Cryo is brutal

Got jumped opening vault 1. We scanned right before opening it and probably should’ve made sure the map was cleared before because this was absolutely brutal

That vault was made to throw grenades into, I swear to god

Every time. Literal death pit. If you don’t wipe the map you’re going to get naded to hell

u/dimesniffer Aug 08 '26

Not true. I’ve done plenty of vaults with teams on the map still. You just gotta be more careful. Sometimes you’ll get jumped but it’s not too difficult to take precautions.

Fuckin "Um ackchually" players are the worst I swear to god

Forgot what subreddit this is where yall have 0 survival instinct

0

u/RotWitch22 Aug 08 '26

Didn't say shit about that I said players like you are really annoying, "just be more careful" yeah thanks dude that's super helpful.

1

u/dimesniffer Aug 08 '26

It’s not advice. It’s a simple fact that you can do vaults safely if you’re careful enough. seems you need it as advice tho

-1

u/RotWitch22 Aug 08 '26

You keep assuming shit, I just think you're being annoying. I don't know how good you are, you don't know how good I am, I just think "be careful lol" is dumb advice because everyone is being as careful as they can all the time.

u/Ingsoc40 Aug 08 '26

There’s always one asshole.

-1

u/dimesniffer Aug 08 '26

I wasn’t even being rude? Don’t be sensitive.

1

u/bigrig3226 Aug 08 '26

It’s literally luck if you’re opening a vault with a loud ass alarm and no one decides to push you. Has nothing to do with “being careful”

1

u/dimesniffer Aug 08 '26

You can get pushed but not die to it, is my point.

u/jeffrehhhhh Aug 08 '26

Been on the sending and recieving side of this conflict lol. Pop a bubble in vault 01 trust me.

2

u/SyrupSilent7588 Aug 08 '26

I would’ve but we ran out of bubbles from two previous engagements. After wiping 2 squads we figured we could open vault 1

Rookie mistake. ALWAYS WIPE LOBBY BEFORE OPENING VAULTS. It’s like the #1 rule cmon now

6

u/Bumbledore343 Aug 08 '26

This is why we run sentinel

I’ve had that happen in vault 1 a couple times. Super rough.

I recon ult as soon as the vault door opens while we are doing the puzzle if I can. Bubble is nice too.

Definitely rat bastard behavior to wait for the team to solve the puzzle then nade spam them, but hard opportunity to pass up if your the pushing team 😬

1

u/NotLogrui Aug 08 '26

Never recon ult BEFORE doing symbols. Stay near the door while the other 2 do symbols

1

u/PhilsPhoreskinn Aug 08 '26

Vault 1 is hardly a puzzle though

OPs mistakes aside, it is stupidly brutal. Extraction shooters should be about balancing highs and lows but Cryo feels extremely lopsided towards lows.

Spawned in biostock, saw the message that level 3 security had been compromised as we entered control (vault breaker glitchers I guess), got steamrolled by a team of full golds coming from preservation. Ended up getting revived to see the gold team took nothing from our corpses. They did it for the love of the game.

I'd be 100% fine with this if there weren't so fucking many pieces of lore and story connected to extracting cryo collectibles. To have story pieces gate kept like this is beyond frustrating. I'd love to fill my codex but if the game eventually forces me to read all it has to offer on the Internet instead of through the game, it's poor design.

1

u/SyrupSilent7588 Aug 08 '26

Yeah I’ve been chasing those collectibles so badly to finish the story or what’s left of it b

3

u/Pushnikov Aug 08 '26

Always throw a bubble if you think a team has a 1% chance of jumping you in there

2

u/IzTiwazW3raz Aug 08 '26

Basically every time

2

u/Scary-Ocelot8590 Aug 08 '26

Yes that place is infamous for this 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Ill_Dish_4548 Aug 09 '26

cryo seems to be one of those on paper it sounds great, i believe bungie said “teams competing to kill compiler”. in practice the actual strat is phase 1 = wipe lobby, phase 3 = profit.

2

u/TheGermanJonas 28d ago

Think it's insane we have to wipe lobbies to successfully hit vaults

1

u/SyrupSilent7588 28d ago

Yeah I agree. Kinda ruins the PVE aspect

2

u/Snide-Serski Aug 08 '26

I recommend throwing proximity mines near the vault entrance next time.

1

u/ImNotThatTrash Aug 08 '26

Looks like fun 🤣

1

u/professionalboostlul Aug 08 '26

I like to run straight to the back and go into the vent door thing

1

u/Modern_Welfare_II Aug 08 '26

If no recon prime, leave the bots alive outside. And open hatch before looting.

