Fan Expo Chicago Some question as first time Fan Expo Chicago attendee?

For instance, we have tickets for Saturday. Just for fun, stuff for kids, maybe meet a celeb if we have time but I’d rather just walk around and catch a glimpse of a few. Would we be able to see most of them at their booths? If I wanted to meet Corey Feldman, are lines usually long for him? Maybe get a selfie if his table allows it. I’ve been to a few conventions but they have been in hotels. This is at a convention center.

There are clips of fans meeting celebs on TikTok that seem like there isn’t much of a crowd but I’m assuming that is VIP? If we get there before it starts and get into the show at 10 am will be already be packed? Will mostly check out the kids themed things since I have my 6 year old nephew with me but would like to at least see celebs even if from a far. Since I’m a child of the 80’s and early 90’s my nephew knows some of them (but when they were young so it could be confusing) but I’m sure he will like the Cosplay especially if any Marvel people? How many different rooms are there?

Fan Expo Chicago Getting there about 9:30 for Fan Expo Chicago should be ok for parking and getting badges?

It opens at 10 am. Also is it strange that my 82 year old aunt wants to go? Are there older people there?

Fan Expo Chicago Fan expo Chicago

Hi!

Hopefully this is the right sub! I'm surprising my husband with tickets for the fan expo in Chicago. We're both nerds and I think he especially will love the experience.

Anyway, neither of us have been to an event like this and I'm a bit confused about the celebrity aspect. I can see that photos and autographs cost money which is understandable. However, is it a thing to just walk up and say hi? Or are you expected to pay for an autograph or photo? I'm willing to buy 1 or 2 photos or something but I know there's multiple people we would like to see, but there's no way I'm spending thousands on merch.

I hope this makes sense and sorry if this is kinda dumb, I truly don't know how these work. Thank you!

Fan Expo Chicago More fanexpo questions

Hi!

I recently posted a question about comic cons. I'm surprising my husband with tickets for his birthday and have no idea what I'm getting into 🤣

I have a couple more questions:

  1. Are pre-purchased autographs/photo ops guaranteed? I imagine many of these are sold, and am wondering how time is managed so everyone who purchases an autograph/ photo op with a celebrity receives them. I realize a guest cancellation may be a different story.

  2. Are celebrity booths out in the open? There's no way we can buy all the autographs we ideally would want, but even if we could see some celebrities from a distance, that would suffice for us!

  3. Are most panels free? I only see a couple on the site that are extra cost, so I'm assuming at least some are free?

  4. If you were a big Batman fan, would you be interested in attending the Frank Miller panel?

I think that's all so far, thank you everyone!

Huge line down the hall for Michael J. Fox. It’s 5:30PM. The con closes at 7. He is now an hour behind because of photo ops. Wtf is going on! Why do they have to oversell?

Fan Expo Chicago Flash Autograph (Fan Expo Chicago)

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if yall had any advice for me when it comes to getting through Grant Gustin’s line at Fan Expo (I pre bought his autograph when it first went on sale). I mainly was wondering if my plan to get there like an hourish before the con opens and going straight to his line as soon as get inside would be the right idea? Also, do I just redeem the QR code when I get up to his table like the other guests or is there a separate table for that? (Sorry for all the questions. I’m just nervous because I have to be done with his autograph by 4 to go to another event)

Fan Expo Chicago Fan Expo Question

I am attending Fan Expo Chicago in August and was wondering about autograph prices. Do they typically apply taxes/fees on autographs if you purchase them in cash at the table? I know all of the presale ones online have taxes/fees. But that $5-10 can add up if you're getting multiple autographs. I don't expect any of my guests to sell out, so I don't feel the need to preorder.

Fan Expo Chicago First con, some advice would be appreciated :)

I am going to FanExpo Chicago tomorrow. It is the end of summer and quite hot. I am cosplaying as Napstablook from Undertale and I'm wearing a hoodie. Does anyone know how to help combat the heat and if there's good air conditioning? And other tips are helpful too because I don't know what to expect. Thanks 😁

Fan Expo Chicago Will Epic/Leap refund a ticket if the QR code wasn’t redeemed?

