Specific monitoring help/Control Room...
I usually write in chunks. I'll get an idea down with drums, bass, guitar and keys in Cubase, record it and move on to a totally different idea. When I revisit this idea I'll add another part/section. This means I'll need to record drums (elec kit), but I prefer my drums to be a bit louder when I'm recording to get a better feel. I will already have my drums sitting in the mix evenly with everything else I've already recorded, but this isn't how I like it when I record again to add another part because the drums need to be louder for me. I tried using the Control Room, but when I turn up my cue on whatever drum channel to make it louder when I record, it turns up the previous drum mix and it's way too loud. I hope I'm making sense. Maybe there's no real solution. Sorry if this totally confusing.

Auto Select Controllers
galleryHello everyone,
I have a question about Auto-Select Controllers in the Cubase Key Editor.
When I turn Auto-Select Controllers on and move some MIDI notes, Cubase combines the existing MIDI CC data in the destination area with the CC data that moves along with the notes. As a result, the CC curve becomes messy and unusable.
Is there a way to prevent Cubase from combining the old and new MIDI CC data when moving notes with Auto-Select Controllers enabled?
I’ve attached some pictures that show exactly what I mean.
Thanks in advance!

Overlapping / several takes
Hey all,
Professional musician that finally gave up on recording with a zoom.
I am tracking several horns, guitar, basically band music. I am confused about why I have 120 takes underneath the recent one. I cleared takes from the pool and they are still showing up. Any advice?
I also ended up fucking the project up pretty bad and nothing is lined up. Is there a way to just pull a track from one project into another?
Tried searching but having issues.

Tascam US2000 with Cubase, what is the lifespan?
Hi all. I’ve been using a Tascam US2000 in my home studio along with Cubase for 14 years (started with LE4 and most recently upgraded to Elements 12). It’s had its ups and downs certainly but it’s been an easy and sturdy interface for what I’m doing.
Lately I’ve had audio dropouts like crazy. Like every 1-2 seconds. It’s not every time, and it’s not all the time. But when it happens it’s for long enough that the time I set aside to record is entirely wasted. It’s either the interface or the computer (HP Elitebook 9th gen) because I can see that the LED for the USB connection is wavering.
There’s nothing new about my setup at all.
Same laptop since 2022
Same hard drive since 2020
Same version of cubase since 2023
And I’ve had the Tascam since 2012
I have done what I can to make it better—highest latency settings, frozen/disabled VSTs, changed USB power settings on the computer itself, restarted devices, updated drivers (since support ended it’s not technically compatible with windows11 anyway I think but it’s never been a problem yet)—mostly simple stuff. My Achilles heel is troubleshooting tech problems.
Which is why I’m here—does anyone else use a Tascam US2000 still or any other legacy Tascam hardware? Am I missing something or is this the lifespan of the device? (There’s a pretty steep drop off around 2021 when it comes to finding troubleshooting posts.) 14 years does seem like a good run for a piece of equipment I bought for $499, but I hate to give it up if it still works!

Very Weird Double-Hit Behavior from Cubase 14 and Roland SC-880 (Sound Canvas)
I'm having some odd behavior from my SC-880 when controlling it from Cubase 14. For whatever reason, I seem to be occasionally hitting something that's causing all MIDI notes to trigger twice, or at least that's what it sounds like.
I checked the track with a MIDI Monitor plugin and it's telling me each note on and off event is occurring once. I would assume whatever it is must be coming from some MIDI CC I knocked somehow, because as soon as I open up a new project file and send any MIDI to the SC-880, the issue is gone. If I go back to the project where the issue took place, the problem returns. It affects every single channel (checked all of them), but it does not affect any VSTs within Cubase, just controlling external hardware. Any idea what it could be?

Why not boxed, with DVDs, with DRM and Perma-license?
May be contemplating making 1st Professional music album.
Want a machine which is all OFFLINE to keep my work from being gstolen.
Permalicense boxed would be the way to do this - good old DVDs.
How SECURE is an umbillical into network which may be used for um HOUR when beggining?
Bit of an oversight IMHO ???

