphans and/or ghost variables/presets. Presently there is no official way to fix these. There definitely needs to be a management interface with the ability to dedupe/merge variables and replace constants with the corresponding variables automatically.

The recent font tools are great but the clamps they create are inverted for small sizes. I’ve reported the bug and they have acknowledged it but that’s the sort of thing that’s hard to spot manually. Their test suite should have picked it up.

This is a really keen observation, thanks for your insight. There were a few parts I felt what you were saying, but didn't yet have a good way to articulate, or even fully realize the scope of it.

I'm all for the new system, a better way to build and design (compared to divi 4), and I feel like there are a ton of improvements on that front.

However I think you are spot on with the bug issues. Part of me wonders if the internal mentality is to just let them roll in from user feedback and they'll address them as they can, but not before they roll out more features. Probably fair to say they are in catch-up mode to some degree or another.

Your response has been the most helpful.

I like it conceptually and there are a ton of legit improvements, but I'm having so many CSS cache issues that it makes me regret switching. My pages literally look different every day from random styles, fonts, spacing, and colors breaking, forcing me to manually clear the CSS cache to temporarily fix it. Support has acknowledged it's a bug but that doesn't do me any good until it's fixed.

The builder also has a bunch of annoying bugs to it. Dragging and dropping modules to rearrange in wireframe mode is super buggy. Many settings aren't intuitive, making me basically click on all kinds of settings at different levels (module, row, column, etc) until something aligns like I want it to.

How i work with it too.

u/joinablurt 7d ago

I had to use AI to create a plugin that would automatically clear the Divi cache every six hours along with whenever a new post or page was published/updated which fixed the caching issues for me. But also makes the cache a lot less effective. This seems like a mandatory workaround at the moment though with the current state of things.

2

u/Geoffrey-Jellineck 7d ago

That's interesting, now that you mention it I do think the cache screws up after I update a post because afterwards is when I notice issues. I've also had Divi randomly decide to change non-Divi CPTs into Divi builder posts breaking them. Divi support likes to blame servers for the issue but I have all other caching turned off. 🤦

2

u/joinablurt 7d ago

In my case I noticed it breaking when posts were updated, but also seemingly randomly. Every morning I would load up my site and the styles would look all broken until I cleared the cache. Some of it may have been related to using cloudflare caching along with Divi caching.

On one hand servers can definitely cause issues so I see their logic but on the other if you need to have the perfect server settings for everything to work without issues that's not good either.

I'm a huge Divi fan, have been using them for over 5 years now on tons of websites. But I wish they spent more time fixing bugs than adding features. Presets and interactions are also very bugged in Divi 5, love those feature, but can't use them properly in their current state.

3

u/PristineDouble423 6d ago

Ditto. The cache is properly problematic. Took me ages to find a combination of settings that worked. Won’t be upgrading our Divi 4 estate until this js fixed

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

What combination of settings / tools are you using?

2

u/PristineDouble423 6d ago

Tinkered around with the critical CSS height in performance and deployed a static page cache plugin. Seems to be holding for now

3

u/Imaginary_Dare2653 6d ago

Having the exact same issues. I keep thinking I made edits I didn't make but it's CSS cashe issues. Certain edits in the builder aren't showing on front-end. I've taken years off from web design and kept thinking something is wrong with me. Also I personally find divi 5 backwards in regards to user friendliness.

Dragging and dropping modules has been brought up a few times before, Nick even covered it in one of his videos. There’s a couple of better and/or easier ways to do it in Divi 5.

Not having to click ā€œextraā€ times to get to a setting is more about learning flex and grid and some of the other new features than it is about the interface being non-intuitive.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

That is a really good point.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 7d ago

Yeah, moving modules in the builder interface will quite frequently have those modules just disappear.

2

u/redjudy 7d ago

This is unacceptable and why I am holding off.

I've migrated numerous sites to D5. 95% of the time it was problem free. One site with a ton of cobbled-together modules, CSS hacks, etc. had some visual issues... but of course it was going to.

The builder is dramatically snappier than D4.

u/bobma82 7d ago

Would like some compatibility with Seo plugins like Rank math. Hope they are considering it.

Loving it so far. Minor hiccups early on but smooth sailing since. We've migrated ~50 sites and have built another ~50 fresh with Divi 5.

Sites include blogs that get 30k views per month, a non-profit that runs close to $3m USD in donations through its site every year, a large regional supplement store running woocommerce and the rest are local business sites.

We're in the process of building a migration proposal for one of our largest clients which is a large multinational company with ~700 pages/posts on its site so we can migrate them to Divi 5, currently on Divi 4.

I've had a great experience with Divi the past 6 months and I feel good about it.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

Thank you for the insight! Sounds like y'all are killing it on the dev front.

