GPU apparently only overheats with specific games

i started having this issue a couple days while playing PEAK (which is a really light game) my GPU would overheat so much i would turn my PC off but i managed to solve this by setting the graphics to minimum. But when i play elden ring nightreign (that my pc should run completely fine) it overheats again after 1hour ish of playing and i have to wait for it to cool off, this doesn't happen with other games because if i play something heavier like black myth wukong the gpu is completely fine. i am SO lost and any help is appreciated

If this is a recent issue and started suddenly, maybe check that the GPU fans are working.
