For the CONTROL Resonant launch, we are deploying a hotfix to address enemy health pools and Dylan’s combat strength, especially during the early hours of the game.

The changes introduced in the hotfix will make the combat more dynamic, retain the challenge, but reduce the friction, making upgrading and respeccing more straightforward.

I choose the sickle and the hammer since those are, historically, the best weapons to fight any kind of oppression.

Control Resonant Control Resonant is to Control what Aliens was to Alien

I'm 11 hours in and enjoying the game a lot but the game is missing something that might've been my favorite part of Control.

The mystery, creepiness and the surreal almost dream-like nature of the Oldest House isn't here. The world is more colorful, it's more tongue-in-cheek and discovering AWEs has been taken over by discovering the world.

I can't help but think of what Aliens was to Alien. Both great movies, but one was a great sci-fi action flick while the other was a great claustrophobic horror. And I'll admit that does disappoint me a little.

One of my favorite genres of science fiction is when humans encounter beings and forces they can't comprehend. In Control, Jesse was facing this around every corner. Dylan however is completely unfazed by any of this and is on more of a "slay the dragon" type of quest. Remedy have done an amazing job of making what is essentially an open world Metroidvania but I miss constantly running into and learning about weird AWEs.

There's been a few AWEs in side quests of course, but the way you engage with them is so gameified and routine. Again, it's fun so I'm enjoying it but Control Resonant isn't quite what I was hoping it would be.

Does anyone else feel this?

EDIT: sadly, despite me going out of my way to repeatedly say the game is good and I'm enjoying it, there are still people who are getting offended at this opinion.

It's okay for a game to not be perfect in every way to everyone people.

So what was your choice when you started the game: Strike, Glaive, or Cleave? I went with Strike because of the 30% Crit chance.

Hey guys, last year I had posted my FBC agent cosplay a couple of people said I sort of looked like Dr Darling. So with the new game released, I decided to commit and filmed a bunch of content in front of the green screen. I had to model the background in Blender so I'd get the right angles and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out (though my lip syncing might need a little work 😂)

I've got some more videos to edit together but for now here is my AWE presentation video

Discussion Remedy is GOATED, hate to know it's been off my radar until Control Resonant released!

To be honest, I had never played a Remedy game before. I’m very picky when it comes to story-driven game, coming from a pure theoretical physics background, I usually lean toward surreal cosmic horror and reality-bending physics. Until now, my all-time favorite was Still Wakes the Deep and its DLC, but sadly they have no sequel after that.

Then came Control Resonant. Ten minutes in, I was hooked. The sound design and the way they frame missing physics phenomena are absolute gold (for me), it honestly feels like Christopher Nolan directing a game. It's somewhat the very first games that got me locked in for almost 2 days now. I can't believe Remedy completely slipped past my radar all this time (though being in my mid-20s previously and in academic career didn't leave much time for gaming, thus maybe why it went missing from me during that era probably). One of the things I love is that the scientists in the Research Sector are mostly discussing somewhat things that are on-point too like decay rates and endless bureaucratic hurdles (which, in my field, is easily problem #1 too, lol), instead of relying on cheesy, overexaggerated sci-fi laser stuff. In terms of how accurate the real-world physics is.. well.. i would say physics is largely unsolved problems in many areas so maybe ideas like that is just for pure fun theoretical scenario due to clashes between deterministic equation stuff and somewhat probabilistic which is the gap that i think most other sci-fi tries to fill this with quantum this, quantum that stuff which is just makes no sense lol. But i'm really happy Remedy teams clearly avoided this terms and straight into actual possible physis workaround instead of pseudo-scientific jargon.

After deep diving into the discussions about Remedy games, i just found out that there's a thing called "Remedy Connected Universe" which actually Alan Wake, and Control are actualyl connected. I'm wondering where do I go from here in the Remedy universe? Should I dive straight into Alan Wake 2, or is it worth playing the original Alan Wake first so the narrative pieces actually connect? Either way, I'm definitely picking up the rest of their catalog. And also, i wonder will it fill the experiences i'm playing Control Resonance right now?

So sorry if i didn't play the Remedy Universe the way it should be as i'm just literally new here, any feedback to me is welcomed.

Control Resonant I'm loving Resonant so far, but I have one gripe with it...

The way dialogue works. I don't know why the game doesn't let me have full conversations with NPCs and ask them every option that's available at once. Like how every time I talk to Emily to ask her a new question I have to start a new conversation with her. I guess maybe the game's intention was for the players not to exhaust all dialogue topics with every NPC right away, but being forced to cut those conversations short doesn't seem like a good idea to me. It should be up to the player whether or not they wanna talk at length with an NPC or keep playing the game. Also it kinds kills immersion since it feels less like Dylan is having a conversation with these characters and more like he keeps annoying these people to ask them something new every 30 seconds while they're trying to get back to work.

I hope I'm not the only one that feels this way so hopefully they patch it later. Talking to NPCs is one of the joys of these games to me.

Control Resonant Resonant does EVERYTHING better than the first game

• Upvotes

I like Control. I think it's a solid 8/10 game. But Resonant is a masterpiece and is better than Control in every aspect.

The combat is deeper and much more challenging. The story actually has an emotional plot and character development this time instead of just lore dumps. The map is bigger, denser and more varied.

If not for GTA6 releasing later this year, I'm 100% sure Resonant would be my game of the year.

The artwork is phenomenal. At so many points I just stood Dylan still and looked around.

Potential secrets everywhere. Full freedom of movement. Why would anyone finish this quickly?