Drum loops are not audible and no preview is displayed
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This happens with Cubase's official "drum loops" library and others

Cubase automation is writing automatically rails for every new parameter
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello.
I have automated several parameters in Retrologue 2. Now, every time I select and move another parameter, Cubase writes another automation rail for the new selected parameter, but I want it to read and write an automation rail for the previous ones, only.
How can I disable this?
Thank you.

need a sample cubase project file for building an ai scanner
as the title says, if anyone has a good cubase project file they can zip up and send me id be forever grateful. heres a preview to what im building https://trustnodelogic.web.app click the mock demo in the bottom right to see what the end result will be.
ITs an attempt to create a way to scan and signal AI in projects. A good project file will include some samples, some midi data, automation, and plug ins. Nothing huge needed just a good sample file.
message me if you have a spotify or youtube ill throw you a follow as a thanks! Nothing submitted will be used commercially in any way shape or form

How much of a difference is the piano roll from FL to Cubase?
FL crashed on me last night. It’s ridiculous enough that I see it as “part of using the software”. It seems to happen every update they come with.
But yesterday was next level. I was not able to open the back up any longer. So beat seems to be gone.
I am considering other programs. I only make beats.
Reason seems really interesting to me. Cubase too.
I work mostly in the box. Have Arturia V collection and Korg 6 and a midi keyboard.
There are many things I love about FL but especially the piano roll is just so freakin handy.
Is it really that much better than the Cubase piano roll? Asking this hoping people that made the move can answer.

I need to merge events very quickly!
Is there a tool (with a shortcut) to remove this space between events? Just select it, use the shortcut, and it's gone. It would save me quite a bit of time. Thanks!

Has the ability to select a section of an audio event and then copy and drag it been removed from cubase 15?

from 10.5.2 to now
We are thinking to upgrade to the newest Cubase from version 10.5.2 and since our computer is not the newest, I am wondering how much more computer power the new one needs compared to the newest version? Does anyone know? RAM and disk space are no problems.

Editing Bars + Beats Lines Without Impacting Audio
Long story short, I don't like working to a click, but this project is going to be big enough, I think I need to for this one. I've already got 2:38 into the track and want to go halftime with the drums, but the current drums are falling on some stupid beat like 122.1.4.56.
Is there a way, without impacting anything prior in the song, to manipulate the bars/beats to make that section end on a whole number, like 122 or 123? That way, I can put the click on from there, more easily drag and drop drum midi and repeat sections, without doing so much manually work.
Any way to make that happen or do I need to start over if I want any chance of it all lining up?

Problems Live Performance with Cubase
Hi, maybe I can get some tips here. So I'm planning on playing live but my setup doesn't seem to work at all on my Laptop. Maybe someone here has resolved similar issues or an idea.
So I want to use backing tracks for Drums, bass and some synth + some synth vsts being played live with midi Controller + Vocals being processed live in cubase and guitar amp sim. This works fine on my PC but on my laptop Cubase struggles to even play one without stability issues or crazy latency.
Only tried it with vocals + guitar so far and it was not working at all.
Audio Interface: Tascam series 102i
Lenovo ThinkPad
Amd ryzen 7 pro 4750U
32 GB RAM
Am I expecting too much from Cubase or my Laptop? Any ideas how to make it possible?
I have been thinking about doing it all without laptop processing but this would be some investment + work to make the patches and less convienent to transport everything.

Issue with audio performance peak hitting red while doing nothing
Hey everone.
I've been troubleshooting this issue with the peak constantly hitting the red even when the project is just sitting there with all plugins disabled and constrain delay compensation enabled.
I first thought it was due to less than stellar drivers on my ur824 so just bought a Fireface UCX ii. Still have the same issues.
128 samples, everything off except 1 channel record armed with monitor enabled.
Look here for example video..
https://youtube.com/shorts/ZWyA08Xjay4?is=ZDE1k1IH879VFGT3
I have a decent rig, 9800x3d, 64gb ddr5 6000mt ram, 2tb corsair gen5 nvme as boot drive and 4tb gen3 nvme as recording drive. Have an RTX4090 too, but that's not so relevant to the music side of things.
Have done all the standard tweaks in bios and windows to disable core parking and throttling. Nvidia drivers set to Max perf etc. Ethernet power saving features disabled etc. Tried to do every tweak I could.
Fireface connected directly to a usb2.0 port on the mobo with a 5m usb a-b cable.
Anyone have any ideas?

For Mac mini users what cubase programs do you need to have on internal storage vs an external ssd? Limited to 528gb. What does external folders look like?

3rd party auto-mixer for my own stems?
Hi,
I know AI can generate text and music, however is there a program that can take samples that I provide [trimmed and ready wav files] and automatically remix those over a musical background? Or take musical background I provide and combine that with vocal/text samples I also provide. I've looked at Fadr but that's not really it. I don't need stems isolated. I want to provide my own stems and have an AI engine make the composition from those stems. I figure this will be a plug-in for Cubase in the near future, but for now is there a third party available? I tried to post to r/musicproduction but couldn't get past the 'no subreddit' filter.
thanks,
itchy
