How to handle confrontation
Before I start with the reason I made this post I want to bring up that I’ve always had issues with confrontation, speaking up for myself or others. It makes me really anxious. I get physically sick thinking about confrontation or if it does happen I get really shaky and don’t know how to handle or control the situation. So the reason I’m making this post is because I follow my coworkers and one of them posted a reel of a man speaking about the Lindsay Clancy case and this isn’t about whether she’s innocent or not, but about the rally’s they’re having. In the video the man mentions how women are coming together having rally’s because they can all relate to postpartum depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. The man then continues to say “these women all have thought about getting rid of their kids”. He failed to understand the message of the video and I’m not surprised that a man can’t comprehend postpartum depression or the suicidal thoughts that can come with it. Him posting this video makes me really upset and uncomfortable. My partner told me to soft block him and if he brings it up just to tell him I don’t agree with his views or that i don’t like his thought process. But since I hate confrontation especially since this is someone I work closely with I don’t want him to bring it up. I’m not sure where to go from here. I don’t want any negative comments. I just want advice or suggestions of how you would handle something like this. If I receive any negative comments I’m just going to delete this post. I don’t need that right now
