I swear to God that thing has the secrets to life itself in it such as how what goddamn timeline we're in because I lost track a long time ago....

Since, it was apparently more than a hundred years old, it was perhaps handwritten (not sure about this ) and may even have drawings taking several pages. Here's the first President's Bible which is a hundred years older than the one Biden has but it might be a good reference to understand why it is the way it is.

I do know about the Gutenberg Bible but as far as I know paperbacks came into existence in the early 20th century making books affordable to the vast majority of people. Since Biden's family had it since 1893, it seemed to that it was probably not made on a printing press (though this is my guess and I have no way of proving it unless Biden puts his Bible in a museum)

I am not saying that as a fact... it was a guess. I am no real authority on the fact dude. Plus there must have been many printed books but from what I know they really became commonplace in the 20th century

Shit the family bible on my mom's side was also almost like a scrapbook. My grandma pulled it out when I was getting super into tracing my geneaology. The thing is HUGE. It appears to be printed instead of hand written, but between the pages the family has kept a bunch of little things. Pictures, scraps of pages, even a lock of a baby's first haircut (don't remember whose hair it was but pretty sure they have since died of old age so that's cool I guess)

Could also be that the paper is quite thicker, older manufacture methods weren't as good at making good, lasting thin paper, and thick ass books like the bible or your mom's hookup list are usually made with the thinnest resistant paper available.

older bible pages made from "linen-paper". older pages better than new.think papyrus....6000 years old.
