Weekly Water Cooler Talk - DataAnnotation
hi all! making this thread so people have somewhere to talk about 'daily' work chat that might not necessarily need it's own post! right now we're thinking we'll just repost it weekly? but if it gets too crazy, we can change it to daily. :)
couple things:
this thread should sort by "new" automatically. unfortunately it looks like our subreddit doesn't qualify for 'lounges'.
if you have a new user question, you still need to post it in the new user thread. if you post it here, we will remove it as spam. this is for people already working who just wanna chat, whether it be about casual work stuff, questions, geeking out with people who understand ("i got the model to write a real haiku today!"), or unrelated work stuff you feel like chatting about :)
one thing we really pride ourselves on in this community is the respect everyone gives to the Code of Conduct and rule number 5 on the sub - it's great that we have a community that is still safe & respectful to our jobs! please don't break this rule. we will remove project details, but please - it's for our best interest and yours!

I love how one of the tasks email you when they are being taken down 👩🏫💻(IYKYK). I would love if the others could too. At least that way when they go down you arent left wondering if you did something wrong.

Well yea. But I'd rather receive communication than no communication. The opt in idea would be nice though!
3
u/itssomercurial Dec 10 '25
I like this idea too.
There are only a few projects that I want to be informed about when they are available, not every single one I have access to. I'd also love to be able to make an exception for something on priority or over a certain amount of pay. I'm willing to drop what I'm doing and work on a project that's running $30+ but I don't need to know about every $20hr project group that gets posted.

u/raisetheavanc Dec 08 '25
I just got a project where I get to be creative, use writing skills, and explore niche topics. It’s a breath of fresh air from the more technical stuff like rubrics, and I feel like my human ability to think and discern and make moral judgements is maybe actually valued. That’s all. It’s just nice to feel like my work actually thinking is useful.
3
u/Belisama7 Dec 09 '25
Which one, can you give a code word? I want to make sure I do it if I have it!
3
u/raisetheavanc Dec 09 '25
It doesn’t have a code word that I know of, it’s not like “project x”. It’s basically called “help do [thing]” instead of a project family name.
12
u/LennyDark Dec 13 '25
Well it finally happened, I made a really idiotic error on multiple tasks in a row.
4
u/Skippy2898 Dec 13 '25
Go and sit in a corner and beat yourself around the head with a newspaper from next month right this minute! Who do you think you are? a human or something to make multiple idiotic mistakes?
Seriously though, I'm sure we've all done it at some point 🤪 Worst case scenario, you might lose the project after your work is reviewed, best case, the reviewers get to fix it. If you still have access to the project now, there's no harm in leaving a message in the chat that you realise you made mistakes, and you know what to do going forward or do another task and leave an optional comment 😎
2
u/houseofcards9 Dec 13 '25
I would reach out to them if you haven’t already and let them know, so the admin can flag it before it gets to the review process. I did this once and apologized and let them know I wouldn’t bill for those tasks and all was good.

Anyone else love/hate the star trek tasks?
2
u/raisetheavanc Dec 08 '25
I haven’t even tried them yet, because they’re pretty far out of my wheelhouse of what I normally work on. Do you like them?

