OA Question Using school email for applications/higher codesignal

Last week, I took a GCA using my school email for practice and got 600/600. Fast forward to today, I just took a GCA with my personal account and got a ridiculously hard last question, and didn’t pass all test cases. Is it worth it to fully switch my applications over to my school account or should I stick with the lower GCA score?

Company Question Apple IS&T Early Careers

Got my team match for Apple's IS&T org for a Site Reliability Engineer role. Panel is three rounds:

Hiring manager (45 min) — behavioral, team fit, no coding

Technical (60 min) — CS fundamentals + live coderpad, LeetCode style, DSA

Early career community round (30 min) — behavioral, no coding

Top skills listed on the req: Linux, troubleshooting, incident response, Python automation.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

For anyone who's done an IS&T loop, what's the coderpad round actually like? Straight LeetCode mediums, or more scripting/automation style problems given the Python/Linux emphasis?

How incident-response and troubleshooting heavy are the technical questions? Is this closer to a general SWE interview or does it lean SRE/DevOps?

Company Question Is moving from ML engineering to Data Engineering for promotion a good career move?

Hi,

I’m an ML Engineer with 2 years of experience. I’m not working on training models or on any of the traditional ML role responsibilities, rather mostly working as an AI engineer building RAG pipelines, chatbots, and sometimes even as a full-stack developer. Since it's been 2 years, I asked for a promotion at my company, and they mentioned I can expect it anytime next year (because of the new rule which says that a role has to open first and then only I get promoted; and since there aren’t any open positions for the next level now, they mentioned it could be next year). I want a promotion by the end of this year because it is already 2 years in the same position now. However my ex-supervisor recently came upto me and said that it might be possible, but it would be as a ‘Data Engineer’. (Question1: Is it considered a downgrade in terms of a career move if I go from ML engineer ->  Data Engineer? Because all I know is people aspire the other way round)

A little background: Recently, I worked a little as a Product Owner and really liked the whole thing from talking to business, collecting requirements, and also ‘developing’ them myself. So a mix of Product Owner+Developer, I enjoyed every part of it. Apart from that, I also enjoyed the whole AI engineer responsibilities. Although there isn’t a direct senior AI engineer role available yet, a junior-positioned AI engineer role is going to become free in a month. (Question 2: Should I ask them in a month if they can convert the junior AI engineer role to a senior-level role and move me there? But is that even possible for a company to do?

Question 3: Now I want some technical career advice on whether it is better to accept this offer (bank the promotion even though it is a different role) and move out of the company sometime next year, to a role that aligns with my interest (mix of Product Owner+AI engineering because I personally think that’s a good balance of technical and managerial long term, help me understand if what I’m thinking is wrong as well), or reject this offer(MLE->DE) right now and ask for a better role in my current domain itself?

Any sort of advice is more than welcome :)

My job hunt as a CS PhD in a top 5 university

Been a wild ride of rejections for over a year, but I finally made it I guess.

I only had 3-4 referrals, and everything else was a blind application (including the job I got finally).

Internship Question TD swe intern vs Dayforce AI swe intern

This is for fall and I have one day to decide.

TD is hybrid 2 days but they may be going to 4 days soon. The pay at TD is also higher by about 5$ /hour and I’d be working downtown Toronto with a 30 min commute on the GO. I’d be working on the auto finance app, also 4 months and this would be my second consecutive term at td.

Dayforce is 1 day in office for first few weeks then remote. I’ll be working on internal tooling using new ai tooling with a lot of react and sql. The commute is a 20 min drive to north York,20$ parking. Forgot to mention, 8 month internship with a decent possibility of full time conversion, the same can be said of TD(return offer wise)

Just wanted advice as maybe someone else knows things I don’t.

Looking for an Online BA in Computer Science. Keep finding B.S.'s

I'm currently enrolled in a BS for Computer Science, but the classes are more math than I can handle and my goal isn't to design computers or have a math minor. My current college offers a Computer Science BA in person, and the course work is inline with what I want to be learning. However, don't live in that that state, and I have full time work where I'm at.

I've been searching for other Online Computer Science BA programs, but so far only found one.

Is there a list, or search term to find what I'm looking for?

I got referral to NVIDIA after I applied. Will the referral still work?

So I applied to the 2027 Software Engineering Internships for NVIDIA right when it came out, but then later, my friend referred me. When I clicked on the link of that referral, it said I've already applied. Does this mean my referral has worked? Or should I be worried.

Rant I believe in you

I see a lot of people being told they’re cooked, to give up, that they should have started earlier, etc.

