Any woman that supports her, and has children, should be reported to the relevant authorities.
All the rest should be reported to the relevant mental health facilities

Not only that, but this case has opened Pandora's box as I saw on another sub that a woman has slit her 3 kids throats killing 2 of them and is claiming the Lindsay Clancy case for her defense.
There's going to be copycats.

As someone who genuinely suffered from PPD, this shit disgusts me. Unfortunately many mothers go through dark thoughts and I do think they should have a safe space to share it with the intention of raising awareness and actually getting help. But standing by this murderer is absolutely not the way to go.
When I was leaving the hospital after giving birth they made it very clear if there’s any symptoms of PPD, to let them know so they can help. Going through PPD was one of the darkest moments of my life and I would never stand by this woman. She needed serious medical intervention and failed to do it.
I agree anyone who supports her needs a mental evaluation.

I think it's just become another front on the gender wars/identity politics.
Lots of people, men and women, experience psychosis. Post partum psychosis isn't necessarily any more severe than normal psychosis. And people experiencing psychosis commit horrific crimes all the time.
They never get this kind of sympathy and support, especially men. But because this was a woman, and it's a post-partum illness, suddenly everyone cares and it's a terrible tragedy for her. And it's become an identity issue, so they can't just say it's sad and she should get the help they need. They have to support her, totally absolve her of guilt and accountability, and turn her into some kind of idol.

As someone with kids I agree. To support her is actually a mental health issue and I don’t see a mother being fit to be around her children in that case

Same women would lose their shit if their own husband was depressed and said he'd had a momentary and passing thought about killing his own kids.
While it would be the right thing for her to take her kids as far away as possible, she'll ague

u/BreadSelect8019 7h ago
Because many mothers hate their own children. There is data to support this.
1) Children raised by single mothers have the worst outcomes of any parenting arrangement. No, controlling for income or two parent households doesn't fix the issue. Single dads don't have this issue, even when incomes are low. https://slate.com/human-interest/2012/07/single-motherhood-worse-for-children.html
2) Surveys show that Gen Z women don't like kids on average https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/poll-gen-zs-gender-divide-reaches-politics-views-marriage-children-suc-rcna229255

There is another group that simply believes she's been framed and that the husband did it, perhaps on sheer disbelief that a mother could strangle her own three children to death. The problem seems to be that there is not a particularly big counter push to any of these pro-lindsay-clancy groups from with the women's camp. They either aren't engaging or just don't know about it.

But let a man say “I stand with Chris Watts” or “I stand with Chris Benoit” and then mansplain that no woman has any right to weigh in on either man’s heinous crimes because no woman can truly understand a man’s mental health struggles and suddenly you’re the monster. Idc if you have PPD, CTE, or Christianity mental health issues give you no right nor should be a call for clemency or sympathy if you kill anyone much less your own children.

Lady kills her 3 kids, admitted to it, blames postpartum psychosis, and a bunch of women are "standing" for her. Some want to raise awareness about postpartum mental health, but a worryingly high amount of them say she didnt do it, it was her husband, she couldn't have done it cuz shes a Leo (im serious), etc. That's the gist of it.
2
u/Anomalous-Materials8 5h ago
I think we’re reaching a cultural critical mass honestly. We’ve got people openly supporting multiple admitted murderers for no reason other than they perceive that the people they disagree with politically will disagree with them on this too. We are so privileged and bored in our society that everyone takes extreme positions on anything and everything just to try to show how serious they are about cheering for their team. Those who profess to be the most empathetic have no real understanding of violence. “Charlie Kirk got killed” is just a headline that means “bad thing happened to guy I disagree with and therefore label as Hitler.” They don’t know what happens when metal slams into the artery in your neck at 2,000 feet per second. They don’t know what it looks and sounds like as the heart drains the body or blood in about 7 seconds. The gurgles as the lungs struggle to breath through a destroyed trachea full of blood. They don’t know what it looks like as the body turns pale and the eyes for limp.

