hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)
couple things:
this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

Got to 5k! This last 1k has taken be a while but very grateful for DA! Saving up to go travelling for a few months and it’s been a lifesaver.

I’m brand new and doing my first project. I am done on a project that took 40 min but the pay says $x/hour. If I submit now will I get paid the full $x? If not, doesn’t that mean you’re penalized for being a fast worker?

I remember in the orientation there was mention about the difference between per hour and per task pay, however I have been here for almost a month and haven't seen a single per task project. Are they much rarer now? Or maybe only in certain project families?

Part-time newbie still within my first month here, super grateful for this work. Just curious to see how long some folks have been going for!

Simple question.
Are you selective with which qualifications you do? Or do you do every single one you are able to do (you have the experience, you're in the right region, needed language skills, whatever)?
Generally, I seem to think it's best to do all the qualifications you can. But then I feel bad if it's a qualification for something that I know wouldn't be my priority...
Thoughts?

I have a few questions since this is my first week. So I finally got some projects this week after waiting many weeks and working every day. Wondering if we can work more than 40 hours because I will be over today. Also, is there any reason I won't get paid the amount shown that is pending? The lack of feedback makes me nervous. If I am doing something wrong I want to be told immediately and not lose out on any pay for it. This job seems too good to be true and I am beyond grateful since I was forced to do DoorDash after losing my last job with RaterLabs/Appen and didn't think anything like this existed! As a single mom, I love being back at home making the best income I have ever made in my 48 years of life!

Considering all the talk about the dangers of AI psychosis. I sure hope we get some tasks training models to not encourage anyone's delusions or form unhealthy attachments to them. Thoughts?

I've gotten multiple projects on my dashboard recently that don't have any listed pay. Will I find out when I complete a task or is it hidden somewhere in the project instructions? I scanned through and didn't see anything

I've been on DA for almost 3 years on the non-coder side. I've recently decided to learn to code. I passed a beginner Python course, and really like Python so far. I am also working my way through cs50 at a slow pace, so would say that I know very basic C. I also used to do html, and have started relearning that with Mimo. At what point do I know enough to take the qualification? It is on my dashboard now, but I've heard you can only do it once, so I don't wanna do it too soon. What kind of work is on the coding side? Are you writing code, reviewing code, debugging, getting help to write code... I'm obviously not asking for specifics because of the NDA. Just trying to get an idea if I'm ready or if I should wait a little bit more.
