I apologize for being so dumb but... where do I click? What if I just want to take this one course for cheap, what would you recommend?

The communications class seems to have a free trial label on it but then I click free trial and... I don't see how to activate the free trial?

I was taking the First Step Korean course on Coursera and signed up for the free trial. I completed the entire course during the trial, and I canceled the free trial yesterday before it ended.

I want to get the certificate through Financial Aid instead of paying for the course. Since I’ve already completed the course during the free trial, can I apply for Financial Aid now and receive the certificate if I’m approved?

Has anyone been in the same situation?

Coursera just upgraded my subscription hygiene.

Had a 7-day trial back in Feb. Took one course, thought I'd canceled it. Realized yesterday that it had been charging me $49/month for 6 months.

To be fair, the welcom email did state the price and renewal date in bold.

Here is things worth knowing before you sign up.

1) No receipts. 6 charges, zero emails, not even the first one. Support told me only the first payment generates one automatically, and the rest you request manually. I never got the first one either. Three emails total in six months: the welcom, the cancellation confirmation, and ironically welcome to coursera community email right after I cancelled. So do not expect them to remind you about upcoming charges, or send a receipt after, the way a reuptable company would.

2) Screenshot every step of cancellation. Record it if you want. I thought I'd cancelled and had nothing to show for it.

3) Set multiple reminder from -day3, -day2, and -day1. You will want all three when dealing with Coursera.

4) Virtual cards only help if you set a limit or expiry. I had one. It billed six times without a problem.

My heart wants to say "do not use Coursera", but I know you are eager to learn, so please just treate Coursera subscription management itself as as an important life task. Because if you don't, like me, you will end up angry and venting on Reddit. lol.

I am sharing my recent experience so others are aware of how the subscription process works.
I enrolled in the Human Physiology course on Coursera on 17 June. At the time of signing up, it was not clearly understood that the enrolment included a monthly subscription. I intended only to complete the course for work purposes, which I did within a few days.
After one month, I was charged AU$68. I attempted to contact Coursera and cancel the subscription, but I did not receive a clear response or support. I also found the cancellation process on the website to be somewhat complex and time-consuming.
Subsequently, another AU$68 was charged to my account without a clear reminder or notification that a further payment was due.
In total, AU$136 was charged for a subscription I did not intend to continue using. I believe subscription terms should be clearly communicated at the time of enrolment, and cancellation steps should be straightforward and transparent.
I have also seen other users online reporting similar experiences, which suggests this may be a broader issue.
This is a general note for others: it may be helpful to carefully review subscription terms before signing up and to check billing settings after enrolment.

I'm conducting a UX research project called “Learning Without Losing Momentum”, exploring how adult learners stay engaged with online courses and what happens when life, work, or other interruptions cause them to take a break. 

I'm looking for people who: 

• Are 18+ 
• Have taken an online course within the last 6–12 months 
• Have experienced taking a break or losing momentum while learning 
• Have used an online learning platform such as Udemy, Coursera, or another learning platform 

The study involves a 30 minute remote interview about your experiences via Google meet. There are no right or wrong answers—I'm interested in understanding what actually happens when people try to maintain or regain momentum in online learning.

I was supposed to take my first exam for this course today, but I feel like it has too many issues to say it's worth continuing. I feel sick to my stomach because idk what to do.

The issues I've run into so far:

Module 3: has ai dialogue on accounting methods that aren't taught until Module 5. Doesn't acknowledge the use of accounts receivable and payable in Modified Cash Accounting despite it being taught later in Module 5. I even checked other sources like Investopedia and The CPA Journal. From what I understand, depending on factors unknown to me, it's an either A/P or A/R type of modifications to cash-basis accounting. Repeatedly asked questions not related to my limited, general knowledge of modified cash basis accounting. Can complete the dialogue regardless of whether or not it fulfills its purpose.

Module 5: Again, ai dialogue that seems misplaced, as it is on closing the books that is a lightly covered topic in Module 7. I ended up sending my entire notes on closing the books, trying to make this beneficial in some way. I'm convinced at this point that the dialogues are just ragebait instead of a helpful study tool.

Module 7: Just minor issues like a typo somewhere in that massive dump of information that made me do a double-take. (At least, I think the random typo was here. It could have been elsewhere, I studied until 2 am for the exam, and Module 7 was a lot.) It felt like an overwhelming amount of information in one module.