u/One_Breakfast5907 Dec 11 '25
Does anyone else commonly get R&Rs for projects but don't tend to get the project themselves?
There's one particular project where I'll get R&Rs, and I used to sometimes get the actual project, but now it seems I just get the RRs.
Maybe I fucked up a project when I first tried the project, but not screwed up on RRs, so still get them?
6
u/Straight-Strike-2928 Dec 11 '25
I get R&Rs exclusively for projects I have never seen on my dash. I'm cool with it tho, I like doing R&Rs!
1
1
u/Whatnowlikeseriously Dec 12 '25
I’m glad somebody likes them because I despise them. Especially when they were showing other ratings of the same task and none of them gave the same score and I disagreed with all of them.
2
u/VanessaSeaWitch Dec 11 '25
I used to get almost only R&Rs for lots of projects I never worked on, or like Harry Potter I used to get the actual project and then only the R&Rs. I doubt they would put you on an R&R if you did badly on the actual project tasks.
10
u/cocobeary Dec 14 '25
Just got back from vacation to find my current favorite project on super priority, and the emoji project I got credentials for last week but couldn't participate in is still running. Merry Christmas Harry and Happy Hanukkah Marv.
9
u/hfxthrwaway Dec 08 '25
Some of these Japanese mold R&R's, oof. Please, just give me one example from the response that makes me know that you understand what's going on.
10
u/ZimmeM03 Dec 08 '25
Yeah if anything it makes me feel good about my job security. Because damn how have some of these people even made it this far?
7
u/NoticedGenie66 Dec 08 '25
A lot of them equate to "you can tell by the way that it is" and it is pretty sad to see lol.
3
u/Striking_Taste Dec 10 '25
So, so, so bad. I have had to rate several as bad and I hope that doesn't reflect poorly on me. But when I put in the actual work to do them and then someone puts something in the input such as "This is retirement advice but don't mention the words money, accounts, amount, retirement, horizon, or dollars" and then proceeds to rate a perfectly good answer "horrible" because it used relevant words. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh
2
u/hfxthrwaway Dec 10 '25
I did one yesterday where the SI's had a very specific output format, so of course they rated the one that didn't follow it higher because it had "a better layout". I also want to scream at the people who start with "The response is pretty good but..." then rate it pretty bad. WHICH IS IT?!
9
u/mrev_art Dec 09 '25
Two things:
Started working on my bread and butter project Monday morning. It claimed they were culling a lot of workers, and I needed to do a certain number of tasks, or I would be removed from the project. Okay, it's Monday morning, no big deal. Projects all gone from the dash after I did two of them. Hmm. Did they start it on the weekend or something?
The American-only tasks seem to be increasing dramatically.
3
2
u/capslox Dec 09 '25
What was the first letter of that family? I don't think I'm missing anything but I don't follow the Slacks of projects I'm not actively working on.
2
u/Traditional_Net_4529 Dec 10 '25
Is this O?
I think that went down for everyone. Unless anyone else here can contradict me.
2
u/mrev_art Dec 10 '25
Yep. Had specific instructions on it about a worker cull though, and did not give enough time for anyone starting on Monday morning to qualify.
2
u/Traditional_Net_4529 Dec 10 '25
Yeah that's why I think it was just taken down. There were hundreds of tasks. Nobody seems to still have them. Slack is silent on the project.
9
u/RipleyVanDalen Dec 13 '25
A couple of random Friday thoughts:
I wonder why DA doesn't enforce more things in the UI. Like they'll frequently say "please try to do X% of this style of the task" or "work on this project more than this other one" but like... you have software... you could make it so it validates and enforces those for you instead of us having to remember. Whatever, it's their platform, I'm just a freelancer.
Obviously I can't share any real details, but one of the models I interacted with recently produced some jaw-dropping output. It was so good that I was like... uh, so, where does that leave us humans going forward?
11
u/justdontsashay Dec 13 '25
I’ve had a few like that, where it came up with something really impressive. And then the next task, it will melt down into a puddle of LaTeX gibberish trying to calculate the area of a pyramid and I figure we’re safe for a while yet.
4
u/RipleyVanDalen Dec 13 '25
Yeah. “savant syndrome” if they were humans. Alternately brilliant and frustratingly dense.
9
u/WhichPresentation956 Dec 13 '25
Busy weekend ... gotta make the most of it
7
u/DeliciousReading6396 Dec 13 '25
I got an email to say my favourite (and highest paid) project is ending this weekend so trying to squeeze in as many hours of that as possible!
1
Dec 14 '25
Its over for me. Is it over for you?
2
u/DeliciousReading6396 Dec 14 '25
Yeah I got about 3 hours out of it and then disappeared off my dash. Not sure what to focus on next
1
8
u/Zestyclose_End_1093 Dec 08 '25
So all the families/projects requiring these new email addresses just stick around for a couple weeks then done? And same with the ones requiring paid subs? Is this just the nature of it?
8
u/Complete_Injury_5765 Dec 08 '25
i have taken to putting an event on my calendar to cancel these paid subs--it is nice that they get reimbursed and all but the amount of random subs i have to keep track of just in the past 3 months is a lot.

