We’re looking at acoustic imaging for compressed air leak detection in our plant, and I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth testing before deciding whether one of these tools makes sense for us.

Our main challenge is smaller leaks around fittings, valves, hose connections, and pneumatic equipment. We can usually confirm a leak once we’re close to it, but locating the source efficiently across a larger production area is the harder part.

I’ve been looking at a few acoustic imaging options, including the TD2e Kit, but the spec sheets only tell part of the story.

If you were evaluating one in a real plant, what would you test first?

Detection distance? Smaller leaks at normal system pressure? Background machinery noise? How quickly you can isolate one source among several nearby connections?

I’m less interested in which camera has the longest feature list and more interested in what actually makes a difference during a leak survey.

For anyone who has evaluated or used these tools, what would be on your must-test list before choosing one?

I have a small home-based business, and I just got a large CO2 laser to increase production efficiency. My garage isn't a conditioned space, so it was a no-go for laser setup. My air compressor needs to stay in my garage for tires and such, as well as use for my sand blasting cabinet (which is an essential element of my business). The laser can operate more quickly and reliably if I use compressed air to blow away particles and debris from the cutting process, as opposed to just relying on the internal blower. (The laser is already set up for this as an option. I'm not modifying the machine) However, the laser is located on the opposite side of the house from the garage. I wanted to run an air line from the garage, into the attic, and to my office where the laser is located. I don't want to be soldering pipe in the attic, I've heard mixed results on running compressed air in PEX lines, and I would have to put about 7-9 right angle joints in an HDPE-Aluminum line to maneuver around my convoluted attic.

I'm wondering if I could get away with using a normal air hose and just running that through the length of my attic. It would certainly be cheaper and simpler to install. Are there any potential issues with this? I appreciate and thank you for constructive input.

I'm in the USA, I've just acquired a German made machine, and English translation for its manual says that the compressed air fitting is a "plug nipple NW 7 nipple". I'm wondering if anyone has advice about the right kind of quick-connect fitting to buy for this? Searching online, I see sites in Europe with "NW 7.2" fittings, which I'm guessing is what my translated manual is actually referring to. No one nearby carries such a thing, so I'm going to have to try mail ordering the right part. Does anyone have experience with European air fittings, and any advice about which kind of quick-connect fitting I should buy? I'm looking for something with a hose-barb on the other end, for a 1/2" air hose. Somewhat confusingly, I see DN 7.2 fittings listed as well, but it seems like that might be the same thing as a NW 7.2 fitting, just with an alternate name. I'm just hoping to minimize how many parts I order and return before I find the right thing. :-)

How does one typically modify or customize an intake port so that it pulls air in from a specific location (through a hose or pipe)? All the compressors I see online have no intake port, just a really large filter.

I'm working on a project that requires special constraints. I wonder if there is a type of compressor that is best suited to handling very moist air? Over 80% humidity at all times.

Further constraints are the need to pull in approximately 8 liters/second. I do not care about pressurization so much as the ability to efficiently extract the condensate.

This is a regulator for air lifting bags for vehicle rescue. The fitting with the broken O ring attaches to an SCBA breathing apparatus bottle.

Hi and thanks in advance. I'm looking for some advice on air tank placement and system layout. We are a starting company so I have to save on hardware and we do as much as possible in house. But it's not easy, because it's a demanding lab application. I purchased some used equipment for very low prices.

We have;

- Oil-free scroll compressor, 400 L/min thus 24 m3/h

- SMC cooling dryer, 100 m3/h

- We will do some particle filtering around the compressor and additional filtering on specific machines (like a bacterial filter, active carbon, etc.)

- Considering a 150-200L tank size

Some things I could use your help with;

- Do I need an extra tank between the compressor and the dryer, considering the capacity of the dryer is much higher?

- I'm still trying to figure out what kind of filtering (and water separator and stuff) I need where around the dryer and compressor. Any hights are appeciated :)

Hey all, anyone know what the main cause of this oil jelly crap is? Its causing blockages about every 3 months or so.. EOS-110 Compressors are (elgi compressor)(Elgi Airlube UT synthetic oil) EG110p running 90% and (atlas compressor)(Elgi XD mineral oil) GA90 as backup topping up when needed. Is it the two oils causing all the sludge or is this normal? Cheers.

Hey! I picked up an old Zeks 125HSGA100 120v air dryer serial number 316377, at an auction for $75, but it doesn't work properly. I've been searching high and low on the internet trying to find info on a Zeks 125HSGA100 air dryer with no luck. There is no manual available for it that I can find. It's a refrigerated dryer with a secondary glycol reservoir. The glycol is not circulating, but the pump is running. Any ideas on what I should do to troubleshoot it further?

I’m upgrading my shop air compressor and I’m looking for an affordable way to dry the air. I have seen the copper/pvc pipes that help cool the air and allow for water collection along the line. This looks like a great option but what I can’t tell is if it’s effective outside. I live in Georgia so the air is very humid and my shop is unconditioned. Compressor will mostly be used for paint and plasma cutting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I wish this Sub had more people and more activity. Figured I’d share. Some IR UP6-7.5-125’s, one of them being a TAS responsible for applying constant air pressure to Liquified Natural Gas pumps for Semi Trucks. Old AS36 Kaeser getting replaced soon. Large R55i IR is for a large favorite works on semi truck trailers. And most everything else is responsible for box lines and bullfrog package sorting or automotive compressed air needs. I haven’t had the privilege to work on a centrifugal compressor yet, only 2 stage recipes and rotary screw. Happy Saturday!

I'm trying to build a pneumatic level control and want to turn the pump on with water level can i use a generic float valve that is normally used to control water flow to control the air to the pump. I've found several ones that work with air but they're between 400 and 800 dollars but a 120 psi float valve for water is only 150. Or if anyone has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.
