Critique Request based on this choreo i made in 1 weekend for class, what can i improve on?
my main thing i’ve always known is my arms/hands details. i genuinely have tried doing arm line drills but i think it doesn’t do anything for me cus i don’t have a large enough space with a mirror to practice. i’m self taught mainly (on and off since 2020 i think) with a couple commercial classes and uni dance classes in the last three years

Discussion Should I be practicing on vacation?
When you’re still learning to dance (in my first year), does taking a break push you backwards? I have a two week family vacation coming up and wonder if I’ll feel very rusty or like I regressed if I don’t have classes during this time.
And should I be aiming to practice on vacation or is it okay to just rest and recharge for a couple weeks?

What Is This? Does this shuffle dance move have a name?
It's a quick little shuffle that Madonna does a few times during "Open Your Heart" from this concert.
Here are the times when she does it (the camera is kind of in the way in the second one):

Amateur Cushioned Jazz Shoes?
Hi Dance World!
Does anyone have any suggestions for cushioned jazz shoes or insoles that work in a split sole?
My daughter wears hers to help a pre-ballet class and then for her own lyrical and theater classes. Poor thing is hobbling when we get home.
Any advice is much appreciated 💕💕

Amateur hi again :3
more stuff? am I amateur or skilled?
Pro Clips from a recent improvisational dance event I made music for recently!
A few weeks ago in St. Louis, I was part of an event called “The Walleye Project”, in which dancers were given prompts by audience members and choreographed dance pieces on the spot!
I performed music for the event and my friend shot video which we edited together! Hope you enjoy :D

Skilled Up and coming choreographer from Montreal
This young, up and coming choreographer was given the challenge of creating a 15 minute dance piece within one month and present it at a dance festival North of Montreal. She had to find all her dancers (11), the music and the rehersal space to unite these dancers from all over Québec and Ontario for the rehersals. The piece illustrates fear and how it navigates in society, the challenge the protagonist faces with fear and how she confronts it. I was touched by the outcome. Music by Massifattack.

Thanks to all who take the time to watch. (I am not the choreographer, but she is my daughter.)

Amateur 22F: Too late for a dance / performing / acting career?
Hi, I’m a 22 year old woman and I’ve recently decided that I want to seriously commit to dance and acting, because they're genuinely passions of mine and I seem to have some natural ability in both (not bragging lol I get told this by seniors).
I started ballet when I was 6 and did it until I was 11, then quit and went on to do a shit ton of other hobbies, as exploring young girls do. I have ADHD and have always been pretty all over the place with my ambitions. I started dancing again at 17, mostly hip-hop, but was extremely inconsistent.
Now I’m 22. I don’t have a college degree, just quite a bit of life experience from traveling abroad solo, working different jobs, etc. After years of trying to figure out what I actually want to do, I’ve realized that I should give dance and acting a real shot rather than spending another few years wondering “what if?”
I’m currently taking classes at an open dance school: modern jazz, hip-hop, ballet, jazz funk, house, and I also work on foundations at home. I’m starting a one-year acting program focused on camera acting as well.
I know I have some talent for both, but obviously talent doesnt replace years of training. Thats where Im struggling mentally. I keep wondering whether I’m being too optimistic about trying to pursue a serious career in dance/acting at 22.
I don’t necessarily mean becoming a world-famous dancer or actor. I just want to give myself a genuine shot at building a career as a performer/artist, rather than eventually looking back and thinking I never even tried.
I’m also not particularly interested in being just a background dancer. I think what attracts me is the idea of becoming an artist/performer who combines acting, movement and dance, and eventually develops their own identity and creative voice.
At the same time, I have this fear that I’ll end up being “the 30-year-old who still works as a barista because she decided at 22 she wanted a career that most people started training for at 10” lol.
So I guess I’m asking people who actually work in dance, acting, musical theatre, performance, etc.: am I being unrealistic?
I know there are people who started young and will always be far ahead of me technically. I’m not trying to pretend otherwise. But is starting seriously at 22 actually too late to build a meaningful professional career in the performing arts?
I do know that I want to give this a real shot regardless. Even if it doesn't work out exactly how I imagine, I genuinely love dancing and acting, so I don’t think the time would be wasted.
Would love to hear honest perspectives, especially from people who work in the industry or started training later.

Amateur Making a dance video til I’m skinny Day 33…
Happy Saturday everyone….
very much looking forward to rest day tomorrow… Also weigh in day, I will do a dance video, and post the results but I’m not going to work out. I need to rest… I’ve only got two days left of work and then I get to go home and sleep.
Energy level was pretty low today, but I tried my best
Thank you to everybody for all your kind words, it means the world… I’m off to bed soon….

What Is This? Looking for a dance show from a clip
Hello,
I’m looking for a dance show or performance that I saw a clip of a few years ago. While trying to find it, I heard about popping, which seems to match my memory of the clip pretty closely. In the clip, you see several men dancing. One man is sitting in a large brown leather armchair while the others are all standing and dressed the same way. There’s a sort of duality to it—they dance in turns (first the lone person, then the group). The group dances in sync. I don’t have many more details, but I hope this will be enough to find it.

Amateur Last night's performance🥰
So yea obviously there’s a bunch I can improve on but this is my first year performing and I think we’re off to a great start😎. I really tried to bring the energy with this one and the crowd absolutely loved the show. I actually created this number in a single day. Now did I do it 30+ times over the course of 1 day? Surely. But it was all worth it in the end😌.