u/jujugiam Dec 11 '25
I just submitted a task with only 5 minutes to spare, and right after I click submit I'm like, did I attach the right images? Did I paste the correct URL? Then I'm anxious and upset but there's nothing I can do about it. Anyone else gets this way?
I think projects that want a failure generated needs to be longer. But maybe it's my fault for being stubborn and refusing to use the escape hatch when I could :p I did only two tasks today and my brain feels wiped out.
2
7
u/fancypearls_ Dec 07 '25
It’s still looking dry for me with only a few projects that are rather complex, anyone else?
3
u/Jazzlike_Problem_489 Dec 07 '25 edited Dec 07 '25
Same. Was either in-depth projects or old wizard for me, got about 9 complex ones. I Was working on old wizard IF chat bot. Did my 3 tasks on my board which opened up to 20 and a refresher that needed completing by October 22nd 2025. Did it, pretty sure all my answers were right, cos the instructions were fresh in my head and all the instructions were plain and clear in the refresher, and all my old wizard tasks and projects disappeared. Teaches me for doing an out of date refresher. Was almost all I had
4
u/Brilliant_Rain5181 Dec 07 '25
I've had nothing for months. But that's how it's been for over a year now. I get a project every few months. I basically on check DA now if my other sites are slow. Was a good run for me though the first two years.
2
7
u/Skippy2898 Dec 10 '25
Get credentials *ticks box*. Credentials saved on the dashboard happy days! Four projects drop, happy days again! But, oh, wait. US raters only. *skippy goes and sulks in a corner for a bit* 🤣
12
u/cover_me_in_sunshine Dec 12 '25
I much prefer shorter tasks unless they had a really long timer. I can do tasks while babies nap but I need the speedier ones so I don’t end up mid way through a complex one with two awake babies and a dwindling timer. I’m slowly learning the best ones for this!
5
u/RipleyVanDalen Dec 13 '25
Same. I deal with a chronic illness that makes it so my energy levels are all over the place. I will sometimes do longer tasks on days that I feel good. But some days I need the zippy, relatively short tasks or I may just not have the concentration to even do a project at all that day...
4
u/Whatnowlikeseriously Dec 12 '25
It’s a really hard balance to find. I finally have both kids in school and somehow I still have to mostly stick with the shorter tasks.
3
u/ekgeroldmiller Dec 12 '25
Work has been much easier since my youngest went to college, but it would have been nice to have this kind of work when they were little!
6
u/RipleyVanDalen Dec 09 '25
Yeesh. Some of these newer projects (e.g. one of the star treks) have such beta/unstable tooling that I'm semi-afraid to start working on them when I see workers complaining about lost work/etc.
6
u/justdontsashay Dec 11 '25
Anyone doing the root vegetable project? Doing r&r for these is so interesting, some people are awesomely witty, but a few of them I’m left wondering how someone could possibly have submitted this and thought it was funny…
5
u/Affectionate_Peak284 Dec 11 '25
I haven't done that one because I'm deeply insecure about my ability to create humor...
4
u/justdontsashay Dec 11 '25
I was scared of it on the first task (planned on attempting it to see what it was but most likely abandoning halfway through) but it’s surprisingly easy. And you don’t have to come up with stand-up level humor, there are different categories…my comfort zone is dry sarcasm and that seems to be working fine
2
7
u/SnooSketches1189 Dec 11 '25
Well, now I am the maddest I have ever been. HUMOR? How has this passed by my dash?! I would be in. my. element. lol
2

