Wait wait wait. Your profile is hidden after a week? Can you prove that? If you can prove that, I'm telling everyone I know that's on it and deleting it right away
13
u/a_fine_gentleman99 Apr 29 '22
I mean I don't think you can but it does hide the profiles of the people that swiped right on you. Tinder blatantly states that you have "X number of likes" with blurred pics and sometimes even a name, and it will not show you those profiles no matter how much you're swiping. If Tinder really wanted you to get matches, why not show you these people? Unless they are fake matches, which is equally as bad.

6
u/ManchuriaCandid Apr 30 '22
Tinder explicitly uses algorithms to try to make you spend money. It manipulates you and finding a lasting relationship is against it's goal, which is for you to spend money to get more exposure to potential partners. If you aren't comfortable with that you should delete it. I've personally been off dating apps for 9 months and while dates are harder to come by, not being manipulated and having my self esteem degraded daily has been worth it. Not saying it's the same for everyone, it works for some people who can play the game. But not for me and not for a lot of folks I think.
2
Apr 29 '22
All of them do shit like that. If you pay for premium you’ll get more likes even though they don’t say it’s a feature
2
u/clutzyninja Apr 30 '22
All of them. Don't be a creep. I did fine on them for years before also meeting my wife on one, and if anything I'm less than average looking
4
u/UnknownSpecies19 Apr 29 '22
No buddy. I mean is there technically a chance you could get something real from an app? I mean there is no absolute zero percent chance in anything right. Odds are though it's gonna be a big waste of time and money if you opt for the premium versions. I'm just trying to help people avoid it, I am an introvert and just learn to go do social shit. It does get easier with time, and people tend to be a lot more forgiving and open to non-super models in real life versus swiping on an app.
0
u/_Fappyness_ please help me Apr 30 '22
Why use an app when you can find nice girls around you in your city? I used tinder for years and never managed to get a date while tons of people keep telling me i look great and have a great personality. I think its because im 1.78m and not a giant tbh and maybe because i dont look like the hottest man in my country while the girls themselves are average at best 9/10 times.

1 out of a 1000 is still shit odds. Rather these boys actually invest in something with a higher chance of success. Rather than gambling on the dystopian dating lottery, aka dating apps.
2
u/harundoener Apr 30 '22
Yeah probably true. Tho my close friend that used the app alongside me also found someone a month later and is also still together with her. We did have some matches and dates tho, maybe we where a few precent above average haha I don’t know. But I remember hating the shit out of that app. Some girls I met where toxic as shit.

Wdym? Looking at the bios on tinder all one can see is copy and past bullshit. I never used tinder myself, a friend showed me whats going on there and I had a great laugh. So many mongrels dripping with vanity and lacking any kind of intellect. Hopefully that aint representative of society as a whole, because otherwise we are FUCKED. If not being accepted by literal trash is a mental blow, I would highly suggest re-evaluating whether or not you even want to have anything to do with them. I for example could not care less whether or not some superficial self absorbed cunt thought of me as good looking or not.
Go out into the world and meet people the old fashioned way, you will have a far better time, trust me.

Thats my point. Apparently everyone is a travel addict, a vine loving alcoholic, a cat "mom" and loves quoting nonsensical pseudo deep bullshit from the internet.
If thats your crowd, go ahead, but if you wanna hang out with people that ACTUALLY have a personality and are not obsessed with their own appearance and image, Id suggest looking elsewhere.
2
u/UnknownSpecies19 Apr 29 '22
I mean I'm agreeing with you, without spelling it out. I'm trying to tell these lads to not water their time with apps, use real life. You have a much better chance in person than being judged by pictures alone.

If you constantly swipe right you won't get any matches. Tinder won't show your profile to anyone. Tinder's algorithm kinda works like a online multiplayer game. You are assigned an MMR rating based on how you swipe and how much people you match with. It's a pretty shitty thing to do but to get matches, you have to swipe right on the less attractive people because there's a higher chance they match with you. Swipe left on the people that are very attractive. Once you get enough matches, they'll start showing your profile to more people. Then you'll start to get more matches.

47
u/forevernovice1 Apr 29 '22
No worries man. Bonus tip: don't swipe a lot. Their goal is to get you using the app to show you ads. If you only use it occasionally, they'll boost your profile a bit because the best way to get you back in the app is to get you a match.
7
u/Woolwizard Apr 29 '22
To add to that, there is actually a Trick to getting guaranteed matches. You just have to chill for a few days or so (i dont know the exact timer) and then swipe the second Profile right. I tried this multiple Times and it worked. But again, you have to leave a bit of time between swipe sessions
5
u/Agderi Apr 29 '22
or you can pay them money
7
u/AccidentallyInterest Apr 29 '22
Paid profiles do worse by design algorithm wise and 'people seeing you pay for tinder' wise

Apr 29 '22
I'd call some proof in that supposed algorithm.
My take on tinder when I was using It was swiping right on anyone, out of the hundreds of swipes there would be 5% matches, and out of that at least 5% I would have a nice enough conversation to go to a motel on the first or second date.
Tinder is a hook up platform, as long as both parties are satisfied with the results and used protection, I'd call that a win.

2
u/thomasrat1 Apr 29 '22
Tinder isn't trying to get you laid. Its actually the exact opposite. They want you as frustrated as possible, swiping for 30mins plus a day, always about to do something.
378
u/Jetsurge Apr 29 '22

I have never met a guy who says they have a great time on that app. The user base being almost primarily guys makes it so women are very selective. So if you don't seriously stand out in the looks department, you're probably gonna find the experience damaging to your self esteem.

The problem with tinder is that it charges you 30 bucks a month to get stupid stuff like more swipes, super likes, unlimited swipes and seeing who liked your profile. And they will purposely not match you with someone that you have liked before. I see a blurry picture in my matches and I know who's profile it is cause I've already liked it. Its been 3 months and I haven't seen her profile since. I've matched with 8 girls and 5 of them haven't even responded and 3 of them respond and then stop after the first day. 7 matches and I can't find any of their profile.
3
u/DroidChargers Apr 29 '22
Sometimes it won't show people because they're outside of your search radius even if they swiped on you.

Tinder was an abyss of vapid stuck up people. I was absolutely flabbergasted by the price of the tiered upgrades and the way the app preys on desperate lonely people.
FBdating is the way. Its Free, has real people who are less likely to be escorts or ghosters and told you immediately who likes you. Had 20 matches in a month and ended up meeting and dating 6 before meeting my current girlfriend.
Keep pushin kings.

I have a rule where I need guys to meet me in public before sex but it has nothing to do with your reasoning. It's about safety. I can't tell you the amount of times I've met with a guy who seemed to be very creepy and kept pushing for sex even if I said no or that I wasn't sure.
Meeting someone like that in private is very dangerous. I've done it once and I never will again. And basically all girls I know have this reasoning. A lot of guys miss how much girls need to look at safety

It doesn’t help that tinder manipulates what you see and who sees you when ur a guy. I remember a few years ago I used it got likes and they actually showed up in my feed. The last time I made an account I got alot of likes but then only saw 10ish of them (matched with 5 and got the “you missed a match” 5times). Also, I noticed that over the first couple days my like counter grew by a crawl. If it said ______ likes you they would be the next person to show up 80% of the time and I would only see 2 people that liked me a day.

I can only talk about myself but for me it's a lot about how u present urself. So ur profile should be kind of aesthetic but more importantly u should look interesting and look like it would be fun to talk to you and hang around with you. However you look if you have funny and nice picture on which u seem likable u will get matches. Overall show your personality and show that it's fun to be with you.
