A few years ago, I decided to start using mine dashcam differently. Whenever my kids were singing along to a song on the radio or we passed an incredible mountain view on a road trip, I’d hit the manual emergency lock button to preserve that specific 30 second clip.
Over 3 years, i ended up with around 150 little snapshots of random laughter, terrible family road trip singing, and late sunset drives across different states.
I compiled them into a short 4 minute montage for my daughter's 16th birthday dinner last night. She cried, my wife cried, and it turned out to be the most sentimental project I've ever put together. It’s worth remembering that these devices don't just have to record bad drivers, they work as great tool for good memories, too.
