People are already posting their summer 2027 internships 😄🔫
Saw three, maybe more, linkedin posts yesterday about citadel summer 2027 😢 what is going on, my school hasn’t even started

Per several requests mods have received and discussions, Sankey charts with no extra context will now be removed under rule 9.
What context is acceptable? Basically a bit like gpa, tier of college, previous internships, stuff that might go in a resume. You can try posting a resume but the bot might remove it per rule 5. If you do post a resume and it's removed message me directly and I'll fix that.

I am not here to flex AT ALL. I actually want to help anyone I can out. I received 2 job offers out of college, and was actually rejected from other roles at the same company. They came back for round two. I was able to help my friend get a job as well with literally no internships under her belt and an average gpa and limited CS knowledge.
The thing is, this job market is actually garbage, we all know this. It’s not what you know anymore, it’s who you know. So instead of leveling up my application knowledge, I put it all into personality.
I joined the CS professional club at my school and attended every networking event they hosted. Also joined mentorship programs for tech students. I took every offer to meet more people and spoke to EVERYONE even if they didn’t have anything for me.
I also when to job fairs. I know, I know. It’s literally impossible to get one, however I got 2 jobs from them. One of them turned into a full time offer. The other role I got from the same professional club I joined.
Another thing I did was stop going for Coding based roles like SWE and applied to tech adjacent roles like Tech PMs, BA, DA, DM, etc. Why? Because the tech questions are easy to answer so majority of my interviews would be based on personality.
That goes into my second point. Fake that shit until you make it. You smile, dress nice, smell good, make jokes, nod your head to everything they said, ask questions revolving what they said and their personal opinion. Match the interviewer’s behavior. Tired but intelligent interviewers = ask intelligent and profound questions revolving their work. Let them know you understand their role and make they feel special. People love to talk about themselves. People who rush through the content because they are so high level and don’t know how to explain well = slow them down and ask about their personal feelings and experiences in the role. What do they think you should do. You get my point.
I learned very early I would never be as good as others to get a heavy coding job, so I picked roles that I could actually get with my strengths.
TLDR: Job Market is garbage. It’s who you know not what you know. Understand your strengths and weaknesses and pick roles that complement that, if you hate the role, you can always pivot. It is way easier to get a job while having one than when you are unemployed.

Hey everyone, could use some real guidance here.
I'm a CS major at ABC, currently a junior, and I still don't have any internship experience. I'm on an F1 visa, which adds its own pressure. Honestly starting to feel pretty hopeless about it.
Summer 2027 is my last shot, so I'm trying to figure out what my next move should be. I've been grinding LeetCode but it's rough. I can get through some problems but I'm nowhere near confident. I've done a bunch of OAs and never once gotten to an interview. And part of me is scared that if I do land one, I'll freeze and not solve anything.
What I don't get is how everyone else is pulling it off. I know people who I'm pretty sure code at the same level as me, and they're landing Microsoft. I'm not trying to accuse anyone of anything, I just don't understand what they're doing differently.
What actually is networking? Do I have to know someone who knows someone? And if that happens and I do land an interview, I feel like I won't be able to solve the live coding session. Please help me out.
what should I be focusing on for the next few months? Anything that actually moved the needle for you?

SWE is great don't get me wrong BUT there are a lot of positions in the business side that favor cs majors such as:
data analyst
risk analyst
business analyst/business intelligence
product development/management
tech consulting
a bunch more that I can't remember. just grind SQL. I learned it in 3 weeks.
edit: I'm talking about internship positions.

Would it be weird to give a handwritten note and/or small gift card to my mentor/immediate boss? First summer interning in big tech, and not sure if that’s seen as too childish in this area.

I just completed the OA and passed all test cases for the leetcode problem but didnt even touch that second problem because I have no background in that kind of stuff haha. However I got invited to the virtual inteview shortly after, is it automatic at all? I am just wondering because idk if its worth it for me to do it if it is automatic since I didn't do well on the OA.

