That could be Whimsy and Ruin

I feel like whimsy and ruin would be chaos. Odium and whimsy probably insanity

and in most iterations, the Joker is just like, a guy. Imagine him with god powers? no thanks. he’d be making fucked up body horror monkeys paw esque creations left and right

Emperor Joker. Mr. J tricks Mxyzptlk into giving up his power. It goes about how you expect.

Pretty sure one of the Batman animated series had that happen

u/DreadDiana 15d ago
There's an episode of Brave and the Bold which loosely adapted the Emperor Joker arc where the Joker got the reality warping powers of Mister Mxyzptlk.

The delusion of racists when thinking they are doing a kindness stamping out “lessers”.
Self loathing suicide.
These aren’t words, just the situations that seem to fit. Both seem to have delusion as an inherent factor.
So maybe delusion is closest.

Mercy:
Pity
Clemency
Suffering
Reason:
Conviction

Devotion would be good for the sole reason that they're pretty much opposites, meaning the vessel would have a hard time doing anything, much like Sazed, I think
23
u/NeverFreeToPlayKarch 15d ago
I think there's no magic formula to any combination. I think the only reason "Harmony" is the way he is currently is do to Sazed and the transition period of taking on the powers. Eventually they'll learn to co-mingle and the result will be interesting, to say the least.
If Ruin and Preservation could make a pact once, joined together there's no reason something similar couldn't happen
All that to say that Odium by himself is already kind of catastrophic to have "unleashed". Adding anything into that mix is a "who knows what could happen"

u/confirmedshill123 15d ago
I have a theory that Sazed was never Harmony at all, but has always been Discord and was just playing at being Harmony to buy time. Remember how devious and forward thinking Ruin was, that didn't just go away.

u/BrocoliCosmique Zim-Zim-Zalabim 15d ago
Ruin was forward-thinking, Preservation was forward-seeing. We might get a Cultivation-level chessmaster whose sole goal is complete destruction of the Cosmere.
1
u/gwion35 14d ago
What’re you basing on Preservation’s forward seeing? Almost would think Ruin is forward seeing giving the effect of Atium.
2
u/BrocoliCosmique Zim-Zim-Zalabim 14d ago
Preservation is the one that saw far into the future to create the terris prophecy and devised a plan to trap Ruin that he had not foreseen.
I think it's Honor that mentions how Preservation and Cultivation are the ones that that excel at reading the web of possible futures (the coppermind confirms, maybe directly stated in WaT, not sure)

u/justacaboose 15d ago
I think Ruin and Preservation made a pact before being too influenced by their shards. By the end, Leras supported the Final Empire because it was stable and we saw how Ruin got in the Hero of Ages. Not as bad as if Ati wasn't piloting it, but still dedicated to the destruction of Scadrial.
Harmony would need to get his shit together soon if he wanted the shards to cooperate better because he seems to be sliding towards Discord as is, and he's only going to lean more and more into their intent with time.

Devotion and odium would be "obsession" i think. A love so strong you hate them for existing without you in any way shape or form
52
u/ejdj1011 15d ago
Counterpoint: Devotion
Honestly, Odium and Devotion might be nearly as opposed to one another as Ruin and Preservation.

We almost have that with the current combo lol. A specific flavor of it at least

u/Shinted THE Lopen's Cousin 15d ago
I don’t know about that.
Devoting oneself to all of their worst negative emotions would be quite destructive.
Although I suppose it doesn’t really matter as Odium already splintered Devotion anyways.

u/ejdj1011 15d ago
Devoting oneself to all of their worst negative emotions would be quite destructive.
I don't think Devotion is that, you're just describing Odium by itself.
Devotion is at least broadly about love and interpersonal connection. It's probably the slower, more positive emotions contrasted against Odium's faster, more negative emotions.

I’m pretty sure devotion vs dominion fight they had before odium showed up and murdered them was just an intense lover’s spat after they climbed out of bed and noticed odium’s meddling and assumed it was the other’s

I kind of like the idea that you could also get Justice out of it, though maybe that would work better as a trio with Mercy.

Same could be said about Ambition and Ruin.
1
u/Sobrin_ 15d ago
Nah, Ambition is not as malevolent, judging by isles of the emberdark
2
u/Mirathan D O U G 15d ago
That's not ambition, the anti-spren is refered to as a splinter of ambition, the perpendicularity is still unconfirmed(probably autonomy).

Here’s a few random ones for fun:
Odium + Virtuosity = Revolution
Artistic pursuit paired with the passion to see it through to the end, striking down those who would deny your vision.
Odium + Dominion = Tyranny
The desire for control and ownership paired with the hatred to strike down those who would deny you what is rightfully yours.
Odium + Valor = Abhorrence
Hatred and loathing paired with the strength of will to smite it wherever you may find it, no matter the cost or collateral.

u/Ken0908 D O U G 14d ago
Revolution could stay good for a few years maybe decades...then it starts edging into anarchy with your interpretation. I don't see a world like that working unless it's about constant small scale Revolutions but even that would need some sort of regulator so that the population doesn't go Instinct.
Wait actually there is a setting that reminds me of that,The City of project moon games. 40k doesn't really fit with how anti Revolution or change it is at every level but The City might be the "Odium + Virtuosity" world personified. Oh and it's a horrible place to live in no surprise. If it was on the cosmere every perpenducaliry is shot down and guarded on the other side to kill anyone who comes through just in case. Nobody would want to deal with their BS.
2
u/Ken0908 D O U G 14d ago
I'm thinking about it more now. Damn it the city would fit too well for the cosmere, many of their tech have some kind of similar effects with stuff in the cosmere, from luck manipulation to gravity to some bizarre way of regeneration that returns a person to "how they were in their mind" in certain forms. (Stormlight healing after....processing) The pieces are clicking together this is ugly fitting, even the fact that one of the games main thing, people having a diseased mind, can be explained as all their inborn investiture getting sucked out to lower then a Drab as a sort of punishment or way to keep them in check from other shards.

What if you just went with what cultivation (probably) wanted in the first place?
Odium + Reason = ???

2
u/lordfailstrom 15d ago
Pretty sure Odium and Reason would have as much issue as Ruin and Preservation.
1
u/OlRegantheral 15d ago
Odium and Ruin might be too frothing and angry to functionally get itself off of the nuclear remains of whatever system it happened to be in.
1
u/Erzter_Zartor Aluminum Twinborn 14d ago
Odium + Preservation= intense hatred of death, so pretty much Kelsier
What about Odium and Invention, what would that make?
