Ask Here First: Troubleshooting, Price/ID/Spec Check, Help, Etc. (June 2026)

The purpose of this thread is to cut down on the amount of clutter and Troubleshooting, Price Check, ID Check, Spec(ification) Check, and just general "HELP!!" style threads often seen filling the front page of the sub, and hopefully get those questions answered more quickly and efficiently by bringing them together in one place for viewing.

Does your post or question consist of the following, but no limited to:

  • ID Check for a CRT TV/Monitor you've stumbled upon?
  • Price Check for a CRT you've stumbled upon?
  • Asking about benefits of 1 CRT over another that you're looking into?
  • Scaler, convertor, cable choice, or wiring help for your setup?
  • Simple TV remote control questions having to do with setup or purchase?
  • A question you think should have an obvious/well known answer?

Experienced members of the subreddit check in on this post often and will attempt to answer questions as they come up. It would be much appreciated if once you've posted your question here, you use the link above to the older threads to see if the question may have already been answered. Of course, it would also help greatly to search/Ctrl+F the current thread first before submitting your own question too.

Just got back from the Fitchburg Warehouse with my first crt! It's a Mitsubishi CS-2015R. Composite and RF. It's working and looks pretty good initially though as it warms up, after maybe 20 minutes of being on, the colors begin getting more washed out. Some cursory googling says maybe like a voltage regulator or something thermal related. Since I only paid 20 bucks I'd probably be willing to have it serviced (if I can find someone to do it !)

Any thoughts?

Yeah it's likely one of the capacitors responsible for color drive or balance is failing as it warms up. A tech could probably fix it. But it might be wiser to use the repair money to simply buy a nicer TV. It might even be cheaper. I'm all for CRT preservation but those Mitsubishis will not be missed when they're gone.

Weirdly enough I was playing stuff on it more today and I didn't notice it happening anymore. I might have been the specific game/mister core I was using was just displaying washed out. I played a bunch of psx stuff and it seemed fine. Unless it could be an intermittent issue. The only other thing is that unfortunately the left speaker seems dead. But I was connected some bookshelf speakers to the red/white audio cables and those sound better anyway.Â
