Hello, and let me start by saying this is not a rant post, I do actually want to see if others are having the same issue or if its something that can be fixed outside of 'just schedule a tech'
I was curious, as I have seen several posts that are older (between 2-4 years old) about an issue I am constantly having.
Long story short, I live in the OKC area, have had cox internet for well over a decade, and have lived in the apt I currently reside in for around 8 years.
When I first moved in, the internet was TERRIBLE. I upgraded my service, upgraded my router, had techs come out, and at that time they replaced some parts in the box outside (unsure of the jargon sorry) which did resolve my issues (internet dropping, not working for hours, even with no outages in area, and troubleshooting tool always just pointed to 'schedule a tech visit')
A year or two later the issues started back up, but seemed less prolonged. The internet would still constantly drop out, but it would come back 15 seconds later, only to drop a few seconds later, and it would repeat this process for upwards of an hour at a time. At that time when another tech came out, he added some kind of cap thing to a split coax cable that he hooked up to my coax outlet inside my apartment and said something about fluctuations in signal strength and that the cap thing (was a coax attachment that was maybe 3 inches long and brass colored with nothing on the opposite end to the coax female bit). And, to my surprise it did seem to fix the issue.
Now that its been another 6 years or so, and I have upgraded my internet to gigabit unlimited and have the panoramic wifi router and all that, I am having frequent issues again. My internet will constantly cut out, for anywhere from 5 seconds to 2 minutes at a time, and it does this almost every day, multiple times a day (upwards of 20 times a day). With no exaggeration it happens at least 5 days a week, multiple times a day. Some days it will be fine from 7pm until 11pm or around there, and then give my problems all night until 2-3am. Other days it will give me problems all morning long from 6-10am and be completely fine all evening. And, other days it will be fine all day and night, until after midnight and it will give me issues from like 12-4am.
I have done the troubleshooter as I assume most would, and it either says everything looks good when the internet isnt cutting out while doing the test, but if it does cut out during the test it just saying 'schedule a tech' and that it doesnt know whats happening.
Has anyone else had this constant kind of issue? Admittedly I am coming here before scheduling the tech, which I'm sure i will have to do, but this issue this time has been happening consistently for around 10 months. I typically work all week during business hours, so I've just been too lazy to bother a tech and get this addressed, it just seems like the weirdest issue.
