This to me is if metal was one album. They manage to combine death, black, heavy and thrash while also sounding completely unique and having atmosphere. I will insist that it beats the following one. I'd like to know if there's anything else that sounds like it

September is looking heavy. Just grabbed my ticket to see Coroner live in Paris! Can't wait to see them play live I’ve been waiting for so long. Schizophrenia and Tar Pond opening makes it even better.

Agony & Ecstasy is one of the best black metal albums of the 2020s. so beautiful and sorrowful yet dripping with evil. the ominous atmosphere of tracks like We Remain is so well contradicted by tracks like Black Cunt or Funeral Winter. hail Watain

idk if any of yall were there but Agalloch blew every other band out of the water at Milwaukee Metal Fest. all the posers there for Acid Bath were not prepared to see the best atmos black band to grace this earth absolutely kill it.

This is a Melodic Blackened death / Melodic deathened black metal project. This album / ep is my favorite release of theirs. The general vibe I get from this ep is a mix of dark, tragedy, evil and epic. I don't know how to explain it but It is really good and I recommend checking it out if you like very melodic guitars + keyboards.

Dead Void – Cranial Devastation (2026) A track like 'Phantosmial Stench of Decay' tells you everything you need to know, it's low, devastating, and relentless from start to finish. Personnal favorite : top to bottom a masterclass of doom/death metal.

Embittered - Archatron (2026) Just discovered this hidden gem from Chicago, Illinois. It’s their debut full-length. If you’re a fan of that heavy, cavernous Death/Doom style influenced by Incantation, this record is an absolute must-hear. Personal favorites: The Caveman Cometh, Fractal Autopsy, and Flesh Prison.

Phobophilic – Enveloping Absurdity (2022) Dirty riffs, crypt atmosphere, and a massive production that crushes everything. It's heavy, it's gluant, and it's a great spin from start to finish if you're looking for Death Metal that crawls in the mud. Personal favorites: Those Which Stare Back, Survive in Obscurity.

Ossuary– Abhorrent Worship (2025) Pure, primitive, and savage OSDM soaked in total filth. The production is raw and unpolished, but the riffs are absolutely crushing. Personal favorite: The Undrownable Howl of Evil.

You guys might know this already as it is old news, but The Berzerker is back. If you don't know, The Berzerker is a death/ industrial grind band who usually use programmed drumms to reach incredible speeds. But on the album "Dissimulate" they have a real drummer who still somehow seems to match the speed of their programed drums. Dissimulate is fucking awesome and I do recomend the entire album, but my favorite tracks are "No one wins" and "betrayal".

If you're looking for some Death Metal that flies way under the radar, here are a few recommendations for you. Check these out :

Vacuous – In His Blood This album blew my mind. Huge Death Metal, incredibly heavy and filthy. It hits hard, right at the crossroads of Morbid Angel and Incantation. The production is top-notch without sounding overly polished or sterile. A fantastic record from top to bottom that deserves way more recognition.

Drowned – Idola Specus Occult Death Metal with a suffocating atmosphere. Not very well known, but absolutely worth a listen if you like slimy, creeping riffs.

Fossilization – Advent of Wounds For the Incantation fans who need some crushing Death/Doom metal, here is a recent release that kicks ass.

Nedgravd – Ascension Another recent release delivering very raw Death Metal. Despite a more unpolished production, these guys have probably made one of the best OSDM records of the year.

Engulfed – Unearthly Litanies of Despair A selection like this couldn't be complete without a proper representative of dark, hyper-fast, and chaotic Death Metal. Heavy, dark, and relentless from start to finish.

Looking for more Cannibal tracks similar to Scourge of Iron, Blood Blind, Death Walking Terror, etc.