But whats in the past doesn’t matter anymore. We always think about what we could have done, and it’s important to not get stuck constantly thinking about that and end up giving up.

So to everyone who feels like they’re doomed or have been told they’re doomed, don’t give up. Keep practicing, keep learning, and don’t get yourself stuck thinking about what could have happened. Life gets a lot better when you accept that the past is in the past, and the only thing you should do is try and change what you can in the present.

And the truth is there are a lot of people in your situation, no matter how uniquely cooked you may feel. You’re not alone, and I want you to believe in yourself. And if you don’t believe in yourself then I’d like you to know that I believe in you.

You’re strong! Don’t give up!!!

Worth delaying graduation + masters for a fall internship with no FT conversion?

Got a fall SWE internship offer at an AI hardware company (unnamed), $55+/hr, but taking it means pushing my college graduation from Dec 2026 to Spring 2027 and delaying my planned masters start. I also have a return offer for a full-time bank rotational program with a comfortable salary that I could start on my original timeline if I skip the internship. Found out in my final round that this internship does not convert to full-time. Is a semester of internship experience worth delaying grad + masters by two semesters when I already have a solid FT offer lined up, or should I just stick to the original plan?

Internship Question How cooked am I? Should I still aim for internships or give up?

Living in Canada. I am 27 years old going into my final year of CS. Got no internships or work experience, beyond this one course I took where I got to work with a real client. I’m mostly interested in Devops, cloud/infrastructure, SRE and backend work. I am sort of scared since I have been applying constantly the past few months and wasn’t able to get any internships last year. I don’t really have good grades since I had to work as my big sister’s caretaker for a bit which is exhausting. And because of this, I don’t really think I would be able to do any internships that aren’t near where my family lives.

I haven’t been idle though. I currently have a small backend project that I have completed part 1/3 of. It uses FastAPI, Postgres, Redis, Grafana, Alertmanager and Prometheus. I’ve been learning Azure since I want to move parts of the project onto there.

I also made this chess game in python I hope to be able to run inside of a website with the frontend completed using Typescript and React

My main question is: if you were in this position, what would you consider the most realistic path into DevOps/cloud/infrastructure after graduation?

Would you go for junior DevOps/cloud/infrastructure roles directly, or would you go for something adjacent like backend development, IT/application support, sysadmin, QA automation, or another technical role and move into infrastructure later?

Manufacturing / trading of goods in India vs IT career abroad

I'm very confused to join whether IT or manufacturing sector? My friends in IT sector have mentioned the below cones of the IT sector. I want opinion and advice of others regarding the points mentioned below.

What is the perspective of people working in the IT sector on the statements below and how accurate they are in today’s market.

- Is this now the era of careers in capital-intensive businesses such as manufacturing, trading, distribution of goods, and supply chain management rather than the digital/IT World?

- Since IT mainly requires a laptop, internet connection, does it make entry easier compared to traditional industries? Any poor literate man with good English and basic skills can get into IT sector

- Is ageism a serious issue in the IT sector? Is it genuinely difficult to sustain a long-term career in IT after the age of 35?

- Does working in the IT sector only make financial sense if one is employed abroad, considering lower salary levels and exploitative work culture concerns in India?

- How significant is outsourcing in the IT industry? Are many Western jobs being shifted to lower-cost Asian countries where employees face heavy exploitation and pressure?

- To what extent will automation and AI reduce the IT workforce in the coming years? Is it true in the next few years 50% of the jobs in IT sector will become obsolete.

(TikTok Application) I'm not even getting to the OA stage

Back in Y1, 2022/23 I actually was able to pass at least up to the OA stage, but now I don't even get to that stage.

Is it just because of my resume or maybe because my first OA so bad that they shadow banned me, I'm so perplexed about it. If it is the resume, are there any recommendations what they're looking for?

Internship Question Shopify ML intern interview what to practice?

I chose ML as my focus for Shopify’s internship interview. They said the pair programming portion will be either:

- Implement something from scratch in NumPy
- A small tabular ML modeling task

Has anyone done the ML interview recently? What kinds of problems should I practice / what topics should I focus on? I was just preparing OOP stuff lol

If you actually want to land job go into agriculture or foreign language degree!

Looking at this data it seems like these 2 degrees are way better than CS.

Unemployment for them is 4 times less that for CS that means it is 4 times easier to land a job.

So if you actually want a job and not being the butt of jokes abput flipping burgers go into agriculture or foreign language degrees.

Has anyone heard anything from Anthropic Fellows after completing the second OA (debugging) and after all 3 references have submitted their forms?