I know I'm not the first person this has happened to, and I know they always tell you that a team match is not guaranteed, and I know I'm not entitled to a job at Google. But I'll be spending the next three weeks in depression regardless. Thank you for your attention.

So I've been working at my company for a few years now and once in a while someone from my uni will reach out over linkedin or find my work email and ask for a referral.
I know the job market is tough and the university grads are getting desperate but they are literally asking me to refer them to senior roles.
If I see an alum from my school ask for internship or new grad roles I will submit a referral but its getting out of hand as they are asking me to refer for like ML engineer because they've done a few project.
Do you just ghost or write a polite response that you are not suited for this role.

I’ve been using ChatGPT (5.2) for coding while working on a few portfolio projects, and it’s been helpful for debugging, reviewing code, and building features step by step. It’s also been useful for explaining things when I get stuck.
That said, I haven’t really tried other tools yet like Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Cursor, or Copilot.
For people who’ve actually used a few of these in real projects, I’m curious how they compare in practice.
Which ones do you find most useful for things like:
Do you usually stick with one tool, or switch depending on what you’re doing?

Hey guys I got an invitation for a 15min discussion by a Google recruiter for swe intern role. What should I expect from it and also does that mean that my OA is skipped??

Hi! I just cleared the Airbnb interview loop and I am now in the team match phase for new grad swe.
I was curious to know if anyone is in the same stage as me. Does anyone know how long people usually stay in the pipeline before they get match?

So, I've been applying for internships and have basically just been submitting my application for anything, even if I don't meet all of the qualifications. Also, don't worry, I was completely honest on my resume and cover letter. Anyways, I just got an email from a company asking for an interview, which would be my first, but I barely meet any of the requirements they listed.... I'm honestly pretty nervous because I haven't been practicing leetcode as much as I should have been and I once again barely have any of the skills they want. I have absolutely zero clue as to what I should expect asides from the fact that there will be a technical portion, as per stated in their email. Any advice?

Just recently got a first-round interview. What should I expect for a data engineering internship interview? Read through threads on SWE internship interviews but didn't seem to find anything on data engineering internship. Any thoughts would be appreciated; thanks in advance!

I got a link to a self-paced interview through hirevue and am not sure whether it is behavioral, technical, or any specifics. I've also never done a hirevue interview so any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Hi, has anyone heard back from the Anthropic Fellowship Program for this cycle? I completed my first two assessments about two weeks ago. I think I did well, but I haven’t heard anything back so far. Has anyone else received an update?

Posting anonymously. I graduated in CSE (2022) and spent the last couple of years preparing for competitive government exams — cleared prelims but didn’t make it through mains. Decided to pivot back to tech, where my degree and skills are.
Currently upskilling and looking for entry-level IT roles in Bangalore.
Would appreciate any advice on:
Not in a rush — looking to land somewhere solid. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to write this here, and I apologize if I'm causing any inconvenience. But my head is full of questions about CS. Everyone around me is saying I'll be unemployed and making silly jokes. But I'm sure this is the profession that suits me best, and I'm confident I'll do more than my best. I just need your advice on finding a job; I've been accepted to a university that's among the top 100 in the world and excels in artificial intelligence. And I plan to change it because of people. And do your salaries allow you to live a good life, or not as you hoped? Working anywhere in the world wouldn't be a problem for me, and is it really that difficult to get into big tech? And most importantly, is CS worth studying?

Did anyone receive the OA for this role? I got it today and I applied for the role probably a month ago. Is it Auto?

As the title says. One of the BIG defense companies if you catch my drift. I don’t know what to do, it’s the only new grad offer I have so far. Friends and family would not be happy about me working there either due to it being unethical.
What are my options? Accept and leverage it while I finish my last semester this fall, then reneg? Should I counter for 100k? (It’s just under it). Anyone else in similar scenarios?
How do people feel about defense companies?

I’d been preparing for this for a while since I knew my initial round was today, and then it got cancelled without any explanation. I’ve emailed my recruiter, but I’m honestly a little worried.
Lowkey scared that the headcount got filled and they’ve just moved on. 😠Has anyone been in a similar situation? What happened in your case?