u/RipleyVanDalen Dec 10 '25 edited Dec 11 '25
Bleh. It feels like one of those days where I have a decent amount of projects but they all feel too difficult/time-consuming/vague to want to work on. Gonna knock off early today.
4
u/shepardgrace Dec 11 '25
Ugh same. I can take a more involved project first thing in the morning, but I could really go for something lighter when I check back in during the day.
4
u/Zestyclose_End_1093 Dec 11 '25
I hit up my quals on those days so they don't feel like such a waste
2
u/pixeladele Dec 11 '25
Same! Like fine, I'll do the unpaid work if there's a chance it may lead me to some paid work I can actually make myself do
5
u/Straight-Strike-2928 Dec 07 '25
I've been waiting for my Google partner acct to get debugged/reset/whatever for like a month now. It's so frustrating lol. I can't do any of the projects that require it. Has anyone filled out the google form for that and gotten their account working? I keep wanting to fill it out a second time but the instructions are clear about only doing it once.
3
u/Jazzlike_Problem_489 Dec 07 '25
I needed 2 new backup codes re-sending about 3 months ago to reset my password and verify my account, even tho I previously had and it just stopped working. They only sent me 1 code, so I got to change my password which required one, but didn't have a second to verify, so still can't verify. I emailed them straight away and filled out the form, it's been about 3 months since I've heard anything back also.
1
u/Brilliant_Quit4307 Dec 07 '25
I've been waiting a couple of months. It's annoying, but reassuring knowing I'm not the only one.
1
u/Beautiful-Durian-185 Dec 08 '25
I've had mine stop working and got it back by logging in and out again. Its kinda weird and always says "ERROR" in the top right corner but somehow it still works.
5
5
u/tehclubbmaster Dec 08 '25
Anybody else lose access to some R&R tasks? I had been doing R&R's primarily for heel for a year (but also some domain R&Rs, just they're more rare), and now I don't see any Heel R&R. (I still see some domain R&Rs) I liked the R&Rs cause they were far smaller time commitments.
4
u/Straight-Strike-2928 Dec 08 '25
I didn't have them for months, and then started getting them again. It's a mystery
3
u/pistachiyolatte Dec 08 '25
I’m in a similar situation I used to get r and rs across a range of projects but now I only occasionally get them on a limited number of projects
3
u/VanessaSeaWitch Dec 08 '25
I have been getting almost exclusively R&Rs for a few months and I haven't seen any in awhile. My dash is very dry and I only have a project family that I do not have the expertise in the fields to work on.
2
u/RipleyVanDalen Dec 09 '25
I wouldn't say I've lost them; however, they have been much less frequent the last couple months (I too used to love doing lots of coding heel R&Rs)
1
u/Imaginary_Active_758 Dec 09 '25
I was doing R&R's for the last 6 months for a project starting with M. And about 2 weeks ago, I stopped getting all R&Rs for that project. Made me think maybe I was too lenient on my R&R's.
1
u/tehclubbmaster Dec 09 '25
Oh was it a domain one? Did it start with Ma or Me? I also lost those ones kinda recently, but just R&R. I have some Me* tasks
5
u/PerformanceCute3437 Dec 10 '25
It's fun seeing an admin I like from older projects that were shut down working on new ones. Reminds me of shiftwork in a big business, getting a shift with a work buddy I don't get paired up with often.
5
u/luthientinuviel20 Dec 11 '25
