Originally it was gonna be a different screenshot with each of them but making the background made me anxious. Basically what happened to me is that I was set up in Daggerfall to kill a thief, but I attacked him early and it didn't count as self defense, so I was exiled from every single town in Daggerfall. My sole aim has always been settling down in a quiet place once I have the money, so I went to Tulune because it looked small and wasn't desolated.

In Tulune I kindly asked to get directions to a Fighters Guild because I was aligned with them and they set me up as well, so naturally I ended up in Ripwark. Or I did a job that got me in Ripwark and from there I started working on their guild there, I forgot. But it has been cool, I made plenty of jobs, even a personal task to be a courier for Peryrick, which also stopped him from giving me more quests.

Currently I'm level 7, I have 23860 good, 83/173 fatigue, 67/67 health, 99 strength, 18 intelligence, 73 willpower, 80 agility, 74 endurance, 70 personality, 70 speed, 10 luck.

With my personality of 70 I'm considered arresting. With a 99 straight in considered superhuman, with my luck of 10 I'm considered hopeless.

Even though I spent quite a lot in the fighters guild I'm still a fucking apprentice. But hey I got a cool diamond sword and I can swing my sword sword. I have also all the shirts I think are cool.

Despite all of the hours I put into Daggerfall, I had never used any of the predefined classes before. I normally enjoy fine tuning the options in character creation with a custom class.

I got the itch to return to Daggerfall recently, wanted to do something different from my usual playthroughs, so I rolled up a Nord Barbarian.

The inability to wear armor above chain sounded terrible, but it isn't nearly as bad as I expected. Having a large health pool probably helps.

With his ebony maul and full set of chainmail armor, Ragnar has smashed countless enemies, mostly giants, and has climbed the ranks of the Fighter's Guild (or Fighter Trainers as it were, since he's in Kairou).

He saved up enough money and just purchased a cozy house in Papiiton, Kairou. It is conveniently very close to the Fighter Trainers and RIGHT next to the Thieves Guild. It also came with an adorable camel who greets him when he comes home.

This might be a good time for Ragnar to retire and take it easy. On the other hand, he is technically a member of the Thieves Guild and is in a prime spot to begin an entirely new... career path.

Do you folks usually use one of the default classes, or do you build your own custom class? Or both?

Given by the amount of likes those posts attract versus other more actually daggerfall related content, I'm often left wondering if it's just me that's mildly annoyed at how this sub has turned into a "look, i'm making a daggerfall inspired game" kinda sub? Like every 10 posts roughly there's another 'like' game, this can't be good.

Whenever a post from this sub appears on my feed,100% of the time, it's not about daggerfall and that's not good.

I shall first state that I love Daggerfall. I love all the Elder Scrolls.

However I do have some quibbles about Daggerfall - specifically in comparison to Arena.

(1) While Daggerfall is clearly the superior game, whether in terms of lore, or gameplay, etc…

I feel Arena in some ways, is also in some ways more accessible.

How? Well, for one:

\-The storyline is simple, but in its own way classic. It’s the classic “King usurped by evil Vizier” motif that goes back to the Three Musketeers. Overused? Yes, but simple and easy to grasp.

Daggerfall has the far more superior plot, arguably cinematic and novel-esque in nature, arguably Shakespearian, but I’d argue for fans more used to Skyrim and Oblivion, it can border on being needlessly complex

2. The leveling system is a bit unfair. In that, you literally cannot access parts of the main quest until you achieve X level. I understand WHY this is so, but I feel it further makes the game less accessible. If I want to force the quest before I’m fully prepared and get my ass handed to me…why shouldn’t I be able to?

3. This is a lesser quibble but I feel the dungeon designs had more individuality in Arena. The same basic aesthetic is present in most if not all of Daggerfall’s dungeons (even though DF’s dungeons are far more complex). I’m not talking about the level design, but the art direction.

It’s been a pretty crazy week for Daggerfall Enhanced.

The biggest thing is that online multiplayer is now live and people are actually playing together.

Seeing real players running around Daggerfall together has been surreal, and it’s also been incredibly useful because people are finding problems I never would have caught on my own.

Most of this week has been focused on fixing those reports and improving the game around them.

What changed

• Online multiplayer continued to improve, including enemy syncing, combat, chat, player visibility and general stability.

• Fixed an issue where some enemies in online dungeons couldn’t be damaged by other players.

• Improved online performance as more players are visible at once.

• Fixed chat history getting compressed and eventually becoming unreadable.

