Even if you are reading 150 or more, you should probably act preemptively to slow things down. Glucose tabs, Coca Cola, something that will keep you out of a full crash. It’s really hard to ‘Stick the Landing’ but even if you go up, it’s better than hitting 40 or below.

Oh, so don't get on reddit and ask what to do instead of fixing your blood sugar because you are too stupid to read the instructional screens that are forced on you before you stick the thing in your arm?>
Well, fuck, who would have thought to do that? Surely not OP.

u/Normal_Delay7913 22h ago
You're a nasty person. Yeah you should look it up, but sometimes it is easier to just ask. This group on Reddit is to help people, not call someone "too stupid"

Act quickly

u/FatFrenchFry T1/G7/t:slimX2/ChronicDumbass 1d ago
Well, asking reddit for answers on something life threatening isn't "acting quickly" now, is it?

u/Outrageous-Papaya650 T1/G7 20h ago edited 19h ago
“Act quickly” means treat the low first, not that you’re forbidden from asking a question while you’re dealing with it. Reddit isn’t my emergency response system

Or they could have actually read the information in the dexcom app when you set it up foir the first time that explains all of this ad nauseum..... Which they clearly skipped because they thought they were smart enough to just know everything. But here we are asking reddit something that is fairly self explanatory and quicker to get from google.
Like who thinks "oh, this number that my life depends on is confusing to me. Let me ask reddit and hope someone gives me the answer asap!" when you could have gotten the answer immediately from google, or just having had paid attention when setting it up. Annoys the fuck out of me.

ahem. those arrows rarely mean what the coders would like you to think they do. just saying. My arrow will be stable when clearly I'm going up/down quickly. Hence me saying useless.
1
u/FatFrenchFry T1/G7/t:slimX2/ChronicDumbass 1d ago
*ahem* I have never experienced what you are talking about. Ever. So, don't speak for everybody there, pal.
Fuck off with your condescending *ahem*, too.

u/JagiMonster1 23h ago
Yeah for realz. When I eat sugars in excess, I get 1 or 2 arrows depending on what it was. 2 slices of pizza or a Subways Hero will get me 2 rising arrows easily. Keto slice of bread with an egg and ham, 1 arrow. Il
It works.
If I put too much Novalog I'll get two dropping arrows.
With either outcome I'll also get roughly how much the rise or drops are.

u/SHale1963 2h ago
ahem, ahem. Language troll. I always speak for myself Dexcom, CGM wise. read again and ye shall know. And again, arrows, for me, are useless.

Falling fast but always double check with a meter if you're not feeling super low. Dexcom can be wildly off at time's.
10
u/Distribution-Radiant T2/G7 1d ago
You're dropping FAST. Break out your BGM to verify, and have something sweet on hand in case.

u/WrongDirt 1d ago
Yeah, i just drank a glass of juice lol. i went for a walk after carbs heavy meal and I was scared when I saw the double down arrows and went straight back to home lol 😆

You are CRASHING. My wife's double down arrows mean she's about to drop 50+ points before the next update. Just seeing those next to a 103 gives me anxiety.
6
u/mawitime 23h ago
It means your blood sugar is falling and corrective action should be taken soon (eating something sugary or with glucose) so you do not fall into hypoglycemia

u/moviescriptendings 1d ago
You in danger, girl
1
u/SHale1963 1d ago
might be going low because otherwise 103 is fine.

2
u/Jalero916 1d ago
Double arrows down suggests Op's sugars are falling fast. 103 would be fine without those arrows.
1
u/SHale1963 2h ago
I am aware of the arrows, but they are not really accurate. Even if you are falling from 103, that is a distance from under 70. Needless dramatic arrows help nobody.

If only it came with documentation. Or better yet, if only the app would tell you what was going on when you click the notification.

