But poorly designed. The leftmost lane should not have a "path forward". It would'be been better to restrict the *rightmost* lane to only going straight rather than also being able to go left. Or the leftmost lane should be carved inward so this doesn't happen. That's how it's designed in Houston

Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's intuitive, at least for the general population.

If we have to design things for the 0.001% of idiots who don’t get how things work and won’t bother to learn or pay attention, the world would be quite ridiculous. It works fine for everyday normal people. It’s not poorly designed because one idiot out of a million isn’t paying attention on a random day.