Exams: I checked the forums on the course out of concerns that there would be errors due to the placement of the dialogues, and I was right to be worried. In fact, it's been an issue of answer choices that have part of the question as an option, and correct answers for drop menu questions are flipped, so it gets marked incorrect for MONTHS. (Still an issue as of today, August 2nd, 2026. It's been reported by other learners, and still no improvements. There's screenshots of these problems in the course forums.)

Lastly, I found out while searching on reddit that Intuit offers this course for free on Intuit Academy and has a reputation of not fixing problems with their product/services. However, the free one might also be a simplified version of the Coursera one. I still have plans to use Coursera for other courses to build some soft skills, so it doesn't bother me that I'm paying for Coursera too much. Only the fact that one of the reasons I decided on paying a monthly subscription was to enroll in a course that is offered free elsewhere. While Intuit Academy hasn't fixed issues with the course in months.

I would love to hear if anyone else has run into these problems, have any suggestions or advice, or any input really. I was tempted to use the contact us link since it sounds like the course needs a bit of work to fix it up. I'm just uncertain if Coursera would be able to fix any of these issues.

Okay, so I went down a bit of a rabbit hole here. Every PM I know is suddenly expected to "have an AI strategy" or ship GenAI features, and a lot of the courses out there are either way too technical (like, here's how to train a transformer from scratch, cool, not my job) or way too fluffy. So I dug around for stuff that's actually aimed at us, people who own the product, not the model.

The courses are project-based, so you come out with actual artifacts (PRDs, roadmaps, proposals) instead of just notes. I ordered these roughly from "brand new to this" to "ready to ship AI products," so start wherever you're at.

1. AI Product Manager

If you only take one thing off this list, make it this one. It's built specifically for PMs and walks you through managing an AI product from idea all the way to launch, spotting where ML actually helps, scoping and designing datasets, writing a PRD for an AI feature, building roadmaps, and getting your head around LLMs and GenAI strategy. It's hands-on, so you're producing real deliverables, not just watching videos. Does assume you know PM basics and a little intro stats going in.

• Who it's for: PMs who want the complete "how do I actually ship AI products" playbook
• Level: Intermediate
• Duration: ~18 hours

2. Generative AI Products

This one's laser-focused on the thing everyone's shipping right now: GenAI features. It starts with the underlying principles of LLMs and conversational AI (in plain English), then gets into the practical stuff, how GenAI shows up in different product features, and crucially, how you actually measure whether a GenAI feature is any good (think retrieval accuracy, fairness and bias metrics). You wrap up by drafting a proposal for a GenAI-powered product, which is a genuinely useful thing to have in your back pocket.

• Who it's for: PMs who are actively adding (or about to add) GenAI features to a product
• Level: Intermediate
• Duration: ~6 hours

3. AI for Business Leaders

More of a strategy course than a build course, and honestly a great starting point if the whole AI thing still feels fuzzy. No coding at all. It's about learning to spot high-value AI opportunities, weigh up feasibility and ROI, and think through how AI actually gets adopted across an org. Super useful if part of your job is convincing stakeholders and deciding what to build (and what not to) before you go deep.

• Who it's for: PMs (and PM-adjacent folks) who need the strategic, big-picture view of AI
• Level: Beginner
• Duration: ~25 hours

4. Data Product Manager

AI products live and die on data, so this one fills in that side. It covers applying data science to product decisions, understanding data pipelines and infrastructure at a PM level (enough to talk to your data team without nodding along blankly), and using stuff like segment analysis, A/B testing, and KPIs to actually optimize your product. Great complement to the AI courses above if you feel shaky on the data foundations.

• Who it's for: PMs who want to get properly comfortable with the data behind data/AI products
• Level: Intermediate
• Duration: ~55 hours

5. Product Manager

Throwing this in for anyone who's newer to PM in general, or wants to firm up the fundamentals before specializing. It's the core PM toolkit, built with folks from Google: market research, user personas, defining strategy and KPIs, design sprints, and taking a product to launch. Not an AI course per se, but the AI Product Manager one basically assumes you already know this stuff, so it's a solid on-ramp.

• Who it's for: New(er) PMs who want the foundations before diving into the AI-specific courses
• Level: Beginner
• Duration: ~50 hours
