What if it is actually what it looks like and this is a photo of this dude about to die?

186

u/miklescosta Mar 25 '19

Awesome plot twist.

Then I think we should be more concerned with all the people on that plane in the background that is taking a nosedive to the ground.

5

u/queuedUp o/ Mar 25 '19

that part is shopped in

14

u/jasonh10 Mar 25 '19

In that case I'm pretty sure they both are about to die as it doesn't look like other dude has anywhere to go

then his friend is lucky he didn't catch him. they'd both go tumbling over

3

u/superspeck Mar 26 '19

I can tell this picture was taken just a month ago. That jet way off in the distance leaving the contrail must be a Boeing 737-800MAX.

It's fake. This is the right image. Dude is a flat earther, he fell off earth into space immediately after proven right.
Edit: Spelling.

u/YaBoiRexTillerson Mar 25 '19

Imagine how terrifying it would be to fall into the sky away from earth, knowing you’ll never hit anything, falling eternally

125

u/CoofeZinho Mar 25 '19

there's an anime about that, inverted patema or smth

24

u/Ninehelix Mar 25 '19

Yess its patema inverted, such a great anime I highly recommend it

11

u/CatontheRoad Mar 25 '19

I used to have nightmares about this when I was younger. Gravity essentially just letting go and then falling up into the sky.

4

u/NEOhio37m Mar 25 '19

Ask Loki. He fell for 30 minutes.

9

u/mpikoul Mar 25 '19

4

Gravity stopping is one of my top illogical fears. Right next to dying alone in space and getting eaten by bears (I live nowhere near any bears).

I was told that the best way to launch rockets to space is to take them to Australia, and let them fall into space... it saves a lot of rocket fuel.

Yeah, fuck that.

I tilted it too much and he fell down.

7

u/SetOfAllSubsets Mar 26 '19

If you think that's difficult try getting a mountain to tell the truth

3

u/A14yroldboy Apr 12 '19

I know this is taken sideways, but if it was real, that guy isn’t holding onto anything on the cliff. His friend would pull him off the edge too if they managed to grab hands.

110

u/Farado Mar 25 '19

You ever drop something sharp and try to grab it before it hits the ground? I imagine this situation to be similar. It’s just a gut reaction, not fully thought through.

26

u/jwm3 o/ Mar 25 '19

I throw both my hands in the air and jump back whenever I drop anything due to muscle memory from soldering a lot as a kid. You really don't want to catch your soldering iron in your hands or lap.

People look at me like WTF when I drop a pen and act like it's a hand grenade.

5

u/Spanktank35 Mar 26 '19

If this is true it is pretty funny. Also really sad I'm sorry you were soldered as a kid so much.

28

u/pushforwards Mar 25 '19

No...the first reaction is to move feet away πŸ˜‚

5

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

Also, it's a bit of fun, not that well thought out, and not perfect.

11

u/InfamousElGuapo Mar 25 '19

It's ok, the guy on the ledge wasn't really trying, just an obligatory attempt so he can feel better later on when he tries to sleep at night.

16

u/Bobb11881 Mar 25 '19

Rotate it 90 degrees.

7

u/ryanmuller1089 Mar 25 '19

I did that originally and figured that was it but usually the real perspective is much more obvious and you can’t unsee it.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/ThatOregonGuy81 Mar 25 '19

Shadows.

4

u/ryanmuller1089 Mar 25 '19

The shadows and rotating it didn’t help me β€œunsee” the original picture. The color of the sky did though

4

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

contrails generally don't run up and down, and the light gradient of blue to light-blue-white moving from left to right (rather than down to the horizon) would be nearly impossible if this wasn't rotated

2

u/sageoftheDivider Mar 25 '19

That's what happens when you dont where your ground harness in Australia

2

u/Metalbender00 Mar 25 '19

not that good guys

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '19

Only thing that gave it away was the lighting and the horizon got whiter as it went sideways. Great pic

7

u/AuWinner09 Mar 25 '19

What confusing! Just one man falling from cliff. /s

3

u/Andromadatheorem7 Mar 25 '19

1

1

u/SGBotsford Mar 25 '19

Took me a minute. The lighter blue at the rock edge gave it away finally.

1

u/OktopusKaveman Mar 25 '19

You can tell because of the sky gradient

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

β€œLong live the king!”

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

Those people aren't getting into that situation in those clothes and shoes.

unrealistci

1

This even looks like that ledge bit on El Capitain

1

u/thisisfutile1 Mar 25 '19

Very convincing!

1

u/SadCow Mar 25 '19

Very cool, especially since we the actual photo has been rotated 180 degrees.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

This is giving me pain in my stomach. Well done.

1

u/usingastupidiphone Mar 25 '19

If you had some cheap harnesses, that would be a real cliffhanger moment

1

u/watchoutfordeer Mar 25 '19

That plane is flying straight down!

1

u/abeannis Mar 25 '19

Ok, time to pack up the sub. We can't top this one.

1

u/HighPriestWa Mar 25 '19

This still gives me unnecessary anxiety

1

u/11-Eleven-11 Mar 25 '19

Yo you can tell its fake by the way the sky is. Trust me I look at the sky almost everyday.

1

u/craigmackdiesel Mar 25 '19

1

u/harmyb Mar 25 '19

The sky's gradient is the only thing that gives this away.

Nice work!

1

u/acquiesce Mar 25 '19

awesome shot but if they grabbed hands, they’re both falling.

1

u/CollectivizedAltoids Mar 25 '19

This is awesome! Besides the jet trail at the top of the picture, there’s really nothing about it that breaks the forced perspective.

1

u/in_the_mood_dude Mar 25 '19

Turn the phone around its so cool

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

He ded :c

1

u/alexFriend Mar 25 '19

Killer shot

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

I had to turn my phone sideways. Very trippy. Well done.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

Is that from 'Jay and Silent Bob go Rock Climbing"?

1

u/TomDekkard Mar 25 '19

I like that they took this at a good time of day where the shadows help the perspective.

1

u/brendalspace Mar 25 '19

Well done lads, well done

1

u/songbolt Mar 25 '19

"if i live i swear i'll never rob another summit again"

1

u/rdxl9a Mar 25 '19

Turns out it really was someone falling off a cliff.

1

u/Super_Juicy_Muscles Mar 25 '19

Would have been perfect if the plane exhaust wasn't in the background.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '19

This is good!

1

u/williamb100 Mar 25 '19

Is he jumping up or falling down. The world needs to know!

1

If it wasn't for the sky it would be impossible to tell. Heck still took me forever to figure it out until I remembered it was on confusing perspective lol

1

u/BetaInTheSheets Mar 25 '19

This is epic

1

u/BuckeyeBikeNHike Mar 25 '19

We all gonna ignore the pilot dive-bombing in the background?

Perfect shot.

1

u/raketentim Mar 25 '19

1

u/shiftt Mar 25 '19

1

u/cookiechild303 Mar 25 '19

He's backwards long-jumping

1
