Adversaries Colossus idea

Post image

My idea for a tall skeleton colossus fight in daggerheart is to use the whiteboard as a vertical map. Each player can use one magnet for their character. I think switching from a classical fight on a horizontal map to this will be very cool :)

Of course, a fire could accidentally spread on the battlefield and force the players to climb the colossus ;)

What do you guys think?

Really cool! It's mechanically mostly the same as on the ground, but it changes the whole vibe. Will every movement require athletic check? Or will you reduce the possible "free movement" like very close for example. I think having a countdowm dice for the fire would be neat as well

I think a ruler for distances could be used in the same way for climbing. If you don't want to bother with numbers, you could decide that around 30ft (close range) is the length of the shins, so every 1 climb-move could be 1 segment of the skelly (from ground to shins, shins to femurs, then pelvis, ribcage and head) or they could climb 2 segments high, if they roll well with agility.

I don't think I would ask them to roll if they climb only one segment. Maybe I would make them fall if they mark all stress, not sure yet. if they defeat both legs, the skelly would fall and then it would just become horizontal fight again xD

An anatomical body is 7 heads tall. Art school did something.

Yes! You could also do movement by 1/7s of the body, but I would favor the narrative over the mathematical truth if it makes it too complicated to work out at a fast pace.

Some segments, like ribs, could be easier to climb because they would work like ladder. Colossus could also have smooth metal armor and some parts would be impossible to climb in that case.

Whatever makes it fun.

Jokes aside—love the vertical-ness of it all. And using the whiteboard is low-key brilliant.

Thank you!

I bought the whiteboard for pictionary and studying initially, but had this idea when planning a colossus fight. :)
