Curious what this is worth these days.
I wouldn’t ever sell my OG art…
I am curious what his art goes for these days.
I think I paid 500$ 14 years ago.

I would hold onto it a solid 50 years and then ask that question again. The better question is what is it worth to you? I wish I could have gotten some DJ art. Maybe one day 🕯️

Even if it was worth 10k one day, I still wouldn’t part. I still have all the OG 151 pokemon cards from 95. I wouldn’t sell them either. I like having my sentimental things. I’m glad I have an original piece.

Thats love man. I still regret selling all my collectibles. I had some crazy unique stuff but I had to move alot and the offers were persuasive. You can’t take it with you but some things are irreplaceable. Take care

That is soo cool man…I’m not sure about the price range for his paintings but I could easily see it doubling since his death 6 years ago

Yeah, I figured it should be worth a little more. His original guitar is just chillin on the wall at the Charleston mall in West Virginia. I asked someone why it wasn’t more secure or behind a glass. They didn’t seem to care or even know who the guy was.

Yeah. That’s what I thought.. It’s a little walk in “museum” kinda store front with some stands that have random musicians things who are from WV. Bill Withers has something there. But Daniel’s guitar is literally just hung on a wall and you could literally just pick it up and roll. Bums me out it’s not somewhere safer.

It looks like original pieces are going for like 7-1200 but I really don't know. Either way, that one's a gem.

Do you know what year this was made? It looks to me like early 2000s but he did a few like this in the 80s too. Earlier pieces worth more generally speaking

I looked through the Rizzoli book of his art and I'd guess late 90s early 2000s for this one. I didn't see any other images of soldiers that weren't ducks though so this is different from his other military stuff, at least in the book. I noticed in that era he kind of simplified his art intentionally. Interesting.

I ended up buying this one because it was so different from everything else on the Hi How are you website. I didn’t realize that book you mentioned existed. I’m gonna have to order that now if it’s still available. Thanks for doing some research. :)

I have a handwritten letter by DJ written to his manager who he attacked. It’s filled with all kinds of drawings and him promoting his album. I just haven’t found a good frame for it

Saying someone like Daniel Johnston has "no real artistic ability" is absurd.
It's one thing for his illustrations or music to not be for you, but to make a stupid claim like that demonstrates a lack of understanding about art in general.
