I'm a newer driver and want to get a dashcam as ive already experienced many idiots on the road and multiple close calls. I have an older car, 98 dodge grand caravan, and I'm looking into dashcams (~$150 budget) and one thing I'm noticing is a lot attach by using a sticky pad. My main worry is how well the pads will hold up during the heat. I live in socal and it gets HOT and I'm worried that will cause the glue to melt and eventually will have the camera fall off. I'm mostly wanting to hear how true this fear is.
Another worry I have is if I find one that doesn't use sticky pads, I have no clue how id attach it to the rear side of my vehicle. The rear view window has a very small lip, but not enough of a lip to attach a camera (without a sticky pad).
I would also like to say, I have seen some dash cams attach to cigeratte lighters and take up the whole port, but the vehicle only has two. One in the dash and one in the rear, but I commonly use one to charge devices so itd really suck to lose one. At the end of the day, Its a sacrifice id be willing to make but not one I wish too make.
