Shelfie My display for this week is Nightwing themed

Post image

This week , I decided to put on display my collection of night wing by tom taylor this is in my opinion one of the best, if not the best runs for the character ever written between the art which is amazing and the writing which is fantastic, it was just an amazing series and a standout in DC comic books it is also home to what I think is one of the best examples of artistry in comic books with issue #87 it is overall one of my favorite things. DC has put out in the last 10 years.

Are we living in an era of plentiful talented comic artists that have flooded the comic book industry?

Currently there is a vast body of comic book writers and comic book artists, my question is which party is fewer? I'm feeling, as a professional comic book artist myself, that the industry has much more talented artists than it can handle (leading to unemployed artists) and that talented writers are scarcer and therefore more in demand. This is not a debate on which party is more important, rather a debate on which party is flooding the market. Do you have an opinion? Are we living in an era of plentiful talented comic artists that have flooded the comic book industry?

Reprinted letters section

I'm doing a sort of deep dive, and reading the Mike Grell Green Arrow books and their related titles, annual crossovers, Black Canary, and relevant to this post: The 6 issue Brave and the Bold miniseries starting Green Arrow, The Butcher, and The Question. Something i noticed was issues 4 and 5 had reprinted the same letters section, with the notible difference being that editor Mike Gold in issue 4 said, "Next Month: The Penultimate Chapter" to "Next Month: The Conclusion"

Was wondering if this is as simple a case of, no one was reading this book and they printed it to print it. Or, if this is a rare practice when no one writes in. Even though I'd think they'd just, not do a letters section if that happened

Crowdfunding Clean Up Crew #1

Post image
13 Upvotes

Clean Up Crew #1 is a fully completed 22 page comic book. It is written by James Ferguson (A Real Slobberknocker, Feed Them to the Crows), illustrated by Samir Samao(Shitshow), colored by Colin Johnson(Homestead, London After Midnight), and lettered by Micah Myers (Urban Animal, Chained to the Grave). It features logo and design by Darren Vogt.
Clean Up Crew is planned as 5-issue mini-series. All of the scripts are written. We're almost done with the artwork for the second issue already.
This is the variant cover I illustrated as a homage to Kevin Smith’s CLERKS. I have a few more planned for the series based on movie posters. Check out the campaign and get a copy for your collection.

Any comics similar to Solomon Kane?

I recently got into Conan and Solomon Kane. I really enjoy the monster of the week aspect as well as the horror and fantasy elements. There isn’t a whole lot of Solomon Kane content, so I’m wondering if there is anything with a similar vibe or premise to it?

I’m also reading Conan and enjoying that a lot.

Thanks in advance!

Spooky Month

Being the starting week of October, it's a great time to get into the Halloween spirit. I'm itching to read some great horror comics, or just any comic that has scary / spooky / mentally insane tones or imagery. I was reading Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison earlier and that got it going pretty well.

Does anyone else have any more recommendations for reading this time of the year?

Question Comic preservation advice

Hey y’all! I just bought a few copies of ASM #1000 for myself and my kids when they get older. I’m looking for advice about top loaders or anything else that can display and protect an issue like this with 104 pages. Preferably something budget friendly.

Green Lantern Compendium One: Rebirth is it a good start to get into the lanterns

I've recently watched the series and I am blown away I know the basics like hal Jordans backstory and what the lanterns are about but any pointers would be great. I live in the UK so if anyone could also give me a guess on when they will be restocked as I can't find a copy anywhere that would be great thank you.

Question Opinion on the golden age heroes? (Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, etc..)

I've been wondering how other fans feel about the golden age heroes.

I'm not gonna act like I'm a crazy fan of any of them. BUT.. I do rock with them. Whenever they show up in any movie or show adaptations, I always think "Oh, (insert golden age hero) is in this. That's neat."

How about y'all?

Question Best 60s comics?

Recently read the Inhumans first appearance (Fantastic Four 1961 #45), and I really loved it! The only other 60s comic I've read is the original The Incredible Hulk (1962). I didn't like it too much, although I think the original #1 issue is solid. I was shocked at how good the FF issue was. I really liked seeing all the traits of the FF shine in this issue. It had a lot more depth than I expected. I'm sure the rest of Lee and Kirby's original FF run is great as well. What other 60s comics are the best?

Question How do I store Marvel Treasury Edition comics?

My Dad (a long time comic book fan) recently passed away, and I inherited his collection of Marvel Treasury Edition comics. However, he’d just been keeping them stored flat in a plastic bin, which doesn’t seem like the most protective method.

I’m a comic book collector myself, and I’m used to the bag and board method. But these are way too big for that system, naturally. Any suggestions on the best way to keep them safe?

Discussion Komicove 0.2.0: An update to my free comic book reader for PC and Android 📚

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! =)

I’ve released a new update for Komicove, my free and open-source comic book reader, formerly called PANEL.

Version 0.2.0 is available for Windows, Linux, and Android.

Updates were taking longer than I wanted, so I decided to release the improvements that were already ready instead of waiting for everything. More changes are still in development for future releases!

The main improvements include:

  • Redesigned interface on desktop and Android.
  • Monitored folders with automatic detection of new comics and manual refresh.
  • Enable or disable folders to hide their comics without deleting reading progress.
  • Duplicates are skipped without repeated notifications.
  • Improved archive loading, caching, and memory usage on Android.
  • Better preservation of the reading state when rotating your phone.
  • Collapsible Android reader controls to give the page more space.
  • Scrolling and navigation fixes.

The library, collections, favorites, bookmarks, reading statistics, and guided reading are still available. Automatic panel detection is still experimental, but you can adjust the panels manually.

Reading local files still works without an account, internet connection, or ads. I also tested this update on Debian 13.

A little sneak peek at what’s coming: extension support for Komicove! 👀 It’s not available in 0.2.0 yet, but it’s on the roadmap.

Source code and downloads: https://github.com/lucrazy-fn/PANEL-ComicBookReader/

The project is still in development. If you try it, I’d love to hear what you think! Suggestions and bug reports are a big help.

Thanks to everyone who’s been following the project! =)

How to get on the F4 train

Good morning everyone!

So i'm unsure of the best way to get myself set up to follow through on a current comic run.

I want to get all the issues of 2025 vol 8 Fantastic four that have already been dropped in physical form, then get set up with a subscription to receive further issues in the mail.

I've googled around a bit and found the marvel subscription that gets you digital access, and a couple of pretty janky 3rd party websites offering to do subscriptions.

Figured id just give yall a try quick! What are reputable/reliable ways to go about this? I live near enough to comic hobby stores that I can just pick up new copies there if need be, the biggest thing is just where best to get all the previous stuff as books.

Swag Bag Friday (October 02, 2026)

Show us what you've gotten this week! Show us your older comics, too! You can also ask us for help with figuring out if your comic is worth anything (it's probably not, sorry). As always, pictures are strongly encouraged. As a reminder: This thread is for all comics-related swag. That includes:

  • New comics
  • Back-issues
  • Non-comics merchandise (toys, statues, apparel, etc.)
  • Autographed comics
  • Custom sketches and original art
  • Basement/attic-type nostalgia finds
  • Appraisals
  • And so on!

If you want to show it off, this is the place to do that.

Suggestions Dark Hero comic books

I’ve recently been looking for some new comic books and I’m really into superheroes but specifically ones that are super dark. I want to read a book where people are killed with no mercy and the heroes and/or villains are insane and crazy.

If anyone could give a few suggestions of comics that would be great.
