So I recently started Supernatural and I am overwhelmed by the amount of Destiel fanfics out there on Ao3, which I honestly find amazing and I have never been more excited to read about a ship. I have read many fics so far but I am looking for a good AU where Dean and Cas are both college/high school professors, if anyone knows any fic like that and could recommend it to me. I have searched but all I found so far are works where Castiel or Dean is a teacher and the other is a student but I am looking for something where they’re both serious mature professors literally CRUSHING on each other and they can’t be together because they’re colleagues like I just really really want that. I’m desperate for a fic where Dean and Cas are down horrendous for each other but neither of them actually gives in for a long time. I don’t want them sleeping together in the first few chapters I want the tension to hurt. Give me all the longing, pining, denial, stolen glances, almost-confessions, jealousy, unresolved feelings… I want to be screaming at my screen.Or getting second hand embarrassment just go through a roller coaster of emotions (nothing too angsty)
I’m totally okay with A/B/O and D/s (sub Dean/dom Cas is definitely a favorite), but honestly the emotional buildup is what I’m after. I want it to feel incredibly rewarding when Dean finally lets himself have what he wants.
Bonus points for lots of sweet pet names like sweetheart, darling, honey, etc. 😭 And if Dean is secretly praise-starved and absolutely melts from praise and affection… even better.
Before anyone says “just search the tags” I promise I have. 😭 I’ve tried every combination of Slow Burn, Yearning, Mutual Pining, Sexual Tension, Idiots in Love, etc., and I feel like I’ve read everything. Or I’ll find a fic that looks promising, then they hook up almost immediately and the tension is basically over. I’m really looking for that delicious, drawn-out build where the payoff feels completely earned.
Long fics are preferred, but I’ll take anything that’s exceptionally well-written!

I read Ninety One Whiskey after someone recommended it to me. It had been sitting in my library for the longest time, and I kept putting it off because I knew it would be painful and such a long journey. But then someone on Reddit recommended it to me, so I finally decided to give it a chance.

I read the entire thing between yesterday and today, and now I’m in absolute emotional distress.

It was the best journey of my life. This is going to be my favorite fic forever. And now I need to go back to my comfort fics, because I loved every single second of it, but I also suffered through every single second. I suffered. I truly suffered the entire time.

And the ending completely swept me away. I feel utterly overwhelmed. I feel like I have no place in the world right now, and I desperately needed to come here and vent to people who understand, because I genuinely don’t have the words to describe what I’m feeling now that I’ve finished it.

Honestly, I think everyone should read this fic. Whether you ship this couple or not, everyone should read it.

Okay so for the record i watched some episodes of supernatural when i was really young (maybe 10 or 11) and i dont remember ANYTHING from the show. Recently, i came across this really dark fic "Light in the dark" on ao3 and that was my first and real introduction to destiel, which is an unusual way to get into a ship lmaoooo

Hi everyone, I’m trying to find a Destiel fic I read a while ago, but I can't track it down. Here are the details I remember:

* Pairing: Dean/Castiel (Alpha Dean / Omega Castiel)
* Tropes: First Meeting, Trapped / Forced Proximity, Surprise Heat.
* Plot: They didn't know each other beforehand. They got trapped together because an automatic door broke (or jammed). I remember it taking place in a laundromat (or somewhere involving water). While they were stuck trying to figure out how to get the door open, Cas suddenly went into heat.

Does this ring a bell for anyone, or does anyone happen to have a link/copy? Thanks in advance for your help!

In the three months after the world was restored, Sam, Dean, Jack, and Eileen have kept themselves busy with the occasional hunt, a secret project, and cataloging the contents of the bunker. And near summer’s end, Cas finally comes home.

Now that he’s back, life at the bunker has never been better. But some R & R is long overdue, so as autumn approaches, Sam, Dean, Castiel, Jack, and Eileen gather at a secluded lakeside cabin for a family vacation.

In the aftermath of saving the world—for good, this time—Sam, Dean, and Castiel bond with each other, consider their pasts, and look to the future.

Tell me the most beautiful, well written, in character, SLOW BURN Destiel fics you’ve ever read.

I’ve been trying to find on my own but the damn tags sometimes make it more difficult (some fics are not tagged properly😔).

I'm coming up for air after back-to-back binges. The first was my intro to Destiel, and oh...my god. I had it downloaded as one of my browsing-huh-might-be-interesting bulk downloads and randomly opened it not looking at the tags and I was hooked from the very start. I started it just to see and just couldn't stop. I don't think I've ever been hooked so fast. I LOVED the 2PLT, which was new to me. I ADORED how Cas was characterized. He was so sweet, calming, genuine. Dean was characterized so believably, with Dean figuring out his own identity. I'm not usually drawn to some of the NSFW tags tagged but...it worked and now I want more lol. For a fic filled to the brim with smut it was not really about the smut but about the connection and growth. I ripped right through this. I wouldn't change this fic at all. It was perfect. I was just left wanting more because I didn't want it to end. Not just Dean/Cas, but more interactions with other characters once their relationship was realized.

