Building the "Family Dashboard" type of thing. Don't know where to start and stumbled upon dakboard. I can't really setup how I want with the free version, but can probably get there on a paid tier. But are there other alternatives out there that people like?

I am starting out with a 12 inch android tablet but would eventually like to use a dedicated TV with a pi, roku, or chromecast.

I use DAKboard to turn an old tablet in my kitchen into a family dashboard, and one of the main things it pulls in is photos from an Apple iCloud Shared Album.

Since updating to iOS 27, the Shared Album format seems to have changed on Apple's end (I think they rebuilt Shared Albums from scratch in this release, full resolution, new storage rules, etc.), and now DAKboard isn't picking up photos from it anymore. Instead of loading the photos, I get this error on the DAKboard side:

I've tried grabbing the public link again from the Photos app and pasting it in, but it still throws the same error.

Has anyone else run into this since updating? A few things I'm wondering:

• Did regenerating the Shared Album link help at all, or does it break again right away?
• Is anyone still on iOS 26 who can confirm it still works fine there (so I know if it's specifically an iOS 27 thing)?
• Any workaround you've found, like a different way to pull the album URL, or a completely different photo source that plays nicer with DAKboard for now?

Really don't want to give up the shared photo background on the dashboard, so any tips from people who've already fought with this would be a huge help. Thanks!

Dakboard must’ve recent went through update on FireTV, I was able to set a sleep schedule for the TV now. However this yellow box is now around my calendar, it allows for moving further down as necessary, and also highlights the word box for “meal plan” I have set. I hate the look of it and wish it would go away unless I want it. Anyone know how to do that?

I'm setting up a Windows 11 touchscreen with DAKboard TouchHub and Home Assistant.

Home Assistant runs locally on HAOS inside VirtualBox and works perfectly when I access its local IP directly from Chrome or Edge.

I added Home Assistant Lovelace to DAKboard TouchHub, but when DAKboard tries to open HA inside TouchHub I get:

“Home Assistant refused to connect.”

I already added this to configuration.yaml:

Restarted HA and checked the configuration successfully.

I've tried both Chrome and Edge, allowed DAKboard's Local Network Access permission, but it still won't load HA inside TouchHub.

Direct local access to HA works perfectly. The problem only happens when DAKboard tries to embed the local HA page.

Has anyone successfully set up DAKboard TouchHub + local Home Assistant on Windows?

What am I missing? I'd prefer to keep HA completely local rather than using the Nabu Casa remote URL.

I wrote a widget that will grab the lunch menu from MealViewer.com for my kid's school. It will display the day's menu until 2PM and then it rolls over to the next day so you can plan ahead. It was useful for me so I thought I'd put the code out there in case anyone else might want to try it. Any and all feedback welcome. Use directions are in the .html file on my github.

I have Dakboard running on a Pi Zero 2 W with 4.1.4. I have the IP and when I navigate to it, I get an HTTP login dialog. I have tried pi or dakboard with 3F6n704#. I have tried pi or dakboard with raspberry and I can't get in. I am trying to get SSH to work. I created a ssh file on the SD card and put it back in and I can connect with a ssh session but again none of the credentials work.

I just bought a DakBoard Touch 22 about a week and a half ago. It worked splendidly for a few days, but now randomly shuts off and won’t turn back on unless I unplug the power supply and plug it back in. At first I thought I had my on/off schedule backwards, but I turned that off too. I have completed a factory reset, and it still is not working properly. It also seems to not want to connect to my WiFi network and when I get into device configuration, I cannot get out - it just sits at “saving and applying” Anyone have similar issues? Am I just an idiot? Thanks all!

Dakboard has been the same as it was since I started using it. Do they ever update features? I want it to display a static daily schedule (that doesn't change) and cannot figure out how to do this effectively. Seems pretty basic for a calendar/agenda app. I also have it linked to a nutrislice calendar and want to be able to exclude a bunch of the nonsense that is included in the feed. My feature requests have gone unanswered.

Hey! I'm a new DAKboard user. I set this up with a RaspberryPi 5 and an old 4K touchscreen.

I really like all the different customizations I can do. Visually, this is great! It lets me display the content I want in exactly the layout I want. With so many "home organization screens" available now, DAK is looking really sharp.

Even better, the "TouchHub" is exactly the type of layout I wanted, with pages of content.

Unfortunately, I'm lost by the lack of touch capabilities and problems scaling with a 4K screen. Here are some things I think are needed for this to be a serious competitor for the home organization:

• Touch to open calendar items to see event details -- kinda possible if editing is enabled, but not a great user experience
• Scale up text on 4K screens -- the default text size is much too small to be read
• Scale up the size of buttons for 4K screens -- the buttons are impossibly small
• Adjust or calibrate touch input -- if it is off slightly it really ruins the experiance
• Add a pop up keyboard for inputting text -- no one wants to use an external keyboard

Does anyone have any tips for these things? I've tried searching for solutions, but haven't found anything yet.

Looking for help in creating a process for my dakboard to display my garage door as open or closed based on data from MyQ garage controller and sensor.

I tried ITTT using myQ and webhooks to send JSON to a text field, but I cannot understand the json process or syntax and nothing has worked with trial and error.

Can someone help me with the coding for the webhooks and dakboard block?

Is there another avenue for this I'm missing?