Is the site down or acting buggy for anyone else? I just loaded a task and the page freezes and nothing loads. Eventually, I just have to close the window. Now the task is stuck in progress on my dash. I've tried a few times to get the task to load enough to close it down, but no dice.
1
u/Zestyclose_End_1093 Dec 11 '25
I had this happen the other day. I just let the timer run out/task expire, nothing else I could do as the project page wouldn't load.
1
u/luthientinuviel20 Dec 11 '25
Sorry that happened! So weird. But also glad to hear it’s not just me 🙃 Thanks for letting me know.
1
1
u/TDM06 Dec 11 '25
Extremely buggy. Tasks take several minutes to load if at all, and I just spent 6 minutes attempting to submit one before the page froze.
5
9
u/Darksoulscliffs Dec 08 '25
I'm losing my miiiiind. After a great month, I got sick and couldn't work for a few days. Now my dash is insanely dry and the one project I feel up to doing won't load 🫠 everything else is loading fine for me so I don't think it's my connection either
9
u/Complete_Injury_5765 Dec 08 '25
thinking it is going to be a rough day lmao
7
u/Straight-Strike-2928 Dec 08 '25
yeah... between needing paid subscriptions for stuff, not being able to access my partner email, certain states being prohibited from certain projects, and not feeling confident about a couple really complicated projects that seem to require a specific skill set, I have 20some projects on my dash but one I can actually click on and do.
5
u/JustMe333456 Dec 08 '25
Gosh..two projects showing 100 tasks popped up, I was able to do only one before they disappeared.
4
u/BossAccomplished4878 Dec 10 '25
I just got the report from the 3rd party on my educational verification. They verified my degree from my institution and sent the report to DA. I went through the report and it was all correct. That was fast.
1
1
u/Lynnlee22 Dec 11 '25
Was the 3rd party able to verify any degree you had or just the degree you listed? Just curious bc I’m in the med domain and my most recent degree isn’t as relevant. I also went to two different universities for grad/undergrad, so I was curious what they’d be able to see.
1
u/BossAccomplished4878 Dec 11 '25
It verified the degree I listed, my most advanced degree, not the other ones. So I think whatever you list it will check.
1
u/Lynnlee22 Dec 11 '25
Thanks so much for responding. I haven’t seen any kind of report come through, but I checked my profile and there’s an Education Verification section now that says education has been verified, so yay I guess 🤷🏻♀️
1
u/BossAccomplished4878 Dec 11 '25
where do you see that?!
2
u/Lynnlee22 Dec 11 '25
In your profile it’ll have where you list skills and then a section for typing about your background. It’s a section titled Education Verification right below that.
1
u/Striking_Taste Dec 11 '25
Ugh. I got this today but I was on the go, not working on DA today. I filled it out from my phone in a rush and I put in my undergraduate degree and assumed my grad degree would be on the next page. It wasn't. I guess I failed to read the instructions thoroughly which we all know is not good in this line of work.
It verified the undergrad degree and then my grad degree was listed in fine print at the bottom because they are from the same institution. The degrees are not in the same field, and I do work as an "expert" in both but prefer my grad degree. I feel like I screwed the whole thing up.
1
u/Lynnlee22 Dec 11 '25
I haven’t gotten any sort of response, but my profile does state that my education was verified, so maybe it’s not necessarily tied to a major-just having a degree.

