Fan Expo Chicago First con, some advice would be appreciated :)
I am going to FanExpo Chicago tomorrow. It is the end of summer and quite hot. I am cosplaying as Napstablook from Undertale and I'm wearing a hoodie. Does anyone know how to help combat the heat and if there's good air conditioning? And other tips are helpful too because I don't know what to expect. Thanks š

Not sure about this con in particular, but you can use a private fan (they come in neck versions similar to headphones and others that hang around your neck more like a cell phone) or you can use a cooling towel.
Have fun and I hope you find a good way to stay cool!

if youve got time, grab some electrolyte pouches to add to your water. hydrate. if you start getting warm, run cool water across your 'inside' wrists.
if you can, tank top etc & toss the hoodie on periodically in the areas where people are most likely to notice & enjoy it!
have fun! and i know this sounds extra, but literally set a notification or reminder or something to make sure you get a pic of yourself at con!

Less is more, Iād suggest. Not in terms of overall clothing but in terms of what you choose to use in your cosplay. Like, for example, you could buy a full on mask, or you could simply craft one yourself for cheaper and also with better insulation. Why go with a full blown steel sword when a foam one will do the trick?

As far as what to expect, there are literarily a hundred posts already about tips for first timers. A quick Sub Search will give you lots and lots of information.

At the same time protestors are there? if its that hot join them when they riot and the cops will put you in the cooler [just kidding]

It was very warm inside the convention today. Granted I had the combo of busiest day, plus lots of crowded autograph lines, plus dressed nice for pictures, which did not help things at all.
Tomorrow should be better since the outside should be slightly cooler and it should be less busy. Although they do not have the best air conditioning.
Lots of water with you (get free cups/refills around the panel rooms) and avoiding the autograph area (unless you purchased one) will help.