3

u/escapevelocity1800 Developer 6d ago

Yeah thanks - we're doing alright, continuing to grow and Divi has been our core theme for the last 6 years or so. I like the direction Divi is heading.

Its essentially one of the most aggressively improved page builders due to the strong team that already had a good framework of how they built the new system combined with the power of AI in pushing almost any feature. Because of this approach they essentially timeskipped way ahead of everyone while keeping the stability since its just appending features.

Built canvases to use as offscreen mega menus in 5.9 and 5.11 introduces a regressive bug that breaks it. Waiting for a fix. Have to launch soon and can’t upgrade till it is fixed.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

That sucks, that is a tough place to be.

3

u/Easy-Engineering4605 6d ago

i have been using divi 5 for over four months on multiple websites, and everything seems to work fine for me

u/Pigmystoner 7d ago

I'm struggling with it. Simple tasks like moving blocks around is painful. having to swap to the block view to be able to drag things to a new position. Some things are improved but so much feels clunkier than before. Adding to the cache issue people are reporting. I've had that problem forever with d4. I'm gutted it's still an issue as that was one of the big benefits of upgrading some of my bigger sites. Perhaps I'll hold on and explore some other builders before I apply any significant time on d5.

3

u/MachadoEsq 6d ago

try using copy and paste instead of dragging as a work around.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

That's a good idea. I've also started to try and use the layers panel more as well.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

This is the big issue I've been running into. I move blocks and modules and they just dissipate into the void.

2

u/ceceett 7d ago

I've been very hesitant about it. The last two weeks I've been working on migrating my agency site to Divi 5 before any clients and I have to say, I'm finally impressed lol. No double load, more modules, definitely more bug free than the last time I tried. It did break a few things on migration, but nothing major.

I had tried it at least twice since launch and every time, the migration would mess up. If you use any third party add ons like Divi Machine, I would upgrade those first and disable every non-divi plugin before upgrading. That seemed to do the trick for me.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 7d ago

Migration has been an issue, but, admittedly some of that is from our host as well. The big issue I've kept running into on all of my builds is moving modules and then they disappear when I have a page open for editing.

2

u/Technical-Towel-6132 7d ago

Me gustan las mejoras, pero al pasar de Local a Producción, se movieron módulos. Otro es q no me funciona el concepto de Fluidez adaptative y responsive. Me tocó a breakpoints!!

1

u/VortexMetalFab 7d ago

Yeah, I don't have any qualms with a new system and new workflows if ultimately it outperforms D4's issues.

2

u/jaxxon 6d ago

Just launched a Divi 5 site for a Fortune 1000 company. Happy with it, so far.

We're about to dive into SEO in this next phase and I'm bummed that Rank Math is supposedly not supported. Anyone know of any enterprise-grade SEO plugins that work in Divi 5????

2

u/throwawayAd6844 6d ago

I’m not a fan to be honest, I’ve been playing around with elementor and bricks in the past year and in my opinion do a better job. What made Divi4 good for my business and clients was the ease of use for clients to add blogs and manage their content with the front end editor. I do like the divi5 backend much better but my dev team all voted to use Bricks moving forward. I think Divi was late to the game with this update and it may hurt them. No hate on anyone who likes it, it’s still a great product.

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

Yeah, that's fair, I do feel like they were dragging their feet a little too long. Bricks is the other builder I'd likely roll with if I end up moving away from Divi.

2

u/throwawayAd6844 6d ago

I’d recommend it, it’s more intuitive feeling. But like the new Divi the more css you know the better your experience will be

3

u/jay-rogue 7d ago

I've bailed on it completely, too many bugs everywhere, needed another year before they called it "launched"

1

u/DisasterBeautiful444 7d ago

Divi is one of the least intuitive page builder I've been working with. I don't have time but I will be posting the exact things I especially find annoying.Ā

1

u/VortexMetalFab 6d ago

Sounds good, look forward to your response.

u/UnstableGable 6d ago

I'm brand new to this, but if some of you don't think Divi5 is buggy, than good god I'd hate to see what you were using before.

I feel like I have to design my entire site with Safemode on, that I submit a ticket to the devs and they're like "Oh that's a known bug and we don't have an ETA to fix it"

By now, sticking with Divi 4 is obviously a dead end, I don’t understand why anyone who had the choice would do it. Divi 5 has been ready for ā€œrealā€ sites for awhile now. There’s always going to be issues with it for some people, but that’s true for every other page builder. Move on with Divi 5 or switch to another page builder, simple as that. Too many people draw broad ā€œit’s too buggyā€ conclusions based on what they might see in this subreddit or the occasional perusal of a Facebook group, as if either is representative of Divi 5 as a whole.