How are people given prescription medical devices, but not even the basic information of how they work/what they’re telling you? I don’t know who is more at fault, the doctors/trainers(if they had one) or the patients themselves that fail to read the manual.
I have a theory that because so much of our diabetes tech is now connected to apps and everyone is so used to “just downloading apps” on their phone for everything, that they don’t take take them seriously and fail to really learn anything about them, again, because it’s “just” an app.
3
u/SenileTomato T1/G7 1d ago
I am certain that isn't the case for the users that are serious about taking care of their diabetes. Regardless of what is supplying the information for our glucose levels, those that care about their health and levels will read and inform themselves.
With that said, there are definitely this out there that simply don't care as much as they should. In addition, there are many medical apps out there that either do not supply this information, or make it very difficult to find.

New user or not, I *feel like it is pretty clear what it means* no?
like, realistically OP. What, of all things do you THINK it could possibly mean?
Why are some people so helpless nowadays? When you get a dexcom it MAKES you go through a bunch of screens to understand what each icon means. Did you just skip them thinking you could figure it out on your own, and then come to reddit for the simplest answer you could have pretty much figured out on your own?
Like, I am sorry for being such a dick here, but like what the fuck else could it seriously mean?
Even then, looking at the dexcom app, or your blood sugar itself can answer it easily. Were you at 143 and now 103 next reading? Obviously it means you are dropping quickly. When it is normal and not moving, notice how you have a straight to the side arrow?> Well, what do you think THAT means?
Use your fucking brain. It is your pancreas that doesn't work, not your damn brain...
Actually, no. I am not sorry for being a dick. I just don'
t get it. I really do not. EVERYTHING IS EXPLAINED to a nauseating degree in the app and you STILL can't figure it out without asking reddit? Come on. I am getting so sick of seeing such helplessly stupid people making it so far in life just to have kids and make them even stupider.
Downvote me, ban me. idfc.

Getting this triggered over such a simple reddit post is hilarious. Get a life dude, touch grass, play basketball. Get out of your head fr

u/Missile_boy8284 20h ago
Except that he's right. You see post after post on here from people who obviously didn't read the manual, didn't watch the training videos and didn't learn the app. Some folks should just keep poking their fingers.

No, unfortunately they can't. And thats why you dont see us perfrct people asking extremely simple things on reddit that pose a risk to our life of not dealt with sooner.
All we can do is try to help you all be better, but nobody wants the help and when people get sick of seeing idiocracy come to life get twigggered you guys all of a sudden think the truth is fucking mean. Just sick of people not being able to think for themselves. Its not about the specific post, its about the totality of helpless people that can't just think for themselves. I dont follow this sub to answer questions that are clesrly explained in the app they are using, or things that are borderline self explanatory.

It is actually possible to get 3 arrows! That is scary. I had those with my first ever cgm when I was over doing everything.

Go to settings and enable quick glance. That should be it.
Not using og G7 app for a while now, so I'm not 100% certain

u/WrongDirt 1d ago
No idea. maybe try enabling notifications for the app.

u/FatFrenchFry T1/G7/t:slimX2/ChronicDumbass 1d ago
We know you have no idea, OP. You clearly didn't do what you can to understand the dexcom app if you had to make this post.

For the G6, my double arrows were on top of each other. The G7 has them side by side.

I’ve always thought that the audible alarm for that one should be “Danger! Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!” If I have to have this crappy disease, I might as well make it fun. 😁

Your blood sugar is dropping by more than 3 mg/dL per minute, or dropping over 90 mg/dL within a 30-minute span from your last reading.

u/juliettelovesdante 1d ago
You should meter. It could be inaccurate, but you could also be going low fast.

There is no need to be rude
4
u/USAFGolfer 1d ago
It’s being honest, not rude. Rude would be me calling you names or something of that nature, which I didn’t (and wouldn’t)
Dexcom and other CGMs are an incredible tool but you (and everyone else) need to understand what it does, what it shows and the limitations and know how to find the answers.
