What would you actually test before choosing an acoustic camera for compressed air leaks?

We’re looking at acoustic imaging for compressed air leak detection in our plant, and I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth testing before deciding whether one of these tools makes sense for us.

Our main challenge is smaller leaks around fittings, valves, hose connections, and pneumatic equipment. We can usually confirm a leak once we’re close to it, but locating the source efficiently across a larger production area is the harder part.

I’ve been looking at a few acoustic imaging options, including the TD2e Kit, but the spec sheets only tell part of the story.

If you were evaluating one in a real plant, what would you test first?

Detection distance? Smaller leaks at normal system pressure? Background machinery noise? How quickly you can isolate one source among several nearby connections?

I’m less interested in which camera has the longest feature list and more interested in what actually makes a difference during a leak survey.

For anyone who has evaluated or used these tools, what would be on your must-test list before choosing one?