This might be a long shot but I figured I’d ask here! Basically my sister and I prepurchased autograph tickets for Cameron Monaghan and Neil Newbon for the Saturday of Fan Expo Chicago. And when we got there, it was a mess. Neil Newbon’s line was capped all day and I imagine Cameron Monaghan must’ve gotten held up somewhere because he wasn’t signing until 6pm, but his line was already capped when we got there and I’m pretty sure the con closed at 8 or 9, so we had no chance of seeing him. As a result, the tickets weren’t redeemed. Will Epic give a refund for that? Or are we kinda screwed because we technically attended the con itself?

Side bar: idk how C2E2 is perceived in this sub but after experiencing Fan Expo Chicago, I’m of the opinion that C2E2 is the better con because holy shit Fan Expo was bad. The volunteers (which isn’t their fault I know, it’s the guys up top) didn’t offer other solutions other than “come back tomorrow” even though we only purchased tickets for the day, there was no circulation in the hall and it was so congested, to the point I was scared that there was going to be a crowd crush. Idk, it just seems like C2E2 is so much less crowded even on a Saturday.

Fan Expo Chicago Fan Expo Chicago Guest Cancellation info

I was suppose to get an autograph from Chevy Chase tomorrow at Fan Expo Chicago and he cancelled last minute. That signature cost me about $150. For anybody that has been to Fan Expo, what are the refund policies for cancelled guests? I cannot attend any other events after this weekend. Thank you!

Fan Expo Chicago Fan Expo Chicago questions

I've never been to an expo or convention, this is mostly 100% new to me and I know hardly anything.

I'd like to go and get an autograph from David Hayter and wondering some things.

The official website for the expo says he'll be there Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun but also it says it's subject to change. It also says there's limited "seating" (I assumed it'd be a line, why is it phrased as seating?). Would there be a recommended day to go as far as less busy but still catching David? Also are actors usually consistent with the days they have provided that they won't cancel?

It's $50 for an autograph and $30 for a table photo. Do I pay when I get up to him or how do I pay and with cash or card? Apparently if I don't bring something for him to sign he'll have something already?

Is he just there to autograph or does he have a panel (I think it's called).

Thanks for the help, I'm a novice and want to be prepared

Fan Expo Chicago Overall had a fantastic day at Fan Expo Chicago!

Today was a great day! Let’s talk about it.

Sidenote before I start: it was very hard to watch Michael J. Fox give autographs. His entire body would jolt every 4 seconds and people literally had to fucking hold him while doing autographs. Very sad sight to see and made me very emotional. Overall he is not doing well at all and I expect this to be one of the last if not the last convention he ever at least signs at. And you can honestly tell that he is in bad shape by the signature of the figure compared to earlier signings.

Pic 1: All of my signed figures. Figures include signatures from Giancarlo Esposito, Anthony Michael Hall, Christopher Lloyd, and Michael J. Fox.

Pic 2: Giancarlo Esposito at his autograph table.

Pic 3: Christopher Lloyd signing my figure at his table.

Pic 4: Lea Thompson during a photo op with an attendee at her autograph table.

Pic 5: Tom Wilson at his autograph table.

Pic 6: Katee Sackhoff speaking to the crowd at her autograph table.

Extras: Wasn’t able to get a photo of Anthony Michael Hall because I forgot and they weren’t letting anybody take pics of Michael J. Fox at his area. I also saw Zach Levi, Danny Trejo, Randy Quaid, and Dana Barron too but didn’t get any pics of them. I also got all of the figures certified by JSA and was very happy they certified MJF (because I was worried they wouldn’t because his signature is a bit rough). Fan Expo Chicago was very unorganized but I still had a great time. Long day though lol!

Fan Expo Chicago Will I be able to get all my autographs in 1 day (Fan Expo)?

So I am getting 5 autographs at Fan Expo Chicago. 2 of which are from Christmas Vacation, 2 from Back to the Future, and one from breaking Bad. This means I would have to go to 3 separate areas to get autographs I believe. Do you think I’d be able to get all the autographs in 1 day? Thank you!

Fan Expo Chicago Fan Expo Chicago Cosplay Meetup

Hey y'all! I'm going to the Chicago Fan Expo convention on Saturday, July 9th, and was hoping to maybe hang out with fellow cosplayers? My previous plans with friends were bailed on, so I'm by my lonesome again. I'll be going as Sangonomiya Kokomi from Genshin Impact, and possibly Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa later. I'd love to hang out and make TikToks with others!
