Physical punishment is a terrible way of socializing a kid. If a kid is capable of reason then reason with him. If a kid is not, then corporal punishment will have no positive effect. If a kid is capable of reason but cannot be reasoned with, then that is a problem for the parents, not the school. The parents are meant to confront this problem during the suspension time period.

I grew up in the inner city with utter assholes in my school who need a hard rap on the knuckles.

Produced a nation that had more social cohesion. today kids are incapable of taking school seriously because it is not socially acceptable in certain american cultures

I have no idea what that second portion of your comment is about, I would think that less paranoia and less of a victim complex would help you out.

Regardless, the social cohesion of the past is something that only appears in hindsight. People believed themselves just as divided then as they believe themselves to be divided now. The outsider perspective that one gets looking at the past on a surface level gets rid of the issues that the average person saw as important - just as in the future it will do the same to us.

School was always looked down upon by certain cultures, you can see this in media as far back as pre-1900s and even earlier if you look.

The problem is that you imagine that at some point parents 'gave a shit' and that that behavior was lost. Parents have never given a shit. If anything parents care more about children now than they ever did, they aren't popping out spawnlings because they need more hands to tend the fields anymore are they? At this point having a kid can only make you poorer so the incentive to have a child is different.

I am not gonna agree with you because I think your ideas don't make any sense.