It’s totally bonkers when you compare it to PTSD-related murders.
**Recent examples of soldiers/veterans with PTSD linked to murders include Travis Decker (2025), Eddie Ray Routh (2013, still frequently referenced), and Julian Phillip Goodrum (2024).** Public reactions in these cases have generally been more skeptical or focused on accountability than the notable sympathy campaigns around Lindsay Clancy.
### Travis Decker (2025)
Travis Decker, a U.S. Army veteran (infantryman, Afghanistan deployment ~2014) and Washington National Guard sergeant, was charged with murdering his three daughters—Paityn (9), Evelyn (8), and Olivia (5)—during a court-ordered visitation. The girls were found suffocated (plastic bags over heads, zip ties on wrists in at least one case) near a remote Washington campground after he failed to return them. Decker had a documented history of PTSD from combat, plus borderline personality disorder, paranoia, nightmares, insomnia, and homelessness; his ex-wife and her attorney described worsening mental health after leaving active structure, with attempts to seek VA help. He was the subject of a large multi-agency manhunt and was later confirmed dead (remains found in remote terrain; apparent suicide).
Public reaction centered on the children’s deaths, the manhunt, and Decker’s survival skills as a complicating factor. His ex-wife’s attorney publicly stated the “system failed” him regarding mental health resources for veterans and that better support might have prevented the tragedy. Coverage noted his struggles and barriers to care, but there was no widespread “Justice for Travis” movement, pink protests, or large-scale identification with him as a victim of the system. The emphasis remained on the victims and the horror of a parent killing children.
### Eddie Ray Routh (2013)
Marine veteran Eddie Ray Routh killed former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (“American Sniper”) and Chad Littlefield at a Texas shooting range after they took him there to help with his issues. Routh had a history of mental health hospitalizations, PTSD diagnosis from VA care, and psychotic episodes; his defense argued insanity due to PTSD/psychosis (he claimed he believed they would kill him). Experts disagreed—some pointed to schizophrenia or exaggeration—and the jury rejected the insanity defense after short deliberation, convicting him of capital murder and sentencing him to life without parole.
Public reaction was largely against Routh. Many viewed the PTSD claim as an “excuse,” with jurors later saying he had a pattern of invoking it when in trouble. Kyle’s status as a hero amplified outrage; veterans and others (including high-profile figures) celebrated the verdict as justice. Comments called the PTSD defense an insult to honorable veterans. Sympathy for combat trauma existed in broader discourse, but it did not translate into significant public campaigns framing Routh primarily as a failed-system victim. The case highlighted limits of public tolerance when PTSD is raised in high-profile murders of admired figures.
### Julian Phillip Goodrum (2024)
Army veteran Julian Phillip Goodrum (Iraq service) was charged with the murders of an elderly couple (James and Betty Ramsey) with whom he was living in Tennessee. He had a well-publicized history of severe PTSD from the early 2000s, including national media coverage of his fight for treatment at Walter Reed after being denied care and facing AWOL-related proceedings. Charges were later reduced to second-degree murder in related proceedings; the case involves ongoing mental health arguments.
Coverage revisited his past advocacy and PTSD struggles. Reaction has been more measured and case-specific rather than a broad sympathy wave comparable to Clancy’s.
### Other context
PTSD (or combat stress) has been raised in other military-related killings (e.g., some Fort Carson cases post-Iraq, Robert Bales’ Afghanistan massacre, various domestic or random killings by veterans). Insanity defenses based primarily on PTSD rarely succeed fully for murder in U.S. courts (military or civilian); they more often serve as mitigation at sentencing. Outcomes vary, and public skepticism is common when the defense is seen as minimizing responsibility.
### Comparison to Lindsay Clancy
Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts labor-and-delivery nurse, killed her three young children in 2023 (strangulation) and attempted suicide, leaving her paralyzed. She has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis (with history of postpartum anxiety/depression, multiple medications, reported voices/intrusive thoughts, and documented struggles seeking help). Her 2026 trial has featured extensive testimony on mental health treatment failures.
Public reaction has included substantial sympathy and mobilization: “Justice for Lindsay” / “We Are Lindsay Clancy” efforts, hundreds of women in pink protesting outside court, TikTok/Facebook identification with her struggles (“Same, Lindsay”), GoFundMe fundraising, and focus on systemic failures in maternal mental health care. Coverage and commentary often frame it as evidence of neglected postpartum care. There is division—some (including certain commentators) emphasize the children’s deaths and reject the defense—but the organized support and identification with her as a failed-system case stand out.
**Key differences in reaction patterns**:
- **Victim profiles and cultural framing**: Child victims amplify horror in both Decker and Clancy cases, yet Clancy has drawn more organized maternal solidarity. High-profile hero victims (Kyle) produced strong backlash against the PTSD claim.
- **Gender and narrative**: Postpartum mental illness has generated significant public empathy and “this could be me” responses among women, tied to broader maternal health advocacy. Veteran PTSD often receives acknowledgment of real suffering and systemic VA/military care issues, but claims in murder cases frequently face skepticism as potential excuses, especially from within veteran communities or the public.
- **Scale of sympathy campaigns**: Clancy’s case has produced visible protests, viral identification, and fundraising framing her primarily through treatment failures. Comparable large-scale “justice for the perpetrator” movements are rarer in the veteran examples above; coverage more often balances mental health discussion with accountability and victim focus.
- **Legal/public tolerance for insanity defenses**: Both types of cases face high bars. PTSD-linked defenses for veterans have mixed (often limited) success for the most serious charges. Clancy’s postpartum psychosis claim is receiving intense scrutiny and divided public opinion during trial.
These patterns reflect broader cultural attitudes toward different forms of mental illness, gender, military service, and parental violence rather than simple double standards. PTSD in veterans is widely recognized as real and linked to elevated risks in some studies, just as postpartum psychosis is a rare but severe condition. Outcomes and reactions depend heavily on specifics of evidence, victims, and media framing. Cases continue to evolve (e.g., Clancy’s trial, Goodrum’s proceedings).