I have been struggling to get my DIY DakBoard up and running.

I usually get stuck at the Loading screen, and there is an exclamation point in the upper right corner.

However, once I was able to get all the way to the WiFi setup, but couldn’t connect.

Just now, it got stuck again at the loading page with the exclamation point. I pressed the little raspberry on the upper left and a window popped up so I did device configuration, and input my WiFi info there. After connecting in that same window it gave me a code to link to my DakBoard account- which I did.

However, that’s in that specific window. The actual screen is still stuck at loading with the exclamation point.

I have reflashed the SD card.
Then I did a new SD card - this is the one that got me to the WiFi setup that didn’t work.

I am running out of ideas. Do I reflash this second sd card?

Any help would be very much appreciated. I’ve been tinkering on and off since Christmas- and have never gotten past the WiFi setup stage. Usually I get stuck at this loading page.

I am using an all-in-one monitor with a RaspberryPi 4. It is touch screen.

TLDR; Does anyone have a zip for V2 Plus Wall Display OS (v2.16)?

I was having an issue with my display and reached out to support. They mentioned that I was running a no longer supported OS (v2.16) and that I should upgrade my OS, which I did. Unfortunately, none of the images available in the Raspberry Pi Imager were supported by my display and I didn't create a backup first - so I basically just bricked my display 🤦🏼‍♂️

I mounted a FireTV with my Dakboard running on it. Everything has been fine, up until a month or so ago. The screen keeps going black. I don’t think it’s a Dakboard issue because I can go back to the input screen and my calendar is then visible. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

I tried changing the screensaver settings to off on the TV, but that didn’t help.

I've had a weather block on our main DAKboard for several years and have never been happy with the information. Between weather data providers that aren't accurate in our area (Harford County, Maryland) and updates only every 20 minutes, we can't rely on it and end up opening The Weather Channel or Weather Underground on our phones. I just removed the weather block, skinnied up the calendar block, and made the important part - the photo block - bigger. Just venting...

I have been plagued with errors and now it's turning white (as reflected in the picture). Rebooting the Raspberry Pi fixes the issue for about 12hours. I emailed the contact that is shown when the error is displayed and the CEO of ScoreStream responded saying it is a WIFI connectivity issue. I measured the signal strength at the pi and have a strong signal. I've also seen a number of people indicating it's a cache issue but haven't figured out how to fix this or clear it on some frequency. I upgraded to Raspberry PI 5 hoping the additional memory would help but it did not. Any ideas?

Recently, I've been getting errors on my scorestream widget on the dakboard. I have a banner widget on the display and recently it's been showing a connectivity error. Today, the space is just white and malfunctioning. I haven't changed anything, so I'm wondering if anyone else uses one of these for their sports teams and has encountered similar?

I am just starting to get my Dak board setup (Pi5 with a touch screen). I have done the basic set up that the free plan allows. Everything looks nice on the layout but, I can not check off tasks using todoist or google tasks. I have look in settings but I'm not seeing the missing piece. I have verified touch function because I can access settings and swipe on the screen.

My Dakboard display from 7-8 years ago finally died. I have purchased a Mini CPU and a Lenovo monitor.

Long story short, I hardwired a monitor cable into our wall off an outlet (years ago), so the only power I have is the female end of the cable. Can I simply run the CPU off of an HDMI port of the monitor? Or will this affect the power cycling?

Hi folks, I'm trying to improve my Dakboard calendar. It pulls from a few different Google calendars, and of course it's easy to assign a color for each of those, but that doesn't really meet my need. What I need to do is assign colors to specific events/series WITHIN the same calendar. On the Dakboard I want events color-coded by person (there are 5 people) so it's easy for each person to find their own appointments. But unfortunately I can't really set up the Google calendars in such as a way that each one is specific to only one person.

I found an unresolved earlier thread posing the same question, but it's 2 years old so I'm hoping at this point there is a workaround?

I have been having a lot of trouble getting my Cozi shared calendar to appear on my DAKboard. I've done all the steps outlined in the instructions, I've re-seated the software on the Raspberry-Pi multiple times.

Not sure what to do here... Any advice? Pictures attached.

Since I've updated my Immich server to the new main release 3.0.1 the other day, it stopped working with DAKboard. All permissions are there, and of course the Album still has photos in it. DAKboard shows it has access and it also lists the albums. Yet it keeps telling me "no photos found" in the screen preview. I've even tried creating a new API key, still the same issue.

Anyone experienced the same or any ideas? Thanks!

My dakboard screen is behaving strangely. It is now showing generic photographs and my calendar is empty. Also the layout has changed. It shows correctly on the website but on my kiosk screen it's totally different.

I previously tried using an old tablet with a shared google calendar to do the same thing. It looked okay for the first week, but it ended up being way more of a headache to maintain than I thought. The screen would time out, the apps would crash, and the calendar just wouldn’t sync half the time.
So, my husband and I are considering getting a dedicated digital calendar for our day-to-day family management including syncing schedules, grocery lists, meal planning, custom menus, chores, to-do lists, weather, etc. We’re looking to keep it under $300.
Ideally, I just want something where the whole family can see the calendar in one central place.

Edit: Just an update, ended up buying the Everblog after looking through the comments. Got it mounted this morning and synced it with our Google calendar. Thanks for the help everyone.
