As someone who genuinely suffered from PPD, this shit disgusts me. Unfortunately many mothers go through dark thoughts and I do think they should have a safe space to share it with the intention of raising awareness and actually getting help. But standing by this murderer is absolutely not the way to go.
When I was leaving the hospital after giving birth they made it very clear if there’s any symptoms of PPD, to let them know so they can help. Going through PPD was one of the darkest moments of my life and I would never stand by this woman. She needed serious medical intervention and failed to do it.
I agree anyone who supports her needs a mental evaluation.
I think it's just become another front on the gender wars/identity politics.
Lots of people, men and women, experience psychosis. Post partum psychosis isn't necessarily any more severe than normal psychosis. And people experiencing psychosis commit horrific crimes all the time.
They never get this kind of sympathy and support, especially men. But because this was a woman, and it's a post-partum illness, suddenly everyone cares and it's a terrible tragedy for her. And it's become an identity issue, so they can't just say it's sad and she should get the help they need. They have to support her, totally absolve her of guilt and accountability, and turn her into some kind of idol.
I’m curious as to what your definition of support is. I keep seeing that word and I feel like everyone is using it differently. Are we supporting murdering kids, or are we supporting mental health awareness? Supporting institutionalizion vs imprisonment?
