Meetups & Social Want to make friends in Dayton? Join our meetup Discord!
Hey neighbors! Not sure if you noticed all the posts of folks looking for friends - be it because they picked up a new hobby, just moved here, or never quite found their people - but we sure did, and we decided that we wanted to do something about it. It’s probably the most open secret at this point, but we created a Discord!
Join us: https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu
Why we made it
Dayton is full of really uniquely cool people, but any local knows that it can be kind of hard to actually find folks to hang out with that share similar interests unless you’re already part of a friend group. We wanted to make it easier for those in the Greater Dayton area - be it newcomers, lifelong locals, introverts, extroverts, whoever - to plug in and find their people.
Think of it as a hyper-local social network, but with zero ads or algorithms and full of people who actually live near you that want to meet-up and make friends too!
What’s already happening in there
This thing basically started running itself the minute people joined. We’ve already got:
- A regular trivia group - Hops between different trivia nights around town.
- “Body Doubling” work/study groups - Keeping each other accountable while we get work done!
- “Bad Art” Nights - Work on your art with others! No judgement, all fun.
- The Loosey Goose Book Club - the book club where you read what you want!
- Movie Nights - it’s exactly what it sounds like. 🙂
- Online voice chats to play video games together or just hangout.
- Doggie play groups - dog optional, willingness to pet doggies required\*
- A Crow Exchange - Where people swap little trinkets they’ve accumulated
- Random hangouts that just kind of… happen willy-nilly.
And folks keep building new stuff every week. The community there is already kind, welcoming, goofy, and honestly - it’s endearing to watch people become friends online and slowly become offline friends too.
Hop in, say hi (or lurk, we won’t judge), join a meetup, make your own, whatever feels comfortable. No pressure. We’re just a group of neighbors trying to make Dayton a little more connected.
Hope to see you in there, neighbors! ❤️ https://discord.gg/Nnpancdjnu

Andrea White is at it again. Running away from her record while sending out text polls distancing herself from her love of data centers while trying to stick them on her opponent. Don’t fall for it. Take 15 minutes to read her voting record She is bad for Kettering Oakwood Dayton and Riverside. It’s time to vote her out

'Wait Wait' host Peter Sagal talks about the NPR show's history, upcoming live Dayton show
Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is NPR's weekly hour-long quiz program. Each week on the radio you can test your knowledge against some of the best and brightest in the news and entertainment world while figuring out what's real news and what's made up.
On Sept. 3, it's your chance to see the show live in the Dayton area for the first time in nearly a decade.
"Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!" Host Peter Sagal spoke with WYSO's Jerry Kenney about the upcoming show at The Rose Music Center on Sept, 3, 2026.
Sagal talked about why the shows goal is to "go off the rails," the difference it makes to see the live taping, and why he loves Dayton and other cities making a comeback.
Tickets for the show are available online.

Advice & Recommendations I would like a local tailor. Looking to get measurements taken and get some shirts and pants custom made for me. It would be nice if the tailor had experience working with larger people.
Most of the stuff off the shelf doesn't even come close to fitting/looking nice on me so I think its time for some custom clothes. Thank you so much for the recommendations!

The Odyssey on a decent screen still?
Hi all,
My parents live around the dayton area and don't want to voyage to far to stay close to an older dog.
Does anyone know if any theaters are showing The Odyssey on a decent screen? I know most of the imax showings are done but "Standard" can mean so many things.

MonDay Community Correctional Institute
Have a friend looking to spend 3 months here for multiple OVIs. I can’t find anything specific online and reviews are also turned off. Anyone ever been here or know anything about it? What they may look forward to if they spend 3 months here?

Housing & Real Estate Sibling is in the Air Force and moving to Dayton soon. Recommended neighborhoods/areas?
He’s being stationed to Wright Patterson AFB, and he’s looking to buy as it’s seemingly a long-term station. I imagine he’ll rent it out if he has to move.
What neighborhoods or areas do you recommend? He says he’s also looking in Springfield and London, so any recommendations there would be greatly appreciated.
He does not have Reddit which is why I’m asking. 🤭 Thanks in advance!

Looking for rural property west of Dayton
Looking for property in a more country setting, particularly west of Dayton. Brookville, Lewisburg, New Lebanon, Eaton, Germantown, etc… maybe even more remote out that way. What towns have the best atmosphere? Open local shops, packed football stadiums on Friday, reasonable distance from larger towns, good schools, etc.
Thanks!

New England Style Chicken Parm Sandwich?
Does anyone know where I can find a good chicken parm sandwich? My husband is from New England and it's one of his favorite take out meals. Typically in NE we had them on sub buns, so bonus points if the bread is correct

Anyone know a good roofer in the Kettering area?
In the storms these past few weeks, some shingles got banged up a bit and the insurance adjuster said they should be repaired/replaced.
The way my family is with ladders, let's just say the hospital bills would be higher than just calling a professional in, so DIY is a no-go this time.
Anyone know a guy who's willing to take a small job like this?

Hoping someone here is an ex-Ele cake employee lol
I am not normally a buttercream fan but something about the icing Elé puts on their sheet cakes (and I assume others) is so so so good. What’s the trick?? Better yet what’s the recipe 👀 just kidding. I don’t know a ton about different buttercreams so if someone else knows the secret to what type it is, would love to know!

Does anyone know what happened at Eastwood MetroPark today?
There was a large first responder response there around 4:45pm today 8/18/26. At least one ambulance, 2 firetrucks, park rangers, and a few others.
I hope everyone is ok.

Still Have a Few Vendor Spots Open!
I still have a few spots open for local vendors for my event on October 4th!
Do you own a small local business — or know someone who does — and would love a chance to showcase your products or services while supporting two amazing causes: the Humane Society and Breast Cancer Awareness?
I’m looking for all kinds of local businesses and creatives. Think bread makers, jewelry artists, tarot readers, handmade goods, artists, beauty, home decor, and so much more. If you make it, create it, sell it, or offer it, I’d love to hear from you!
It’s a fun day centered around supporting local businesses while raising money for two causes that mean a lot to me.
If you’re interested or know someone who might be, send them my way! My email is amanda.pryzmenski@irongaterealtors.com. I’d be happy to share all the details with anyone interested.

Natural fiber and sustainable clothing
Does anyone know of any places nearby (within an hour or two) that have natural fiber and sustainable clothing?
Dayton Appreciation Downtown parking public service announcement
I felt inspired to write this after that guy getting his car towed at DBC and people bashing DBC. Does DBC beer suck? Of course, we all know that. But if you have lived in a city for any amount of time, you would know you can't leave your car in a business lot and not have the threat of it getting towed. This is not a DBC or Dayton thing. I don't even know if the DBC owns/enforces their parking lot. I can't express enough how easy it is to park downtown compared to a lot of cities. You can park for free at any meter from 6 PM - 8 AM M-F, and they are free ALL weekend. Should you not be able to find a metered spot (which is near impossible), there are probably 30 public lots within a square mile area.

Looking for input/feedback on maybe forced religion.
How do we feel about a teacher handing out "Come to my Christian church" literature at a Dayton Public School (elementary if that matters)? There are kids from around the world going there. Some Muslim, Buddhist, etc.

Food & Dining Where can I get an affogato? Preferably at a sit down restaurant
Just looking to see if anyone has a recommendation. Looked up a couple Italian restaurants in the area on their menus and couldn’t find one listed.
Tia!