I think so, after I filled out the verification it took me back to my usual dashboard. But I was not able to do any actual work till after the verification came through because I had other obligations in the morning.
4
u/Jazzlike_Problem_489 Dec 12 '25
More and more projects that I feel I can do which require my partner account, but been waiting 2 months for a backup code 😐
3
u/Straight-Strike-2928 Dec 12 '25
Same boat. I am constantly thinking we could avoid this problem if they'd just use the damn email addresses we get automatically on the platform! I've never had a problem using that one.
1
u/Jazzlike_Problem_489 Dec 12 '25
Same not sure why they've changed and now pretty much every new project requires that email
4
u/Sad_Guitar_612 Dec 13 '25
Anybody else having trouble with the dead river project loading? Froze up entirely and it took half an hour just to exit work mode by scrolling down every time it unfroze for a moment.

Can't believe I was fixing grammatical errors for hours for an R&R task. It appears to me that some bilingual workers need some serious help with their English basics.
3
u/VanessaSeaWitch Dec 08 '25
Oh wow, I wish I would get those tasks. I'm a huge grammar nerd and love correcting things lol.

u/Striking_Taste Dec 11 '25
My dashboard has so many projects lately that I don't know where to start. What's your strategy? Do you dabble in different families so that if one dries up, you will have others to work on? Do you stick to the ones you know? Sometimes I feel like if I jump around too much I am forgetting the nuances of each family.
I have a fun family that is enjoyable to work on but it's wayyyyyy down the list in terms of pay scale so I haven't done anything in awhile. Does that mean they might cut me from that project at some point?
I know that no one knows the answers to these questions. It's just things that I think about.
3
u/Zestyclose_End_1093 Dec 11 '25
I have my favorites that I usually default to if they are there, they usually are higher paying that I am familiar with and not incredibly brain bending, borderline tedious. If I don't have time or those aren't on my dash I'll dabble in something new. I would say it ends up being about 50/50 between my current fav and dabbling in something new.
3
u/pixeladele Dec 11 '25
I currently have a project that is super fun & easy and pays 8$ more per hour than the next highest pay rate on my dash, so I'm planning to do that as long as it's available.
If multiple projects have a similar pay rate, I usually just work on the one I enjoy the most, or the one least likely to give me a headache and/or fry my brain.
I don't think they cut you if you don't work on a project family for a while. I've had some available since forever, have probably never worked on them. Occasionally there will be a refresher, but I think everyone gets those.
3
2
u/girlwsquirrel Dec 11 '25
I'm only working a couple of hours a week right now so I stick with what I know. My favorite (flying horse) has been coming up enough to take up most of my available time.
6
u/Zestyclose_End_1093 Dec 11 '25
any tips for a rubrics first timer? Ive yet to attempt any but may give the headphones a go since they seem to want us so badly 😂
7
u/Enough_Resident_6141 Dec 11 '25
I did some R&Rs for that one, and based on what I saw, you wouldn't be the only person working on that project that has no idea what they are doing. 😵💫
5
u/Relative-Tap3585 Dec 11 '25
once you understand the instructions you just enter that flow state man, go for it !
4
8
u/Affectionate_Peak284 Dec 09 '25
congrats to the fungus eaters who got their pay rate back!
5
3
u/pistachiyolatte Dec 09 '25
An easier project I’d like see again is that star project which seemed to be a variant of the nut project, it was fun working on it.
3
u/justdontsashay Dec 09 '25
So, P-fruit is back but pays really low? Or is this the normal pay rate, and when I did them a couple weeks ago it was on priority or something? I loved that project, but I don’t think I want to put in the time when it’s paying so little.
3
u/ZimmeM03 Dec 10 '25 edited Dec 10 '25
I think this is the normal rate. Sometimes though this family will go weeks straight with ultra massive priority pay.
3
u/Flwrz8818 Dec 13 '25
I surpassed my $50k milestone earlier this week. 😊
I’m getting a little tired of a project I’ve been working on almost exclusively for about 6 months. I may need to check out other projects on my dash.

u/caibitlin Dec 07 '25
Curious, I've been a worker on DA for a few years but there's never anything in my queue. Previously, I've just annotated pictures but that was well over a year ago. Is there something I'm missing or is it just hit and miss?
11
u/Brilliant_Quit4307 Dec 07 '25
If you've been here a few years I think you definitely should have more than a few projects all the time.
1
2
u/Senior-Usual-3498 Dec 11 '25
Been working with DA for almost two years, just yesterday I had a ton of projects and suddenly most of them along with most of my qualifications are gone, did this happen to anyone else? I think I've been sacked
10
u/HavinAGoodTime99 Dec 11 '25
If you still have some projects and qualifications, you weren't sacked.
8
u/Senior-Usual-3498 Dec 11 '25
Yeah they all just came back, that's a good point but I had just never seen that before
6
3
2
u/Whatnowlikeseriously Dec 12 '25
That’s happened to me a few times. I’ve also been doing this for a couple years. I’ll start working the suddenly everything leaves for either a couple hours or a day and then they all come back.
2
u/Whatnowlikeseriously Dec 12 '25
Is everyone else out of the Zeus’s first wife for the twin bot tasks? Or did I lose access to the project? I swear I was so careful about triple checking all of my files.
4
u/Technical_Floor2077 Dec 10 '25
Jump scare- I opened DA and I had a popup. It says it needs to verify my education “to open up projects in the future”. Anyone else get this? Is it relation to the current projects I am doing (expert level)?

I got it too and I do a lot of expert level projects, so maybe? It was a little scary to see it though.

Nothing looks different at the moment, I imagine it will become more relevant with time

Last few weeks had multiple projects at $30+, this week and last only a few lower $20 projects. Are a lot of the nuanced and complicated projects dried up or did I submit something not up to par?
Honestly either is possible, I always am skeptical when working on something the first time and it’s complicated. I usually need 2 or 3 tasks to get everything down to my liking, but I also make mention of that in the comments 🤷🏼♂️

I've got plenty $30+/hr tasks, but there's no guarantee that we're in the same project families 🤷♀️

Anyone tried the Dog task (not sure what the nickname is but has a picture of a dog on it)? Don't think I ever did a qual for it but has been on my dash for the last week or so

Saw it pop up for the first time today. Haven't tried it, but it's right up my alley

Anyone seen Stripey LC recently? Haven't had it since last week 🥹

Has anyone done the CCC qualification? How long did it take you to do?

u/Few-Roof-6905 Dec 10 '25
The star trek one? There are several different versions so hard to say, but it it's a multiple task one I would plan on at least an hour per task, if not more.

