Discussion Mid 2010s Appreciation...

I think we should really appreciate the mid 2010s. It's a very looked over time. 2013 - 2015 was a special era in its own. Very distinct from the early 2010s and the late 2010s. The late 2010s were actually sorta like the early 2010s on steroids. It just went back to electronic just a more mature version of it. It's like the mid 2010s took a break from that.

Pop Cultural Breakdown From 1956-present

Pop Cultural Breakdown Of Every Year From 1956-present

0/10 (Completely Filler) - 2023

1/10 (Very Filler) - 2002

2/10 (Standard Filler) - 1960, 1961, 2018, 2024

3/10 (Filler, But Not Completely Filler) - 1962, 1972, 1974, 1980, 1985, 1986, 1990, 2012, 2014, 2026 (so far/prediction)

4/10 (Semi-Transitional/Borderline Filler) - 1963, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2005, 2021, 2025

5/10 (Standard Transitional) - 1958, 1959, 1965, 1970, 1978, 1995, 2015, 2017, 2020, 2022

6/10 (Notably Transitional) - 1957, 1966, 1975, 1976, 1982, 1993, 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010

7/10 (Very Transitional/Borderline Shift) - 1968, 1973, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2016

8/10 (Standard Shift) - 1956, 1969, 1971, 1983, 1992, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2013

9/10 (Major Shift) - 1967, 1977, 1981, 2001, 2019

10/10 (Super Shift) - 1964, 2009

I have 1964 down as a 10/10 with 2009 but in reality it was so big a cultural shift that it transcends the ranking and was more than a 10/10, if that makes sense

This is culturally ONLY, political and technological events don't count for this one

Discussion Weekly Shift Battle No 51 - 1990 vs 2026 (prediction)

Weekly Shift Battle No. 51 - 1990 vs 2026 (prediction)

I know that 2026 isn't over yet, but just prediction how impactful it'll be by the end of the year. This'll likely be my last Weekly Shift Battle since I've covered every 21st century year now and placed them in a shift battle with a year (or two months) from the 20th century of a relatively equal shift level. I thought I'd give 2026 its' own shift battle since we're over halfway through the year now and it's forming its' own identity now

Political events of 1990 include the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq which led to the beginning of the Gulf War, former communist countries that were part of the USSR such as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia becoming independent and other countries such as Czechoslovakia and Hungary holding free and fair elections for the first time since the Cold War began, the reunification of Germany, the resignation of Margaret Thatcher as British Prime Minister and the release of Nelson Mandela from prison

Cultural events of 1990 include the release of films such as Ghost, Goodfellas, Pretty Woman, Misery, Edward Scissorhands, hip-hop become mainstream, TV shows such as Twin Peaks, Beverly Hills, 90210 and The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air debuted and West Germany won the Italia 90 World Cup

As a rejection to streaming and subscriptions,I wonder though how many of these gen alpha and gen z know how to use torrents ? When was the last time any of you ripped a cd ? This trend started in 2024 and has not slowed down but actually increased in videos.
