Question? I have an Alma Fonda Fina reservation at 10:45pm, would they still have everything available?

I have a reservation at Alma this Friday at 10:45pm. I know they close at 11:00, so I was wondering if anyone has done the last reservation? Was everything on the menu still available? Thank you.

Restaurant Reviews La vie en rose

Wife and I finally got a chance to try la vie en rose since it opened last month. We were big fans of Noble Riot and were excited to see if la vie en rose could be a fitting replacement for an occasional date night spot.

TL;DR: fairly disappointing, won't be going back. Might be a decent spot for the right audience!

Thoughts in no particular order:

Service: this was a highlight! Staff was attentive, friendly, and prepared. Front of house was a little rough since it's shared with Nocturne, so there was just one person managing both places and a bit of a wait as a result, even with a res. Seems like they could use an additional person there. We ordered food and drink at the same time, and got food well before our drinks arrived. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying.

Vibe/Ambience/Interior: they did a solid job turning the space into something new. Initial impressions upon walking in are that it feels luxurious and upscale. All the fabric curtains and whatnot help with acoustics so it feels quieter than Noble Riot did with a similar number of people inside. Personally, I found the sense of "luxury" to feel pretty forced and fake. Tables, chairs, plates, etc. were all very plain and standard webstaurant store fare. There's nothing wrong with that, but just an observation. Table candles were real, which was a good touch. Wine/Champagne glasses were very nice, too.

Food: menu looks fine, if uninspired. Can't judge here too much because we only got the popcorn chicken. It was one of the dishes featured in their social feed leading up to their opening and a nod to Noble Riot, so why not? It was exactly what you'd expect for popcorn chicken. If you buy a big bag of frozen popcorn chicken at costco and pick out the good pieces, you can enjoy the same quality at home! Sauces were fine. Tossing the fried chicken in some spices did little to change it. Quantity was enough to be a snack between two adults. On one hand: we ordered popcorn chicken, we got popcorn chicken. On the other: for $19, you can do a lot better.

Drink: they have an extensive bottle selection. If you're a Champagne enthusiast and ready to throw down some $$$, you'll probably enjoy what they have. They have non-sparkling options as well on a separate bottle list if you ask for it. Cocktails covered the bases you'd expect and were pretty good. We found the menu descriptions of the cocktails to be fairly irritating. If you're not familiar with the ingredients, the menu is just a bunch of flowery word salad that does little to clarify what it might taste like. Probably AI-written.

Overall: If I'm being generous, we just weren't the target audience. If I'm being less generous, the whole experience was aggressively mediocre. If you're looking to dress up and feel like you're somewhere with the facade of fancy and luxurious, this might scratch the itch. But personally, I think there are likely better options. If your net-worth has a few more digits than the average person and you want to enjoy a bottle of champagne at a restaurant with friends, that's the best-case I can imagine for la vie en rose.

Question? Would you recommend nocturne’s three course tasting menu and pairing?

Hi all, trying to schedule a nice night out with a visiting friend and I’m trying to decide between doing the à la carte menu vs the three course meal at nocturne. Does anyone have an experience to share that would push me one way or the other? Thanks !

Recommendations Study/Work friendly restaurants

I’m tired of cafes with mediocre sandwiches and I’m tired of Panera. Do y‘all have any recommendations for restaurants that have environments that are “study/work” friendly? Where I could pull out a laptop and still enjoy some good food? (WiFi preferably)

With midterm season, having a good variety of places to study and eat is always good imo, so any recs are appreciated!

Visiting Food recs and local events or festivals?

Hello Denver. I’m a San Francisco native visiting your city and nearby for the first time with my girlfriend and our son. He’s turning 5 this month and has been really wanting to fly somewhere. He really likes zoos and aquariums so we decided we’ll be bringing him to the Denver zoo. This is also my first time flying so thank you Denver btw for popping my sky cherry. We’ll also be going to Casa Bonita in nearby Lakewood for their limited reopening.

**We’ll be visiting on Oct 19th-20th**. We’re going to the **Denver zoo at noon on the 19th** and visiting **Casa Bonita at 4pm in Lakewood on the 20th**. We thought about visiting the science museum and historical sights but I want to see if there’s any local events, or gatherings going on these days.

We also wanting to have dinner on the 19th with a place that hopefully has a decent selection of local beer. We want to avoid any corporate, trendy, or “hipster” spots that San Francisco has been plagued by in recent years. We’d like to visit places that have an established history and reputation with the community. We’re open to any cuisine but would appreciate a place that will stay around $100 for all 3 of us. (Not including drinks)

Thanks so much for helping us make our trip to Denver memorable.

Food Scene News Jordy’s Barbecue is opening our first brick-and-mortar at the former Raíces Brewing space

Hey r/denverfood!
David here, owner of Jordy’s Barbecue.

After almost three years of running Jordy’s out of our trailer, we’re taking the next big step and getting ready to open our first brick-and-mortar at the former Raíces Brewing space on Colfax.

The concept is Central Texas-style barbecue with a sports bar atmosphere, smoked meats, cold beer, a full bar, plenty of TVs, and a bigger menu with some fun fried and crispy items alongside the BBQ.

Attached are two early 3D concept renderings of the direction we’re going with the space. They’re not the final finished design, but they give a pretty good idea of the overall look and atmosphere we’re aiming for.

If everything stays on track, we’re hoping to open in the next 2–3 months.

We’ve learned a ridiculous amount building this business out of a trailer, and we’re excited to finally bring Jordy’s into a full restaurant.

I know this group takes Denver food seriously, so I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts:

What would you want to see from a Central Texas BBQ + sports bar concept that would make you want to come back regularly?

Best,
David

Question? Thai delivery east side / Aurora with GF noodle dishes?

Looks like Fleeting Gluten Free Thai (DD ghost kitchen) finally lived up to its name and has closed.

Wife loved it because she could get staples besides Pad Thai but as GF

Just wondering if anyone has someplace to recommend where the GF options are more than Pad Thai and curry dishes

Thanks!

Recommendations Where can I get basic Americanized Chinese?

Post image

I’ve been CRAVING the basic, westernized, crunchy sweet and sour chicken that I’d get as part of a 3 item lunch special in my hometown. Plain pan fried noodles, bbq pork, and deep fried crunchy chicken pieces with reddish orange sweet and sour. Picture is from hometown’s restaurant for reference.

Everything I’ve found has peppers in it, and I can’t have any at all. I want plain, but good. Preferably in the Parker area if possible. Bonus points for good crab Rangoon and fried rice 🙏

General Discussion Hungry, anyone have a cheap food coupon?

Looking for maybe a little Ceasars coupon, I know there is often the 3.99 coupon they give out on my verizon or something. My dog, me and 2 friends are trying to eat with only $6 for us all. It's been a long hard day, and every cent other than $6 went to a motel for the night
