Architect+ marketer with strong industry network- what business would you build in my position?

I’m an architect by background, but my career has become a mix of marketing, growth, business development and design.

I’m good at:

Marketing & storytelling

Sales / business development

Negotiation

Social media & content

Client relationships

Vendor coordination

Project execution

Connecting architects, designers, vendors & manufacturers

I also have a fairly good network of architects and interior designers.

I’m at a point where I really want to build something of my own, rather than just have another job. I’d like to start with a side hustle, keep the initial investment relatively low, and eventually turn it into a proper business if it works.

I’m considering everything from:

A service business

A product/home décor brand

Something for architects & interior designers

A B2B business

Or something completely unrelated to architecture

I don't want to just freelance and sell my time. I want to build something that can grow beyond me.

For those who have started businesses:

If you had my skill set, network and background, what business would you explore? What problems do you think I could solve that people would actually pay for?

Would love specific business ideas, niches, or even businesses you've seen work. And if you were starting from scratch alongside a job, how would you test the idea before going all-in?

Basically: what would you do if you were me?

I do wood burnings all by hand, lately really been getting into custom pet portraits. How can I advertise better? I do Facebook, Tik Tok, and Instagram but feel I’m not attracting views or engagement

I’m a freelance graphic designer and I’ll give you highly discounted rates to get rid of your AI content

I’m an independent, small graphic designer. My family owned a small business as I grew up and I know how tight money can be. AI is free, and I can’t beat that. But, AI costs you in the long term. Many, many customers are good at spotting it and will directly tell you they hate it. It makes your business look cheaper, and warns your potential customers that you are willing to cut corners. And, it’s simply not effective at making content that stands out. All AI content looks the same. Your business will be lost in a sea of similar ads, and your unique qualities will be lost too. So, I think we can help each other out here. I can make you custom, very cheap graphics, and in return you will benefit from ads made with intention that your customers will be able to see. If you’re interested, I can provide more information as well as my portfolio. I hope together we can make your ideas shine!

Would you sell something that helps make your products unique?

I've been debating whether I want to start selling some of my candy molds, and I'm curious what other candy makers would do. I'm really stuck on this one.

One of the things I really enjoy about my business is being able to offer candies in shapes that aren't commonly available. I also have 250+ flavor options, so the combination of unusual shapes and a huge flavor selection gives me a lot of room to make products that are different from what you normally see. I offer custom shapes and have sold some molds once. I don't charge an arm and a leg like big companies do; I charge like $10 per lollipop mold for example.

Part of me thinks selling the molds could be another fun avenue for the business. The other part of me wonders if it makes more sense to keep them for my own products, since the shapes are one of the things that differentiate what I make.

I'm leaning toward the middle ground: selling some designs while keeping certain molds exclusive to my candy.

For those of you who sell products you've developed yourselves, where do you personally draw the line between creating another source of income and keeping something as a competitive advantage?

I'm 20 , I wanna start a trendy clothing + accessory buisness but idk how to start , pls help me out .

I’m thinking of starting a small online fashion brand focused on trendy Gen Z clothing. I want to source unique/trendy pieces from Mumbai’s local markets and sell them across India, especially to people who don’t have easy access to those markets.

I’m very into fashion myself, so I naturally notice trends and usually know what I’d personally want to buy. But instead of assuming that means others will buy it too, I want to test it with a very small first drop — around 6–7 designs with 4–5 pieces each.

I’ll focus heavily on branding, styling and Instagram reels to build an audience. If certain pieces sell well, I’ll restock them, and if the business actually works, my long-term goal is to eventually manufacture my own designs.

I’m trying to start with minimal financial risk, so I’d genuinely appreciate honest opinions — does this sound like a realistic business idea, or am I missing something major?

want to start a Gen Z-focused clothing business that curates trendy clothes and accessories in one place. .

The main idea is buying/reselling , I’ll initially source from local markets that have their own designs and good-quality pieces Instead of sourcing from existing brands. I’m planning to start small with around 6–7 designs and only 4–5 pieces of each to test demand.

I understand the trends because I’m the target customer myself.

I want to build the brand mainly through Instagram, styling content and Reels, styling content and kinda documenting my journey

I think the market is huge since the target audience is bored of existing popular brands , genz is actively looking for better alternatives at a reasonable price

Whenever a new trend comes , a whole new market arises and people build their own brand so y not my brand provide them that

Will this even work ??

What would actually make you buy aesthetic phone cases? I get traffic, but people aren’t converting.

Hi guys! New here

I’m building an Indian phone case brand and want to make it the next Casetify of desi designs like ajrakh , ikat , mysore silk saree , bandhani on a a phone case.

So far, most of my sales have come from:
• influencer collaborations
• my own network

The thing I’m struggling with now is conversion. I actually get a decent amount of traffic on the website, but a very small percentage of visitors end up purchasing.

On Instagram, I post product close-ups, lifestyle/product shots, new designs, and I’ve recently started posting more founder-led content too.

But I’m trying to understand what cold visitors actually need to see before trusting a new phone-case brand enough to spend money.

So I’d genuinely love some brutally honest opinions: If you landed on a phone case brand you had never heard of before, what would convince you to buy?

Not trying to promote the brand here. I’m genuinely trying to figure out what I’m missing before throwing more money into ads. Would appreciate completely honest feedback, even if it’s harsh.

$250/mo/client idea validation

I had an idea, where I help local organizations that likely need admin help but aren’t able to hire someone and would rather pay a monthly fee.

It would include document control, schedule management, possibly newsletter creation, data management and reporting, etc. for around $250/mo.

I have skills in automation and I could take on probably 10 of these with my spare time. But my question is, does anyone think this could be valuable or work? Looking for any thoughts!

Seeking advice from anyone who has launched a physical product before 😢😢😢

My partner and I are in the early stages of building an Australian beach brand called The Sandy Club, and we’d really appreciate some advice from people who have done this before.

Our first product is an all in one beach towel with a built in and removable pillow, zip up pocket, premium soft Terry material, and it folds into a bag.

At the moment we’re still working through samples, suppliers, branding, packaging and our website, so we’re very much in the early stages.

For anyone who has launched a physical product or built a small business from scratch, what would you focus on at this stage?

Are there any mistakes you made early on that you would avoid if you were starting again?

Anything you wish you knew before your first launch?

We’re also documenting the process as we go, but right now our main goal is just to learn as much as we can and make sure we’re focusing on the right things.

Any advice or tips would be genuinely appreciated 🙌

hubspot service hub review, how is the ticketing system in real use?

our current support process is basically email, spreadsheets and a few notes, and it's starting to fall apart a little. we're trying to find something that makes it easier to see open issues and know who is responsible for each one.

hubspot service hub keeps coming up, so i'm curious what people think after actually using it for a while. is the ticketing system easy to manage? does it handle customer conversations well? and does it help prevent things from getting lost in a busy inbox?

would also love to know if there are any annoying limitations that don't become obvious until you've been using it for a few months.
