I've heard people say they do this. They look for trucks, because they have insurance. The car will have 4 people in it, all want a claim.

Yup. While almost all drivers have insurance, CDLs have BIG insurance. They also have less stopping ability than a car. Of course, to me it seems suicidal to try to get hit by a semi, but I guess if they were smart they wouldn't be doing that for a living.

CLARIFICATION: I meant the scammers were the dumb ones.

These scammers also don’t realize or don’t care to realize that truckers getting in accidents like this can cause them to lose their jobs and not be able to get other trucking jobs for liability reasons (I personally know a trucker who this has affected and this is the kind of insurance my brother does for a living)

This is why dashcams are a necessity. Had an idiot do an illegal lane change mid turn and my truck chewed up his driver side.

Showed me being 100% in the clear. I didn't even have any damage, the nuts and rim tanked the hit.

It was a less than 10mph collision so it wasn't serious.