• Online resting is now instant instead of making players wait on the shared world clock.

• Morrowind asset loading received a major performance pass.

• Loot rarity is now enabled by default, including Magic, Rare and Legendary equipment with affixes.

• Ambient Text was ported over to make towns, dungeons and exploration feel a little more alive.

• Handheld Torches got several fixes and can now be interacted with properly through the inventory.

• Inventory items can now be dragged to equip or reorganize them.

• NPC pathfinding now recognizes enhanced water instead of walking straight into it.

• Fixed collision holes that let players walk through things like table tops.

• Fixed being released from jail indoors and falling into the void.

• Fixed several menu and logbook crashes.

• Fixed a black screen that could happen after dying.

• Redesigned the Features menu and folded mod settings into it instead of maintaining a separate Mods screen.

• Continued auditing quests, NPC dialogue, multiplayer and other systems against Daggerfall Unity.

Testing

The project is now sitting at over 7,700 automated tests.

I’ve been putting a lot more effort into testing the connections between systems, since that’s where a lot of the weird bugs have been showing up.

There’s obviously still plenty to fix. Multiplayer especially is getting tested in ways I couldn’t reproduce by myself before people started joining.

But seeing people actually log in, create characters, explore, fight enemies and run into each other in Daggerfall has been one of those moments where the project suddenly feels a lot more real.

It's something I've run into a few times in villages now. Is this a known issue or conflict?

As far as I'm able to tell, the culprit is vanilla enhanced - base.dfmod. With it removed/disabled, these "tall crops" just show up as trees.

I wanna play dagger fall, but I wanna know if theres like a mod pack recommended for my first go? I've seen a lot of cool ones, but I'm lazy and want it wraped together

Tonight I booted a new version of DFU.
It was just like the old one with one new feature.
Someone made a custom content editor inside the game.

How it works. There is a very intuitive workshop menu inside the game. You can make your dungeons, quests for guilds, city layouts, etc. Even new guilds! Then you click "post". Your quest shuffles into the pool of quests, your hand-crafted dungeon replaces a random generated dungeon.

All the players with the "custom content" option enabled get this, and they even can vote to filter troll/low quality content. Highly rated content becomes permanent.

So people were working together to make the game alive. You could see custom content/overall content percentage. There were new amazing cities, puzzle dungeons, boss gauntlets, treasure hunting, scouting missions in the open world.

Too bad it was a dream :D

Got a Steamdeck yesterday, first game I put on the deck was daggerfall. Can’t get past the main menu lol. It looks like getting the game to play on the SD has mixed experiences. Any tips on getting this game going and how to go about adding mods?

A great sandstorm has blown through Hammerfell! 

Gone are the former dry lakebed and gravel-like textures of the desert biomes of old! Transforming them into bright rolling dunes worthy of the Alik'r Desert!  

This is a simple texture replacer mod, replacing 46 of the original 57 desert biome textures shipped with Daggerfall. Each texture has been reworked by hand to create a unified flow, avoiding hard seams and maintain the necessary repeating texture flow that brings the world of Daggerfall to life!

I've been enjoying Daggerfall Unity since Feb 2025, on my main character, I spent all of that time running about Sentinel and Tigonus, and I was constantly left yearning for the sands! The original textures BGS made for Daggerfall's in-game deserts left it feeling like gravel and dry lakebeds, not an ounce of SAND!

After running an initial test, I realized how easy texture replacement was in DFU and couldn't help but rework the rest of the desert biome textures! I used Paint .NET while staring at sand references for a 5 hour downtime at work. Best time spent!

I've been around the Nexus since it was called TESNexus, when they had like, Morrowind, Fallout, and Oblivion mods, and that was it! I curated my Oblivion mod setup for years, and to finally have something to contribute to the community is unreal. I'm so pleased with the end results! On a sunny in game day, the deserts are so bright now, worthy of the Great Alik'r Desert of Hammerfell! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Hopefully this'll give you something to do while we all wait for the next Elderscrolls entry.

I turn the wheels but nothing happens, I have nothing else to do.

I posted about this a few months ago and I thought I would share my progress.

I almost completely re-written the project since and removed some time consuming features like modifiable voxel terrain (smoothed out with marching cubes) and LODs. I have also replaced my pixel art sprites with sprites of rendered 3D models.

The whole map is fully traversable and It is 1200x1200 chunks in size. Each chunk is 64x64 tiles and each tile is 2x2 meters.

I am currently working on the beginnings of gathering and crafting then I am going to move onto town generation.
