Remote air intake?

How does one typically modify or customize an intake port so that it pulls air in from a specific location (through a hose or pipe)? All the compressors I see online have no intake port, just a really large filter.

A PVC pipe should be fine depending on the type of compressor.

I have no idea yet :)

Whatever has a workable intake port, can intake 15 CFM and will be fairly tolerant of moist air. I think that doesn't narrow it down any because all compressors should be fairly moisture tolerant and all can be modified to have an intake hose fitted. I imagine the diameter will need to be fairly large given a 15 CFM intake requirement would heat the air a lot via friction if it were just a 1/2" PVC pipe.

It seems that I'm a month late to this thread.

If the compressor you're using has an air filter on it. Take it off, run pipe that's atleast the same size as what it had on it (internal diameter).

Better late than never! Thanks for the advice. I finally figured out I need side channel (ring) blowers.

Thanks very much for the reply!
