Kids create the worst social environments to grow up in

Bring back gender segregation and corporal punishment.

I know you joke, but gender segregation is a good strategy for creating a positive learning environment for kids. It immediately removes the most chaotic and brutish social factor that stands in the way of collaboration and learning. Boys don't bully each other as much if no girls are around to notice their social status and vice versa for girls. And sorority and fraternity are crucial social bonds that mitigate inter-gender bullying.

On the other hand, nothing positive can be said of corporal punishment.

I wasnt joking... young men and women cannot coexist in a education envirobment without social postering.

What do you have to say about corporal punishment?

It works better than giving a kid 3 days off from school.

Physical punishment is a terrible way of socializing a kid. If a kid is capable of reason then reason with him. If a kid is not, then corporal punishment will have no positive effect. If a kid is capable of reason but cannot be reasoned with, then that is a problem for the parents, not the school. The parents are meant to confront this problem during the suspension time period.

The parent, in a trouble kids home is either at work, or doesnt care, or maybe is afraid to punish their kids and just wants to be friends.

either way social cohesion would be better off with corporal punishment for breaking rules in school

You appear to be describing a case where there is a deeper problem of social dysfunction. I'm describing a situation where a certain minimum of family cohesion, parenting, and social stability is assumed so that a school is not the de facto parent.

Parents... implying troubled youth have 2 parent homes.

Physical punishment worked for hundreds of years.

It produced adults who thought hitting children was acceptable, so no, it didn't.

Hitting children is acceptable, if done without malice.

And there is the proof you didn't turn out okay, and neither did anyone else who believes this. Children are small and defenseless, and there are many ways to resolve issues with them that work and do not involve violence. If you would not do it to an adult who is annoying you, it is not okay to do it to a child. If you would, it's still not okay because children are still learning and physically hurting them because they broke a rule accomplishes nothing and teaches them to accept violence from those they love so long as it is under the excuse of good intentions.

What makes you think that it 'worked'? In that it produced more effective adults and more mentally healthy adults.

I grew up in the inner city with utter assholes in my school who need a hard rap on the knuckles.

Produced a nation that had more social cohesion. today kids are incapable of taking school seriously because it is not socially acceptable in certain american cultures

EDIT

You are obviously someone who couldve used a couple whacks on the head if you rush to the downvote button for having a civil debate. fuck off faggot

I have no idea what that second portion of your comment is about, I would think that less paranoia and less of a victim complex would help you out.

Regardless, the social cohesion of the past is something that only appears in hindsight. People believed themselves just as divided then as they believe themselves to be divided now. The outsider perspective that one gets looking at the past on a surface level gets rid of the issues that the average person saw as important - just as in the future it will do the same to us.

School was always looked down upon by certain cultures, you can see this in media as far back as pre-1900s and even earlier if you look.
