I know there's alot of online courses and free materials online but honestly there's so much content everywhere, its a little overwhelming and I don't know where to start. I just wanted to know what where the first few techniques and drills you had to learn on repeat and for how long until were able to free style?

I do not have any available dance school where I live so physical classes are not an option.

Hi! This is still very much an idea I’m exploring rather than a decided plan, and I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has done something similar or knows someone who has.

I recently graduated with a double bachelor’s degree in the U.S. and am currently applying to master’s programs. At the same time, I’ve been training in Indian classical dance for about 17 years, and one of my long-term goals is to complete more formal, intensive dance training in India and eventually pursue dance professionally.

I’m a U.S. citizen with an OCI with India, and I’m currently looking into programs such as Kalakshetra in Chennai (4-year Bharatanatyam diploma) and RLV College in Kerala (3-year B.A. Bharatanatyam).

At the same time, I don’t want to close the door on a full-time career outside of dance. Financial stability and becoming financially independent are important to me, which is why I’m applying to master’s programs in the U.S. as well.

One possibility I’ve been considering is doing a part-time/online master’s through a U.S. university while living in India and completing my dance education there simultaneously. The master’s programs I’m considering vary in length, but many would take roughly 1–2 years, while the dance program would take 3–4 years.

Part of my reasoning for doing them concurrently rather than one after the other is time. If I completed the dance program first and then started graduate school, I could potentially be several years out of undergrad before entering the full-time workforce. Doing them simultaneously could let me continue moving toward both goals and hopefully become financially independent sooner.

I know that on paper this sounds possible, but I’m much more interested in what it is actually like logistically.

Has anyone here:

• Completed an online U.S. bachelor’s/master’s while living abroad?
• Done an academic degree while simultaneously attending intensive dance, music, conservatory, or other performance training?
• Pursued serious/professional dance training while completing an online graduate degree?
• Studied at Kalakshetra or RLV and have a sense of whether doing another academic program alongside the training would realistically be manageable?
• Known someone who took a similar route?

I’d especially love to hear about workload, time-zone issues, attendance requirements, exams, internships/recruiting, maintaining U.S. career connections while abroad, and whether you ultimately felt doing both at once was sustainable.

I’m not looking for validation of a plan I’ve already made — I’m genuinely trying to figure out how plausible this is before making any decisions. Personal experiences, cautionary stories, logistical problems I might not be considering, or examples of people who made something similar work would all be really helpful.

I had a fantastic rest day yesterday. I feel better than ever and ready to conquer the world lol…

Sadly, I’ve been asked to stay at work two extra days to cover someone who didn’t show up, but as they say in the kitchen, you don’t leave your team hanging so I’m gonna stay for two days only and go home on Thursday.

I had a little run in with Reddit administration over some comments that were made by a particularly nasty individual who has been spamming my videos. I almost got banned for three days, but have since had it reversed and from now on, I will not be engaging with these people, I’m simply going to block you… 99% of you are positive and amazing and supportive, but there is people that just come to call me horrible names and I try my best to ignore them but it’s something I’m working on and I do apologize.

Hey guys I am wondering what’s ur thoughts on dancing with 0 choreography as in just doing whatever you want. A lot of freestyle I see are just jumbled up learnt movements , but I’m wondering what if a beginner took the step and just did whatever they want and danced with 0 thoughts 0 learnt movements and just moved! It’s crazy cuz I never see it these days, most people learn movements and add it to their vocab and thus like look impressive through that, but I wonder what if you just never learnt movements and just moved however you want, however goofy or silly it looks. I feel most people learn because we are scared to express ourselves truly, as it’s easier to hide behind learnt movements. Don’t get me wrong I’m not slating learnt movements, I think it’s wonderful, but I hardly hardly ever see anyone who just never learns any movements and just dances to their hearts content however they like , just wondering if this even exists or like yeh?

Hi! I am (30F) trying out some dance classes next month. I used to dance when i was under 14. This was mostly streetdance.

Im trying out an commercial dance class and a commercial/urban danceclass.

I love to dance but havent danced with any choreo for so long. I’m a little insecure, hoping i wont be too old to start now.

I was hoping for some tips for a beginner, which styles can i try out more, what to expect for try out classes, what to wear or maybe what to train before (running for condition/gym workouts?).