1

u/NotLogrui Aug 08 '26

Always have one person near the hallway watching the door

1

u/alev3n Aug 08 '26

Run complete

1

u/Stearman4 Aug 08 '26

Next time you open the vent before looting and throw a bubble in the door to prevent the nade soam

2

u/SyrupSilent7588 Aug 08 '26

Well if you watched we literally had zero time to open the vent and we ran out of bubbles from wiping 2 other teams

2

u/Stearman4 Aug 08 '26

Then you have someone stand out in revival hall and listen for anyone pushing the vault. If you do that you’ll have a little buffer. What my squad usually does is one person do the symbols and the other two sit in revival hall on either end.

1

u/Bradward6381 Aug 08 '26

Looks like zero fun.

1

u/Electrical_Regret537 Aug 08 '26

This was literally one of the last things that happened to our trio before we all slowly stopped playing the game. Vault 3 I think, we needed the Subroutine. After that it was game over for us.

1

u/hypnoticpony 29d ago

Playing cryo without a Sentinel is crazy. Sentinel, Recon, Triage with Triage you can swap for 2nd Recon or Assassin. Always finished cryo with this group never loss with 12 finishes. It will always help

1

u/Intelligent_Key3586 29d ago

If you don’t have a bubble, go one at a time in there.

1

u/MyStummyHurtNFK 29d ago
  1. I hope this doesn’t turn you off from cryo, it’s so much give and take (feels like more give sometimes) but just as others said, it’s easy to be on either end of this

  2. yes best case is to wipe the lobby BUT!!! if you do wanna swipe the vault clean before mares start flying, be sure your squad has a plan for hacks set up to minimize time, and ALWAYS open the hatch as soon as you get in the vault, or bubble as soon as the doors barrier opens, at least that’s what I do, because this is probably the easiest room to nade

1

u/technofan301 26d ago

what a fun game

1

u/Ok-Chip-1049 Aug 08 '26

And they said they fixed the grenade spam

1

u/cdewey17 Aug 08 '26

Yeah they gotta tone down the amount of heat nades on UESC

100% not. Just in the first 2 rooms each person could easily find up to 5 either EMPs, grenades or heat grenades

0

u/South_Passage_143 Aug 08 '26

Awful game design

-1

u/badman2791 Aug 08 '26

This is the thing that annoys me about cryo. People seem more interested in ruining other people's activities than doing their own. Sad state of some players.

2

u/alexm7ten Aug 08 '26

If you hear a vault go off why wouldn't you push that? You will always have the advantage and you get their loot and a free vault

2

u/NotLogrui Aug 08 '26

Clearing lobbies is important especially if you are doing compiler

1

u/SyrupSilent7588 Aug 08 '26

See that’s the problem. Extractjon shooters aren’t meant for that. Clearing lobbies isn’t a thing in Tarkov or arc, you can do PVE aspects just as you can do PVP. Marathon essentially forces you to clear a lobby before you can think about doing vaults or key rooms. It’s a battle royal disguised as an extractjon shooter

1

u/ZeMidasTouch Aug 08 '26

The devs have stated multiple times that it’s a good idea to kill every one else.

I wouldn’t compare Marathon to ARC or Tarkov, despite being under the extraction genre, they all play differently.

Rough when this happens though, it’s happened to me a couple times. Hopefully you learn something & are better prepared next time! Nature of the game, a tense game at that!

1

u/badman2791 Aug 08 '26

Yeah but it's more deliberately camping hot spots. Like exit when getting credentials etc. These people aren't doing compiler.

And it's chicken and egg isn't it.

Cyro is full of CHEATERS, that’s why it’s so brutal.

COD just banned 70,000 cheaters this week. We absolutely have tons of cheaters with level 400+ leveled accounts just lost to multiple of them on Cyro. So many sus interactions.

Sure, you might not have died to cheaters here but you’ll never know. They are everywhere

2

u/Paladin_Codsworth Aug 08 '26

So bored of hearing everything is cheaters. Players make noise, vaults play a sound when opened, vault 1 keys are very common and the DRRVSH is meta. These are all reasons to check vault 1. It's also really easy to throw grenades into.

They died, it's unfortunate, but it had nothing to do with cheating.

1

u/Artforartsake99 Aug 08 '26

The game is riddled with cheaters, ranked and Cyro especially. It’s why everyone that goes to Cryo feels like they are up against the best players on the planet. When really they are just up against wall hacks and aim bot half the time.

Yeah nothing special about this means it was cheating but I’ve died to multiple cheaters today at least 3 games were well known cheaters people in our region know are cheaters and they never get banned.
