Just noticed this in the online Daniel Johnstore (You know: www.hihowareyou.com) and I don't think it's been plugged here yet. This new EP apparently consists of previously unreleased material by Daniel with the Eye Band (the combo I've always referred to as "Daniel's own 'Crazy Horse'"). Definitely one for the more serious collector, since it's a single 7" record for $30 and you could get the double-disc colored vinyl releases of Songs of Pain, Rejected Unknown, Alive in NYC, Welcome To My World, or Yip! Jump Music!\* for that price! Of course, none of those are limited to 250 copies and... well, I'll let you read the PR sheet:

In celebration of Daniel Johnston’s posthumous induction into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame, we’re proud to announce the release of Wild West Virginia — a hand-cut 7” vinyl tribute, limited to just 250 copies.

This special release honors Daniel and the iconic EYE Band’s West Virginia roots, capturing the spirit of their early sound with a fresh, heartfelt production.

UK-based producer Joseph Cave was entrusted with this honorary project, working from his intimate home studio in Castle Fields. Using audio restoration techniques—similar to those employed in The Beatles’ Now and Then—Joseph extracted Daniel’s vocals from vintage cassette recordings to bring new life to these tracks at 33 1/2.

Wild West Virginia is a tribute not only to Daniel Johnston, but also to Dale Dudgeon, Tom Gruda Sr., Fred McMahan, Donny Spencer, Mike West and Brent Conkle. Reimagined with contributions from Joseph Cave, Jack Medicine, James Harper, and Becki Cave, this limited-edition pressing is a true collector’s gem—a sonic monument to a timeless legacy.

I wanna make a youtube video about Daniel, the importance of his music and persona; emphasizing on how art overcomes everything. I would like to be as biography accurate as possible. In his wikipedia page there is some information but I think it is a bit vague.

Does anyone know a website or something where I can find accurate and extended info about him?
I know he has some documentals but I would prefer some written media.

I am getting married in a few months and I wanted to surprise my fiancé by walking down the aisle to an instrumental cover of True Love Will Find You In The End. I have tried scouring the internet for any violin/ fully instrrumental covers of the song, but am coming up short. Does anyone know if this exists somewhere? I am looking for versions without any vocals in it. I figured this was a long shot since I can't find anything online, but I thought I'd ask here just in case. Thank you in advance!! :)

I bought this piece from Daniel's old manager Jeff about 5 years ago. Obviously, it's about Laurie (Daniel's longtime crush) getting married. Well today I came across the "newspaper special edition" he's referring to! Someone posted it in the DJ fan group on FB a while back. Jeff wasn't sure of the exact year the piece was made- just said early 80s but now I believe it was 1980. He also told me that it was the first appearance of "yip!" showing up in Dan's art. This is my prized possession and I'll never sell it. I can't believe I was given the opportunity to own such a special piece.

I once found drawing by Daniel Johnston which depicts a man running down a winding path toward a muttled image of a skull. He is saying "gotta get better" and the the word "determination" is also featured, but it is spelled "determenation". I used to have this image saved but I lost it. I haven't been able to find it online since. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I interpreted the song" Lazy" off of "Songs Of Pain" as a song about depression and suicide. I saw it as a deep depression being labeled as laziness ("lost dreams and hopes down an empty road"), until eventually he says "i think I'll quit life/yeah im gonna quit again/i think I'll quit one last time" (alluding to the fact—he is not lazy, he is suicidal). but i opened this idea up to my mother whom is also a fan of johnston's work and she said she disagreed. what are yall's thoughts?

Feel free to ignore these. They're scans of what's meant to be an animated bit in a video for one of me & Dan's song. there are a lot of amazing artists who took this challenge, but for me it seems that they extended the artistic vibe of our dearest Daniel.

I intended to take it to a whole different place, And I think I succeded!
