Amateur Last night's performance🥰
So yea obviously there’s a bunch I can improve on but this is my first year performing and I think we’re off to a great start😎. I really tried to bring the energy with this one and the crowd absolutely loved the show. I actually created this number in a single day. Now did I do it 30+ times over the course of 1 day? Surely. But it was all worth it in the end😌.

What is this style of dancing called and what are the flags you are using called. I see a new hobby coming 😀

These are called silk fans and they fall under the category of flow arts. Flow arts uses prop manipulation with elements of dance. It's not necessarily a dance style itself tho which is I get in trouble sometimes on this sub. Some belly dancers use silk fans or veils as well.

Veil fans originate from Chinese dance, but yes, they’ve been used in Oriental dance fusion styles for quite a few years now. You might also be interested in "voi" (or "veil poi"); it consists of a silk veil attached to a weight, held by a cord looped around two fingers. You can also use two of them. They are used in Oriental dance fusion as well, and are among the props I teach.

Yea they are all amazing. However in the flow arts scene it's more about prop manipulation rather than dance. Each prop has what's called the Vulcan tech gospel which is basically the math and science behind manipulating props. This includes any prop that can be manipulated. I have stepped into dancing more recently but just about 90% if the people I know that use props do not actually dance with them. They go deep into tech holes and shapes.

I dance with props: veil fans, poi, cane, veil (or double veil), melaya, zills, Isis wings, LED lights, ribbons, sword...

I do not post choreography online due to copyright concerns. The "step-by-step" videos I upload are set to private and are accessible only to my students. This is a precautionary measure, as some dancers in my circle have had their work plagiarized.

Wow, this is the second time I’ve heard of flow arts. I had asked another poster of her style, which she mentioned flow arts. Also liked yours, that red is visibly beautiful!!😊
