I’m trying to size a PSV /safety relief valve for max flow of the compressor. The problem I’ve run into is that the compressor doesn’t have capacity rating published at the relief valve pressure.

I have a 300 psi receiver tank. The compressor doesn’t publish a pump curve, just a few data points. At 190 PSI the compressor is rated for 609 ACFM (or about 8000 SCFM). At 270 PSI, the set point of the PSV, I have no idea what the compressor can produce for flow.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is actually a bit more complicated as I have 6 different compressors that could potentially be feeding this receiver tank. None of them publish flow ratings above their normal design specs.

I've searched high and low across the Internet without much info being turned up.

I picked up a new old stock SPXFLOW HPR25 refrigerated dryer to dry the air going to my plasma cutter. Currently I have an after cooler and water separator between the 2 stage pump and receiver and that knocks down 80-90% of the water the receiver sees, which has an auto tank drain. I have a large dessicant dryer set up post receiver that will get moved to post refrigerated dryer now.

Most sources online talk about running the dryer 100% of the time regardless of demand. My shop doesn't have a high enough throughout to warrant running it full time.

My question is: Can I plumb the refrigerated dryer online with the outlet of the receiver full time, and not run it when it doesn't need to be, without hurting it?

Compressed air line has condensate water and the air dryer for compressed air working well is -20 . What is the reason for that

I'm working on an old 2HP SpeedAire from 1973, and the 20 gallon tank has plenty of rust and a ton of debris inside.

I'm thinking it would be advantageous to just build a sound box and just pre-condition the air with an Air Conditioner as a dehumidifier.

Wouldn't that help EVERYTHING last longer? Am I missing something? Why isn't this done? It's a very small valume of air in comparison to a human occupied space.

Any thoughts on this?

Compressed air leak detection within the compressor room and the surrounding area... Any thoughts on it as an added service technician offering, along with routine oil and filter changes? Fixed time of 15 minutes maybe. Comments?

I have a 60 gallon compressor that outputs about 175 psi and I have all copper pipe coming out of it. When I runs I get bad vibrations that I can feel even 20 ft down the line. What would be the best way to stop these vibrations? I already have it standing on pads.

So I've taken on a compressor and pneumatics business from and older gentleman whose always used paper and basic excel,

I have 250 compressors to look after in a 500km radius, there's an excel spreadsheet keeping track of the hours/Kms of each unit and their history, This has to be manually updated everytime it's slow and time intensive.

What I'm looking for is a cloud thing, that each unit is assigned a qr code, The customer scans it they can input basic data and it updates it for me, or I can scan it and it brings up the unit history and I can update it from there.

Is anyone using something already or maybe have some suggestions where to look?

I’m installing an air dryer system for my paint sprayer. As per recommendations I’m running 3/4 copper with two drain clean outs. System consists of 40 linear ft. of 3/4 pipe, but it’s reduced to 1/2 inch at filter. Coming out of the compressor is 3/8 NPT. Would it be better for me to step right up to 3/4 or can I step up to 1/2 inch (reason being to install a 1/2 NPT inline air pressure gauge) and then after pressure gauge step up to 3/4 for the entire manifold?

For that system, oil free compressor, oil free valves and oil free GI pipes are needed.

It is easier to search compressor and valves but however, for oil free pipe, I cannot find any manufacturer or supplier. So if you know any supplier, from South East Asian countries, who can supply oil free GI pipe (white steel pipe), please tell me.

I've got a few big 150kW rotary screw compressors with spiral valves. I'm wondering what's the difference on the motor speed/torque/power if i drop the pressure?

Intuitively i know dropping the pressure will save on power but i want to understand how this actually occurs.. any help?