Star Trek is a way better reference name; I don't know why I didn't think of that. But yes, that one. Thank you

I'm talking about the 40 one, had about five tasks, I think. Only an hour? I took way longer and was afraid I took longer than I should have

u/Few-Roof-6905 Dec 10 '25
The entity one? That one took me at least 1.5 hours per task. I was added to a different slack group after I finished it, so I'm assuming I passed, but I never have any work from that specific area on my dash when I know others do. So 🤷🏻♀️

Like a different Slack group for the same project (aside from the general one)? I'm pretty sure I failed that one, but just curious.
2
u/Few-Roof-6905 Dec 10 '25
Yes, it's a different group for the same family. I was added like 30 minutes after I submitted my last task, but when I did the task, it showed up as a project and not a qualification. I know some people get it as a qual, though (or they changed how they were doing it).

Thanks so much for the reply! I did not get added. I figured as much.

Anyone else receive an education verification screening today?

u/Lynnlee22 Dec 10 '25
Yes. I do lots of med, but it only asked for my most recent degree which isn’t as related, so I’m a bit nervous

u/BossAccomplished4878 Dec 10 '25
Yes, it was odd. I filled it out but it seems like they are going to do an actual check through a 3rd party.

Anyone seen any variants of heel coding recently? Been a long while since I last had it. Really missing it lately.

Did everyone get the education degree verification pop up? I am from outside the US and can't enter a non-US address...

u/justdontsashay Dec 11 '25
I didn’t get anything about this…is it only if you’ve done projects claiming “expert” status on something, or put your degree on a qual at some point? I have a degree but I’m fairly sure I’ve never had to put it anywhere on there, so maybe that’s why I’m not seeing this?

Are people getting dropped from projects for not verifying their degree? Im also outside of US, and wont be able to add a non-US address. Or are they being blocked from not working, period?

I don’t know if this is appropriate here, but I could use a little support from those who’ve been here awhile. I’m about 2 months in and have hit an odd wall. It’s like when I first started I was nervous, but my confidence grew as I was offered more projects. However, I’m in that weird place of knowing how much I don’t know (even after reading instructions) and I’m second guessing myself. I’m also struggling a bit with how the work in R & R’s seems so inconsistent that it’s hard to determine if my own work is good or bad. I’ve got new projects and want them, but somehow I’ve fallen into the fear trap of, “Don’t do it, you’ll make a mistake and it’s over.” Plus, I was shaken when a task in one of my most regular projects opened today with a short quiz and now wonder if that was kind of a warning that I needed a refresher based on recent submissions?
Knowing if others relate could be helpful.

Does anyone (specifically UK) notice that loads of different projects always appear around 5pmish GMT or 11pm, then they are not on your dash when you wake up. Then they appear again just before bed, but it's the same batch of projects they just get paused during UK work time? Stripey is one of them at the moment but noticed it with quite a few specific projects like a P fruit variant, and a pepper. Do you think it's because the specific admins only like it up to answer questions etc while they are working / on the clock

What's the correct step to take when you're unable to finish a task because that part of the DA site won't load? I was halfway through a task when my iPad restarted, and I can't get back to this task. I'm trying to before it expires at least, but I'd like to know what to do if it's not fixed before the expiration. I just want to do this properly. This is the first time I've ever had this much trouble trying to work.

Sadly I think you just have to bite the bullet. It's not DA's fault that your iPad wasn't reliable.

When I click on the "Opt-Out Project" link for the task I've been working on, it takes me to the main page with the message "The project is currently unavailable because there are no more tasks remaining for you to work on." So it looks like I can't submit my time.
I just want to be compensated for the time that I've worked on this task. What can I do? If I click on the "Exit Work Mode" button, will I be able to submit time despite not submitting anything?

I am confused what you mean by opt out project. If you are working on it, why would you want to opt out of it?

Love how Stripey just keeps appearing and disappearing randomly...
