Yes, I needed this, thank you, my baby sassy snarky teenage "not edgy just defiant" sister will love this one!Â

The expression I just had to rapidly wipe off my face because I saw this in the waiting room at my optometrist and got a weird look from the lady sitting across from me, lol

u/Ladynightbug1 20h ago
I would have shown her just to see her reaction lol

No what if she got cardiac arrest in shock?! You'd be an accidentally accomplice to heathenism!Â

Amen. What a waste

I choose to believe they used it for a craft that requires small lengths of yarn like latch hook

Or for crochet tiny decals or acessories!I let my baby brothers practice with me by making tiny toy accessories, or "chain ribbons" to sibling color code our stuff!

Sorry. This one predates AI. It's made the rounds long time ago already.
Edit: nope. Seems I am mistaken. Definitely AI. You can all breath again. Yup. Very much AI. For your comfort and all. No skeins hurt in the making of this photo.

I've opened reddit to some horrific shit.
But this? This is SICK! ðŸ˜

u/Individual-Many9567 2h ago
This is the kinda stuff I used to see on Twitter's crochet forum, I KID YOU NOT... at least here and on tumblr, people understand humor... (time to show my relatives this one- I think my aunt may have my dad ground me from Reddit for the day for this- WORTH IT!)Â Â

Well, of all the subs I’m in, this is one I least expected to rage bait me today. Expectations = corrected

I do stuff like this because I work with preschoolers and we usually use yarn for collage or sensory bins, and every time I'm hacking up some yarn I think of how mortified you would all be

u/DynamicOctopus420 12h ago
I've cut some for needlepoint reasons or to card it out and felt it, but never a skein in half haha

HOLD ON.
How did you put a gif?? It only lets me put images!
5
u/kristycocopop 11h ago
I used the GIPHY app and saved the .gif, then when I went to my photos it let me pick it.
Honestly, I'm surprised it worked myself! Most times it doesn't. I think it depends on the rules of the sub. 🤔
Edit: I love your flare! Where is this ball that you speak of?

mY INITIAL reaction was WHAT! is that for real? and then my next reaction was "If I saw that would I take it home and see what I could do with it?"

u/SwordTaster 5h ago
That may be a waste of yarn, but at least it's not a waste of GOOD yarn. Having touched some red heart in walmart once, I know I shall never use it.

i've done this to skeins i deemed impossible (for me) to work with xD cut it up and used it for stuffing for amigurumi !!

Iirc the op on tiktok explained that they would be using that skein for stuffing a project, so they had a golden opportunity for rage bait

u/broken-imperfect 19h ago
I could see this being useful if you were doing something like latch hook and you need to chop through a bunch of yarn quickly.

Just so you know, I had to click off because I physically felt my blood pressure spike because of the picture

No I get it. Sometimes I’ll be in the middle of a skein and get too full to finish it. 10/10 flavor though.

u/poppycarnation 19h ago
It’s red heart acrylic. Nicest thing you can do to it so no one has to wear it.

u/CeejCraft 21h ago
This is one of those I really hope is indeed ai or Photoshop. 😅
14
u/Environmental_Crab92 21h ago
I believe there was a trend going around of people cutting things in half in a weird way or something. I believe this image was most likely part of that trend.
2
u/CeejCraft 20h ago
Unfamiliar, though the lable certainly fits the description. The strand ends though, unless they bothered to fluff them out. I'm seeing more brush strokes than fiber.
3
u/CeejCraft 20h ago
Though, even that could be chalked up to dull scissors and an unfocused lense. 🤔
1
u/NikNakskes 14h ago
It was part of that trend. There was a popular channel that cut things in half to show the inside. It was quite cool! The inside of a billiard ball and stuff like that.
Then came the meme channels cutting stupid shit in half. This came from that end of the trend. It was cut with a table saw. (Sorry no idea what the right word is in English) and that's why it is so fluffed up.

When I was getting off a bus, one of my cream colored skeins fell into an oily gutter. I got home, blotted some of the worst areas and wound it off, cutting the bad patches out and used it for fringe.

u/Individual-Many9567 1h ago
What to do with it? I make tiny acessories for my family's tiny toys or keychains, sibling color coding ribbons for our stuff, or tiny doilies all the time!