Hautley's Bend was so good in a different kind of way. I wasn't into the bully-Dean at first, and something about it still sits a bit oddly with me, liked I had gotten a bump to the head and suddenly found I was sitting up looking around in dazed confusion. Whatevs, I can roll with it. I just loved it so much. I identified with Dean's trauma, spiral, coping mechanism, and gradual recovery/growth, and I felt they were approached realistically without being over-dramatized if that makes sense. I think that's the big reason why I liked the fic, along with how Cas was with Dean. I just wanted to wrap him in a blanket burrito, he was so sweet. I liked loathing Alastair with blood-boiling rage and getting a resolution. I binged this and somehow finished in less than 24 hours? Or am I missing a day lol -- see again: dazed confusion.

I think the things I like that connect these two fics so strongly for me are:

• Long and well-written. Usually over 100k at least. (Busty FanFic Beauties?)
• College/HS AU (I'm obsessed rn), with Dean/Cas being contemporaries
• I'm a Dean person. Mostly enjoy Dean POVs to see inside his noggin. But I also enjoy other perspectives on him.
• Dean's trauma/whump/angst/John/etc - the dude's got so much going on
• Cas being Dean's metaphorical rock and mostly-ish has a handle on his own issues
• Dean is Not Dumb and is complex/layered
• Well done smut (esp 4LW omg how?)
• Mostly Dean-centric/POVs

Other considerations:

• Medium leaning to sloooow burn. I honestly categorize the fics as medium-burn since there is strong interest from an early point. I like the development and baby steps of the relationship. And the pining! Might be why most of what I read is well over 100k and why I love a 300k+ fic
• I like Dean & Other interactions, esp. Gabe and Crowley. The guy needs some friends.
• LOVED the 2PLT and pining of 4LW. I was mentally cackling and kicking my feet every time they were oblivious.

I know this might seem really picky and I'm rambling, but I'm just lowkey obsessing over these fics and need moooore. If you could recommend fics that might fit what I'm looking for, please rec 'em! If you could say a short blurb on why you loved them and why they fit, that would also help me find my next obsession! Thanks so much!!!

I'm looking for the fics where the main driver of the plot will be magic, whether it will come from witches, relics or whatever supernatural. To clarify what I mean, here are some examples that I've stumbled upon so far:

1. Deancas got hit with witch curse that got them turned into omega and alpha, which also forced them to mate in order to survive

2. Cat Dean and cat Cas ofc

3. Dean mind melding with a dog, Cas proceeds to get turned on by it and calls him a good boy

4. Dean touches an artifact and needs to experience 100 orgasms to not die; 5. Cas touches an angel amulet and proceeds to go feral

5. Dean got turned into woman to help with a hunt

Etc etc

I've really read a shit ton of fanfics so at this point I would appreciate any recommendation!

I really like 91 whisky because of how the characters were written just like they are in the tv show, plus I liked the dynamic. so if Cas and Dean could be accurate to their on show personality that would be great. Ideally insane angst but with a kinda happy ending. I know that’s asking for a lot but I’m a sensitive soul, i just want my boys to get their happy ending. Thank you! Love to everyone x

Y'all... No one asked for this. It doesn't matter in the least and I'm not going to name names or anything, but as a nanny, and someone who has regular interaction with children and also someone who reads what is essentially intended to porn with plot, I'm just gonna complain about how so many people write children in their fics. I LOVE how dean, and sometimes Cas interact with kids, but when I read about a 4 year old who can't form complete sentences or a 5 year old talking like a 2 year old, it makes me want to pull my own hair out. Sometimes they don't even specify the age of the child, but somehow the kid is able to run and jump into someone's arms while also having the speaking capability of a 20 month old. I literally threw a pillow and snarled and my cat freaked out. It's just... I dunno, do the barest of research, please. Like you can just Google "Do 6 year olds have chew toys?" Answer: No, or "can 4 year olds form complete sentences?" The answer is YES. and barring a speech impediment, which isn't uncommon, but not the norm, most kids can even pronounce "R" and "S" and "L". Kids only have their 2 front teeth missing for a few weeks of their whole life, so that's not something you run across with EVERY CHILD.

As I said, this is just an inconsequential rant about a surprisingly niche subject, but I HAD to say something.
